Good morning from E Kent. It appears clear as I am see the moon. It appears less frosty that the last few days.
As my eyes hadn’t improved considerably,I followed the nurse’s advice by being seen by someone. I decided to go to the local optician, as I had a greater chance of seeing someone that at the surgery - appointments for face to face consultations are in about 6 weeks!.
The chap was very thorough, told me that it wasn’t conjunctivitis, eliminated everything he could think of, gave me different eye drops and to come back if there was no appreciable improvement when I came back from Bristol. So, it appears to be “dry eyes”. The drops do help but my eyesight I’d blurred for about 20 minutes after application.
Done nothing, doing nothing apart from making a new “cat” hat for Iris. She is very distressed as sh has lost the one I sent last week.
All good wishes fora lovely weekend. Carpe diem/horam 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Shropshire.

I’m glad you were able to get an appointment with the optician and hope that the new drops work grandMattie.

Good to get some plans made for later in the year Mick.Something to look forward too.

Our quiet weekend is cancelled!DD was unwell when she arrived home from work yesterday so we have two little houseguests.H has been waking up at 4 so I went to bed early ready to be up bright and early.I am awake and he is fast asleep!I’m wondering if I can get downstairs and make a cup of tea without waking him.

No idea what we will be doing today, we will just go with the flow.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

BlueBalou Sat 11-Feb-23 06:17:02

Good morning, a damp start here in Wiltshire.
DH is off to town on the bus, I’m walking DDog then I really need to get bulbs planted.
Little else planned 😊
Have a lovely weekend everyone x

Good morning from the South Downs. Still very dark, but the days are definitely getting longer now. It feels milder too at 4c at the moment.

I have a free day today which I love, so will potter in the garden and house. The pots need watering!! I am absolutely not complaining though.

Crispy salmon with guacamole and street wraps for dinner - so an easy day all around😊

cornergran Sat 11-Feb-23 06:38:46

Morning Mick, morning All. Haven’t looked out, according to the forecast our corner of Somerset is overcast, cloud all day.

LPA storage sorted, flooring ordered and the majority of the sausage rolls in the freezer plus a couple of phone calls to friends and yesterday flew past. No plans for today, Mr C is finding energy limited as am I, fibro alive and well, a wait and see day will be welcomed by us both.

Good to have the trip to look forward to mick. I hope the new drops do the trick grandmattie, miserable for you. Get well wishes to your daughter susan and to all other poorly folk.

Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Fishwife Sat 11-Feb-23 06:39:59

GrandMattie
Do you have lots of extra dust at moment?
Specsavers recommended some phials and sent to own doctor who would not prescribe.
Off to award-winning independent and spent last summer with their products for dry eyes:
OcuSoft scrub to wipe eye-lids clean
Hycosan Original Drops - turn upside and squeeze with thumb (I’ve replaced by buying from Boots)
AND heated in microwave Eye Bag. Others on Amazon. Also provided to youngster at local eye hospital. Encourage you natural oils to flow …. One of my best things since sliced bread. Hope okay to give products but I’m sure there will be alternatives. Hope helps, even with ideas.

GrandMattie
Turn the bottle upside down, not yourself!!!!

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire. I spent the night at DDs after a very nice dinner at a local steak restaurant to celebrate GS’s birthday. He and his dad are off to Ipswich today with friends to watch a football match and they will stay overnight. After doing some shopping with DD this morning I shall be off home to spend a quiet weekend. I may do a bit of light gardening.
Have the best day you can folks!

grandMattie Sat 11-Feb-23 06:47:33

Thanks Fishwife, iwndered how I would stand on my head a my age… 🤣

Georgesgran Sat 11-Feb-23 06:54:12

Good morning from Durham. Either the radiator expanding or the dawn chorus has woken me early. DGS1 is still asleep, but the plan is to get him home by 10.30, so it’ll just be up, breakfast and away. His Daddy who works shifts, has a birthday today, so a family day out for them. My old school friend in Leicestershire is also celebrating her birthday today, I hope the gift and card get there.
DD2 is still on her own, so I’ll pop in and see if I can help her with DGS2, or the dog.
Best wishes for a good weekend.

karmalady Sat 11-Feb-23 06:59:12

Good morning from a s somerset and it will be bland all day

GM I second that about something warm on the eyes, it is very soothing. I have a microwaveable bag in my drawer, ready for use as and when.

One batch of marmalade made yesterday, I shall make the last batch before the berry season, starts late may with gooseberries. I will need freezer space. I recommend frozen sevilles via the pressure cooker. Very easy and all jars popped nicely

Another unfolding day, crafts, cycling, whatever pans out

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 11-Feb-23 07:00:13

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I don’t think there’s a frost but I haven’t properly looked yet! It’s far too early to be out of bed. Well, we really do have to clear out the room ready for the decorators. Mmm. I’ve got some shopping to do. Toad in the hole for dinner. OH will be mainly watching rugby when he’s not taking down shelves. His Lymes disease hasn’t gone away yet so he had several weeks of steroids delivered yesterday. What with his restless legs syndrome and associated medication and one or two two other ailments, he isn’t the happiest of bunnies. Have a good day.

Kalu Sat 11-Feb-23 07:01:41

Good morning all. It’s still dark outside but much milder with a forecast of 10deg. by lunchtime here in Glasgow.

