Just a (lighthearted - not meant to be taken seriously), those UFO's over North America, were actually visitors from another Galaxay, having witnessed the problems this planet is having, had arrived to survey so that they could offer help to solve these?

And......they have all been shot down........>!!!!!!!!!

What if whoever/whatever sent the balloons wanting us to shoot them down. Perhaps the burst balloons scattered tiny creatures from another galaxy far far away.......

Or maybe they took one look at the mess and turned tail?

Hetty58 Tue 14-Feb-23 14:30:38

Franbern, I can't think why they'd want to help - probably would come for a really good laugh at us, though.

Look no further - The War of the Worlds, 1897, HG Wells.

I remember years ago when UFOs were in the news.
A US roving reporter asked random passers by, what they would do if one of the UFOs landed and aliens disembarked.
The consensus of opinion was to shoot them!

Avatar, re-imagined?

Callistemon21 Tue 14-Feb-23 15:52:20

They might want to farm us, Franbern 😲

Well, there are theories that they arrived many thousands of years ago and bred with the primitive people who were already here.
Who were the Gods and Goddesses of mythology? Who were the giants who roamed the earth?
Why do different parts of the world have similar ancient buildings such as pyramids?
There's a theory that everyone with RH- blood types are from alien stock.

wink

Perhaps the balloons were sent to check on how well we're doing after all these years. They'd be rather disappointed.

I am convinced we have been visited by an advanced life form in the past as its the only way I can explain the 'miracles' in the Bible.
Rose into the Heavens - we do in planes now or some in a rocket
Writing on the wall - projectors
Made the blind to see - cataract operations
Made the lame to walk - orthopaedic surgery
Virgin birth - AID
Walking on water - water ski or jet ski
These things are all common to us now but would have seemed like miracles in Biblical times
As for UFOs I have an open mind on that but not convinced they aren't new military prototypes
I do think these 'balloons' are spying on us from China and perhaps other countries. Definitely not alien craft.

We're all just a zoological experiment by the beings from Alpha Centauri anyway, they're just checking up on us.

4allweknow Tue 14-Feb-23 17:15:23

Think they came, saw and went Nah, don't think well bother, leave them to their mess. We're off!

HiPpyChick57 Tue 14-Feb-23 19:46:21

It won’t be long before the zombies will start appearing. By shooting down the balloons it has released billions of space spores into the atmosphere… enter the walking dead!
Come back Rick Grimes and Michone we’ll be needing you very soon.

Read a great SF story about how the galactic empire decides to destroy the earth because the human race is so aggressive. One delegate pleads for a last chance for the human race and offers to travel to earth to do research. The council agrees that if he can find any redeeming features in the human race they will reconsider.

The advocate travels to earth and the first creature he encounters is a cat. The cat is transported to the mothership and painlessly examined using every sophisticated technique that the aliens have. At the end of the experiments the cat is returned to its own time frame with no knowledge of what took place.

The advocate reports that the cat was a perfectly engineered machine for killing pitilessly. It even toyed with its victims. It was a creature completely self centered and which acted only in its own interest, even when it showed appeared to show affection. Nevertheless humans love and protect such creatures, take them into their homes and feed them. Surely there is some good in a species which can love and defend such a cruel creature.

The galactic council debated and decided to give the human race another chance – all thanks to the cat.

What if - asyou say they were here to offer some benevolent re-direction but having managed to establish communication with the US government, they were in fact shotdown because, having some answers, they were a threat because they might win the next election?

Have any of you watched ‘This Island Earth’? Shooting them down is definitely the best thing to do! grin

(I admit to being addicted to 1950s sci fi)

As a firm believer that we are not the only species (a bit arrogant of us to think we are), and we are probably the 'cavemen' compared to other worlds, I think there is a lot more to this (and other) incidents that have been happening around the world in the past year or two. In fact, if you have a couple of hours to while away, have a listen to the Joe Rogan Experience (ep. 1315) interview with Bob Lazar and Jeremy Corbell. As for us shooting down alien craft, if they have the ability to travel millions of miles in a short time, I'm sure they would be able to avoid a missile or two.
