Just a (lighthearted - not meant to be taken seriously), those UFO's over North America, were actually visitors from another Galaxay, having witnessed the problems this planet is having, had arrived to survey so that they could offer help to solve these?

And......they have all been shot down........>!!!!!!!!!

Smileless2012 Mon 13-Feb-23 10:38:04

Well they wont be coming back and if they wanted to know why we've made such a mess of things, they've had their answer.

Sago Mon 13-Feb-23 10:39:55

Could they perhaps pick up a few politicians and take them back to planet Zog?

VioletSky Mon 13-Feb-23 10:47:44

I've always imagined that UFOs would be alien teenagers who stole the family spaceship and like to freak out the humans for fun.

Mum and Dad would be all "How many times do we have to tell you to stay away from the humans! If we ever make contact and they don't immediately blow us up, half of them will want us to go back home and then they will want to retire here!"

I do think this world is in definite need of advice from outer space….roll on extraterrestrial visitors.

M0nica Mon 13-Feb-23 11:13:04

Why do we always assume that extraterrestrial visitors come from a wiser and more benevolent planet than our own.

They could come from an evil and malevolent planet, planning to end our lives and reduce it to minimal level so that they can extract anything in our planet worth having - minerals, plants, animals and then send whats left heading into the sun and total annihilation.

Or they could be refugees from a another planet so incompetent that they have destroyed it and having reviewed all other planets decided that we have done better than any of the others when it comes to dealing with the problems, that we, like they, have created.

All this mention of extra-terrestrials - I now have an urge to watch E.T! Only I think we gave the DVD to Gdcs. Might try Netflix later.

Granny23 Mon 13-Feb-23 11:23:01

Surely this scenario could be the basis for a book or blockbuster Movie?

Juliet27 Mon 13-Feb-23 11:23:44

I think if they’re planning a takeover for their own purpose then they’d better hurry before there’s nothing useful left to extract.

AGAA4 Mon 13-Feb-23 11:46:54

They planned to be shot down as they are microbial beings here to gain intelligence so obviously they won't go near Westminster.

HousePlantQueen Mon 13-Feb-23 11:53:22

They checked for intelligent life and left emptyhanded. It is all rather weird though isn't it?

We have earthquakes, flood, pestilence, alien invasion.....the preppers in the hills must be frantically bottling fruit and rolling bandages

halfpint1 Mon 13-Feb-23 12:09:16

Whoever they are they are certainly more advanced than we are. My sighting was well documented along with alot of other people and the space craft was large, silent and very fast.
As is tradional we had a 'bonfire night' for the kids that night
but got more than we bargained for when sending up the rockets and seeing a spacecraft overhead.
Google France UFO sighting November 5th 1990
The official explanation/denial was way off the mark to what
we actually witnessed. C'est la vie!

I think we're more than capable of doing all that ourselves without any help from aliens...

Pittcity Mon 13-Feb-23 15:24:06

Where's Bruce Willis when we need him?

M0nica Mon 13-Feb-23 17:11:45

Blondiescot But it doesn't stop other aliens admiring us because we have done so much better than them.

Remember the beginning of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

Growing0ldDisgracefully Tue 14-Feb-23 12:04:40

Maybe they are the surveyors for an intergalactic demolition squad?

polnan Tue 14-Feb-23 12:19:08

Many a true word....

and of course, lots of SF stuff has come true, just watch Star Trek, the early ones

seadragon Tue 14-Feb-23 12:31:41

So far, this is my favourite ever post on Gransnet....definitely food for thought...

VioletSky Tue 14-Feb-23 12:38:10

One theory I read was that human beings were once the pets of a more evolved race here on earth who built the pyramids and other incomprehensible buildings.

When we started talking they were probably horrified by the contents of our minds and fled the planet

After running out of options to move to another country for sanities sake, I’m now researching other life forms in the universe. There has to be a more peaceful planet out there somewhere.
Cheers!

Gundy, I saw yellow, green and red flashing lights in a triangle shape similar to some in those articles you mentioned in Google. That was in Scotland, 1995.... This happened as I was going to feed my horses in the field.

micmc47 Tue 14-Feb-23 13:40:49

In don't think that these objects are extra-terrestrial. Any beings with technology advanced enough for interplanetary travel would be unlikely to need to resort to floating around our upper atmosphere suspended beneath a balloon. No, I suspect it's surveillance/spying originating in an "unfriendly" nation... not that I'm saying that all UFO sightings are fake. I've seen enough myself in the night sky to keep an open mind about that topic.

CountryMouse22 Tue 14-Feb-23 13:54:18

These balloons make me laugh. Remind me of 'The Prisoner'. I am not a number....!
