Yes I know it’s too early but DH and I have just eaten ours! We’re doing child care on Tuesday. We are both so impressed with the quality and price. We had coquilles St Jacques, rack of lamb with hasselback potatoes and profiteroles with rose Prosecco to drink. The deal cost £20 but our individual items came to £34. It was lovely to have a simple but special meal at home and I would strongly recommend it. Quite a lot of different items to choose from as well

I've always replicated the first Valentines meal we had ,so its melon and prawn ,Sole Veronique ,green beans and baby potatoes and Strawberry Mille Feuille...once a year for now 49 years.
I dont like going out for Valentines and I've never tried any of these "meal deals" ,how boring is that?

Not as boring as forgetting it altogether❣

I didn't get to M&S so it might be sausage and mash instead 😁

Another couple here who don’t ‘celebrate’ the day. We’ll be eating leftovers.

we are having a good laugh at the love sausage

We don't bother with it either, but I did buy a pack of Wagyu burgers from Aldi yesterday which had a cheesy 'heart' topping, part of their Valentine's range. I'm not particularly a burger lover, but they looked nice and I have to say they were very good indeed.

Valentine's Day we make a lovely family dinner for all our family, school night matters not. A bit of palaver really.

China, silver, linens, all pretty and traditional. I love it.

I do wish some of these offers had decent vegetarian options...

FannyCornforth Mon 13-Feb-23 12:10:13

Same here. They are pretty mournful aren’t they

FannyCornforth Mon 13-Feb-23 12:11:07

Norah that sounds absolutely lovely.
Can I come?

Sounds a bit rude doesn’t it? Like a euphemism. 😂

We’ve got the 2 elder Gdcs coming to stay tomorrow, so I’m planning on macaroni cheese - their favourite.
I’ve got a card for dh, but nothing else. Not strictly a Valentine’s one, but I like it.

Red gingham table cloth and napkins, avocado served in heart-shaped dishes, meal planned and cooked by yours truly; 14 Feb is always special, even as the Golden Wedding looms.

I wish my lovely man was here to share the day he used to make it so special instead I will share a special meal with my best friend & riminess and raise a glass.

aonk, we've bought almost the same M & S meal as you did. Don't usually make much of Valentine's Day (or use ready meals) but it looks like a good offer and makes for a special treat on a cold February day.

GrannySomerset Tue 14-Feb-23 09:51:29

Glad so many of you still make something of the day even after decades together. I miss my DH especially because he always bought flowers even when we were young and broke, so I shall buy my own today as a special memory.
