Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry and looks a little milder to what it has been like most mornings early this past few weeks in brackley .
Plans I have an item from John Lewis to pick from local Waitrose which I will do early.
I plan to bus to Bicester , just to see whether with more walking I am improving , but the weather holds the key if its cold.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning, all, from a fine and dry Portsmouth City Centre Travelodge which is not the one we booked!

After a smooth crossing on a ship only half full, we docked early and we were at our hotel (two minutes’ away) before 10pm to be told that our room wasn’t available but they’d booked us in to the City Centre TL. They had rung and left a voicemail on my phone which I had planned to listen to once we had checked in as nothing indicated it was Travelodge! In any case, no reception mid Channel!

I was devastated and not reassured by the receptionist’s claim that it wasn’t far. DH took over the driving as I was beyond coping. If only she’d sent a text, we could have planned for finding the place.

An hour later, after travelling some stretches four times, we found the place, before which DH had offered to drive back to Torquay. There was no immediate indication of where to park but we were advised by phone to park in the church car park and payment would be taken at the hotel. (£5)

On checking in, we were offered a compensatory drink but on hearing our sorry tale (I threw in convalescing from heart surgery for good measure!!) they upgraded this to a free breakfast this morning.

The room is cramped (sleeps four!) and cold. It has reverse A/C heating which isn’t working, despite us setting it on 25!! DH couldn’t sleep initially for being cold!

Then I read the poignant post from Megs36 which puts things in perspective. Condolences to you, dear lady.

Thank you all for your good wishes yesterday. Have a good week! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s cloudy and mild. The Sunday Lunch Club was great fun yesterday. Everyone enjoyed themselves. It’s a nice change for those on their own.
This morning it’s Striders and Strollers, another village social initiative. I think we’ll be walking about 5 miles.
Have a good day everyone.

ginny Mon 13-Feb-23 08:00:29

Good morning . Some housework and soup making this morning. This afternoon I’ll prepare our next craft club project and then do some artwork.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. It’s very still and dull.

This morning I have yoga and DGS for the afternoon. It’s good it’s dry as I expect we will be out in the garden for most of the afternoon. DH cut the grass yesterday it was quite long after the winter.

Welcome micmc47👋 It sounds very nice where you live.

Marydoll💐 hope you get through to the drs ok.

Have a good day everyone. Thinking of those suffering stress and illness.🌻🌻

grandMattie Mon 13-Feb-23 08:09:52

Power not cheaper at night as far as I know, MD. If it’s done first thing, I have more drying time…. Simples

Sorry you’re feeling so unwell, MD. Hope you manage to speak to the dr. easily.

What a palaver, Ash. The worst thing is their serenity in the face of your distress. It seems that it’s always one fault. Hope your return to TQ is easier.

I forgot to say earlier, the nut roast from the BBC website took hours to make, what with lots of prep and different stages of cooking, then having to stand for ages after coming out of the oven then still didn’t carve properly. It is very nutritious I’m sure, and I’m hoping will cut better when cold today but don’t think I’ll be making that one again in a rush!

Georgesgran Mon 13-Feb-23 08:12:52

Good morning from Durham. Just can’t believe I have another cold! Couldn’t get warm yesterday - my feet were like blocks of ice.
Won’t be doing much today.
Best wishes to all. X

Urmstongran Mon 13-Feb-23 08:14:05

So sorry to hear you are struggling with your health Marydoll especially as you’d only just had such an enjoyable party day on Saturday with all your family. x

Urmstongran Mon 13-Feb-23 08:23:09

My evaluation risk for breast cancer is high, according to various factors, genetics, past mammogram density, saliva DNA. The link outlines six monthly mammogram testing going forward. It’s a bit of a shock to be honest. But upon reflection perhaps better to know and take up extra screening offered than walking around not knowing?

Good morning all and it looks like ‘an ok’ type of day, here in Essex.

I hope to persuade (bully) Dh into clearing out the shed today.
It’s small and cluttered with the freezer in too. I’m having trouble getting to it.
Dh has no motivation for anything, so I’ll have to be on hand to assist him. Every day I try to find him things to do, but it’s a struggle. 😤.

Chimes group has been cancelled today. It’s only twice a month but it’s a nice start to the week with some fun and music.

Ash are you back safe and sound? I hope your journey was trouble free. 🤞

I hope your GP’s chat solves some of your problems MD 🙏

Enjoy the day! 🌷.

Good morning all from Suffolk where the sun has deserted us over the past few days.

Not much planned today other than a bit of tidying up in the garden where the snowdrops continue and flourish in the “plague pit” and elsewhere and daffodils are in flower in pots and in bud in the soil.

Hope the day is kind to all especially those who are under the weather.