A visit to the post office this morning as I have an item to return to House of Bruar which will cost £8 postage!
This is the first company I have bought from online who do not offer a free returns policy! They have just lost an online shopper. Not impressed at all with a company in rural Perthshire which would mean over an hours drive for me to return an item.

I started another Peter May book last night, The Night Gate and I am hooked. As we have no plan to go out today, I will enjoy escaping into another world with this enjoyable read.

Hoping a good weekend is ahead for all.

Ashcombe Sat 11-Feb-23 07:09:48

Good morning from a chilly Sarthe but with sunshine promised later. Yesterday was again pleasant enough to sit out which is what I love to do here. It’s good to hear of the gardeners among us starting to potter.

We completed most of our list of items to take home from Lidl but will need to visit Intermarché today, not least to fill up my car for our trip to Ouistreham tomorrow. Lunchtimes are the quietest time to go as the French tradition of a proper lunch at home continues, especially in rural areas.

I hope your new drops are effective, grandMattie; the good advice from Fishwife matches our optician's recommendations. Currently, I’m applying drops regularly as I think DH’s electric heating doesn’t help matters.

I hope those who are poorly recover soon and those caring for grandchildren have enough sleep, at least, to face their busy days! Happy weekend! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

TopsyIrene06 Sat 11-Feb-23 07:44:39

A mild start here in the Southside of Glasgow. Not light enough to see if I need an umbrella when I venture out.

Kalu, Agreed re The H of B in Perthshire. Lovely stuff but my word the cost of returns is prohibitive to shopping on line if there is any doubt about sizing.

kittylester Sat 11-Feb-23 07:46:54

Good morning from a cloudy and slightly warmer North Leicestershire.

We are expecting DD2 and her family for the weekend and, later today, a visit from DD3 and co so the cousins can have time together and the sisters can catch up.

Have the best day possible, everyone.

Sarah75 Sat 11-Feb-23 07:48:33

Might be cheaper to use Collect+, Kalu ?

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow. Where as Kalu says it's 8°C.

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to the two lovely ladies, who messaged me with advice about jury service exemption. It was very much appreciated.

GM, I have permanent dry eye syndrome, which often prevents me reading, a pleasure I miss greatly.
At my last Specsaver's visit, my optician wrote to my GP, asking him to change my usual Hyoscin drops to a new one called, EazyEye, only available on prescription and made specifically for sufferers of Sjogrens. They are better than previous ones.
I must to admit to being a bit lax at times and then my eyes become very painful.
It's a pain, but worth persevering with the drops, GM..

Yesterday was not the best of days.
DH took me out, although feeling a bit ropey, I was determined to go. I'm stir crazy.
I had the worst dizzy episode in ages, thought I was going to faint.
I got home and was violently sick, complete with a nosebleed.
I haven't had a nose bleed in years, so what was that all about?
It left me unable to do anything for the rest of the day. Grrrr🤬
On a more positive note, the new pharmacy excelled themselves, nothing missing and ready as promised!

Today the family are all coming here to celebrate SIL's big birthday.
I have decided to play the feeble old lady card, subdue my always in control personality and let the children do all the work.
Can my blood pressure cope with DD in MY kitchen? 😉

Susan a busy day ahead, for you, I hope its not too tiring.

I haven't read properly, but will need to do so later. Needs must and all that.
I need to was my hair and put on a face, so my children don't worry.

Have a good day, folks.

brook2704 Sat 11-Feb-23 07:58:58

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still windy but mild at about 10º. No sign of any sunshine though
Hope your eyes improve soon gMattie, take care
Today I’ll be taking DGD to her dance class and then I’ll just do a bit of shopping in town before coming home. I think I’ll pop into M&S food hall to see if there’s anything different to try for dinner later
If you’re meeting up with friends and family this weekend- enjoy!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 11-Feb-23 07:59:45

Good Morning all from Harrogate, it’s dry. Good idea Mick to take it easy.
Glad you are on the road to recovery GrandMattie. I keep Blephaclean wipes in the house and use at the first sign of the condition returning.
I was in Lidl yesterday as well Ashcombe. I bought a veggie boxandgave a lot to my Dd yesterday- I’m waiting for DD2 to decide if she wants anything from it. Today I will be busy making cottage pies to freeze using some of the veggies and the mince I bought yesterday.
Have the best day possible folks

Wyllow3 Sat 11-Feb-23 08:00:56

Good Morning from an overcast S Yorks.

Phew busy time ahead Susan
gMattie from the list given, I have found Hycosan Extra excellent.

Hoping to make it to the gym this morning as from 3pm likely to stay at home - no food etc for tomorrows 4pm appointment. My DS is coming long way bless to take me and staying the evening, he has to take his DD to the hospital the next day!

May your Saturdays go as well as they can.

Marydoll Sat 11-Feb-23 08:02:15

Topsy, lovely to see you posting!
I hope to visit House of Bruar in March, (🤞) when we visit Pitlochry for a few days. I love that place, but not the prices!
However, in the past, it has always been better to try things on, due to sizing.

dragonfly46 Sat 11-Feb-23 08:09:44

Good morning from cloudy Leicestershire.

Nothing planned today so will have have a cooking day and feed the freezer.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Pittcity Sat 11-Feb-23 08:11:29

Good morning from a grey Colchester. No frost this morning. Double figures forecast and no rain.
I slept in as we have a quiet weekend. DS is visiting his GF so I don't have his laundry and there's nothing in the diary. I need to find some plants to suit the shady side of the garden as I fear some haven't made it through the winter.
Love to all 🦩 x
