Over 30 years ago on this day I gave birth to our second child our first son.
My husband left the hospital at 4.00 am and returned at lunchtime with a courgette in a brown paper bag, he said the flowers were all outrageously priced because it was Valentine’s Day!
Never been quite sure why a courgette, it remains a mystery.
Since then I have always told him not to bother despite our finances being in much better shape now!
It is now just our sons birthday but perhaps secretly I would like a card, flowers or a little treat😉

We went out for lunch on the 13th, our 32nd engagement anniversary, using our bus passes there and back. DH have me 3 cards on V Day as he'd forgotten that he'd already bought one and didn't want to waste it. I bought him 2 and a heart shaped box of M&S chocs because I fancied the box. I know we don't need to do cards but I've saved all the ones he's ever bought with all his silly messages and they mean such a lot. I hoped to have them all in my coffin when I go but I think they'd not leave any room for me.

Nah. I don't think we've bothered with Valentine's day since the first one after we met. And then we only did it because we didn't know each other very well and each didn't want the other to be disappointed 😁 Mr A has bought us some train tickets into London though, as I was reminiscing recently about the days when we lived there, so we're off for a day to revisit some old haunts next week.

I am divorced and live alone. Yes I did receive a bouquet of beautiful flowers on Valentines Day... from my lovely kind son in law. How considerate he is.

We have never bothered with Valentines day. Our wedding anniversary is on 17th February, so Valentine's Day seemed a bit superflous and prices have fallen by 17th, so we can push the boat out further if we want to.

We celebrated 50years just before Valentines Day so we never do much.
We are so unaffected by the hype but must be doing something right.🥰

We exchane cards butthat's it. Same with our anniversary, which is very close to Christmas. Christmas and birthdays are the ones when we give nice presents.

Yes we always buy each other a valentines card and buy each other gifts 40 years together, nothing to do with commercialism. It’s what we do, each to their own of course everyone has different ideas, we are a soppy pair and wouldn’t have it any other way