Gingster Mon 13-Feb-23 08:30:17

Sorry Ash just read your post.
You’ll be pleased to get home. 💐

Greyduster Mon 13-Feb-23 08:32:01

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a grey, cool South Yorkshire. I didn’t wake up last night at all - usually have to get out of bed at least once! Visit to the physio yesterday was all good but now have a more demanding exercise schedule and another appointment in three weeks. I am cleaning the inside of the car today, and if it stays dry tomorrow DGS has said he will clean the outside when he comes over. At six feet tall, he will have no difficulty cleaning the roof on a Mini, though I could just about manage it myself now at a stretch. I will have to feed him of course - he eats more than Desperate Dan!!
Ash what a palaver with your hotel! You’ll be glad to get home.
Mary sorry to hear you’ve had a dip💐. Hope you’re back on track soon.
micmc47 welcome!
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning all from what looks to be a lovely day on the Angus coast. A walk on the beach may beckon, and I must make a pot of carrot and thyme soup. It's a French recipe which involves simmering the carrots in loads of butter. Decadent, I know, but I'm of an age when a lot a little of what you fancy does you good 😉
Glad you had a lovely family day on Saturday Marydoll, and welcome to Romala. The Kingdom was where I spent my childhood, and St Andrews is one of my favourite places. I do read all the posts each day, but also tend to forget all the things I'd like to comment on by the next morning. (I know, get a notebook!)
Now I must go and get on with all that pottering. Have a good day everyone x

hulahoop Mon 13-Feb-23 08:38:29

GrannyGravy13 Mon 13-Feb-23 08:39:40

Morning all

The sun is breaking through which lifts one’s mood.

Off to the gym this morning and then DD is here for lunch with The Imp and the now 8yr old (no idea where those years have gone)

Sorry you are struggling yet again Marydoll good you are back on U.K. safe Ashcombe
Urmstongran what a shock, with regular monitoring and mammograms you will be receiving excellent care and prevention 🌸

Keep safe folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Stilllearning Mon 13-Feb-23 08:41:35

Morning from S Lanarkshire, cold but calm. No childminding this week because of half term holiday but sorry not to have the chance to see DD and SiL because they have been thoroughly rattled by having a break in on Saturday night. No one at home, they were at a wedding and only a small amount of jewellery taken but a lot of mess and emotional upset. The children were staying away and won’t be told about what happened. Contrary to what we are hearing just now, the police police have been very thorough and helpful.

I do hope things can be improved for you Marydoll, it just seems to be going on and on for you just now.

I’ll read the rest of the posts later but send good wishes to all for a good day🦩

monk08 Mon 13-Feb-23 08:43:20

Good morning from a dull Black country.
39 posts to read its gets busier every day will get my cuppa 🍵 and catch up.
More decluttering today, sent some things home with DS on Friday he has been left 13yrs and we still have a lot his things.
Safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed, enjoy your Monday everyone and may you all find some ☀️.

GrannySomerset Mon 13-Feb-23 08:46:27

Dental check and dreaded hygienist this morning and hosting a book group this afternoon so I had best get started, though my inclination is to stay in bed. However, that would be the beginning of the end so is not an option!

What a frustrating hotel experience for you, Ashcombe, a free breakfast is the least you should have been offered after all that. Sorry Marydoll is suffering so and hope she manages to get past the dragon and actually speak to a doctor soon and that all the shed clearing, child minding etc goes well.

dragonfly46 Mon 13-Feb-23 08:48:18

Wow that is a lot Urmston. I only have a mammogram once a year!

ShazzaKanazza Mon 13-Feb-23 08:54:42

Urms it is good that you know and will be very well looked after but I can imagine the shock you felt 💐

Stilllearning how awful for your DD and SIL I agree with them not telling the children.

Ash sorry you had a troublesome journey when all you wanted to do was get some rest. Pleased they compensated you.
🌻

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. A day of dealing with domestic matters, the sun coming out shows the dust unfortunately.
Best wishes to all

harrigran Mon 13-Feb-23 09:01:50

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE where we have frost.
Won't be doing much today as my back is really painful again.
SIL tidied the wine cellar yesterday and we updated the cellar book.
We made dinner together, pork in a cider and mustard sauce and I made courgette Provencal, enough to do at least two meals. No dessert but we had some Florentines with our coffee while we watched Vera.
Welcome micmc47, you are not that far from me.
Thoughts are with you Marydoll, hoping for a better day.

Urmstongran Mon 13-Feb-23 09:02:06

My mistake dragonfly. I think I panicked on first read.
I see I have a mammogram booked for six months’ time then saw a row of dates underneath.
It is actually one a year from this summer.
I know I will be super anxious each one I attend now.
And breathe....

EkwaNimitee Mon 13-Feb-23 09:12:40

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle where we have a light frost this morning. Car windscreens are clear though.
Yesterday was a quiet day of pottering after the garden exertions of the day before. Today is the usual housework and laundry which I will carefully navigate through as I have woken with a bit of a swimmy head.
Ash, that was a painful end to your day! DH and I used that route regularly and always took the night ferry which meant we could have an early start to our destination next day. Do you not care to do that?
Marydoll I'm really sorry to hear the drugs are not working out as you hoped. It's become a wearing battle for you and I hope something can be done to better things.

Have the best possible day, all.
