So once you've been a GN member for a whilte, been around the block a few times, you'll have witnessed some feeding frenzies on controversial topics.

Some of those I remember from yester year are:

* Baby milk shortage (being bought up and sold overseas)

* Boris Johnson (at one point praised for his intelligence, yes, really!)

* Jeremy Corbyn (a real Marmite character)

*Anything to do with trans issues.

What are some of the topics that have caused metaphorical fisticuffs that you remember?

English grammar, family moving abroad, face masks.

Wearing pajamas outdoors. That seems to stir a bit of passion.

And pyjamas in Asda. I've seen it and it isn't nice....

Or a bidet.

We had one but there wasn't really room for it when we refitted the bathroom. sad
I could sit on the toilet (with the lid down) and soak my feet in the bidet in lovely warm soapy water. Bliss.

Yes, we moved and have no space now. I really miss it.

More Mumsnet than Gransnet, but threads about having/not having baths or washing your hair every day always get people excited.
And how often to wash your sheets and towels.
I'm on the grubby, less often side myself.

Yup I do! Tattoos and leggings. The sausages I can take or leave.

As for B word, one of my tattoos is related to that. I'm a #HardRemainer now #HardRejoiner involved with the rejoin alliances in the background

I'm also a H & M supporter so that's me outed where I am on threads 😉

Nannan2 Sat 04-Mar-23 13:48:18

Around COVID: wearing masks, gloves, should post and shopping be doused in bleach or left in the garden for three days. Constant use of diinfectant, bleach and handwashing when indoors and alone

I actually left GN for six months because I found the paranoid threads on COVID so disturbing.

It all seems so silly now doesn’t it? I laughed about leaving the shopping in the garden for three days, would be mostly unusable after that.

Me again. I’m the only DM reader on here

I am too though hardly dare admit it 😂

I remember reading about the dishwasher on here but don't know where it originated 🤮

I remember that too. Only seems a couple of weeks ago.

We have a toilet mat -actually more than one for the reason you mention. The problem is, what do others who have them put with it in the washing machine? Towels? Dog’s blankets?

I have pedestal mats in the loos. Not to catch drips as there are no men here but to keep my bare feet off the cold tiles.

Calendargirl Sat 04-Mar-23 15:12:49

The loo brush and the dishwasher was definitely on a Gransnet thread, back in July last year.

It was a colleague who cleaned it in the dishwasher, not the GN’er though.

So presumably you just put them in with the general washing, or with towels?

MaggsMcG Sat 04-Mar-23 16:07:49

To vaccinate or not.
To have boosters or not

To wear masks or not (which seems to be not now)

Whether The Labour Party can do a better job or just a different bad one.

Things your mother said to you!

Callistemon21 - re the photo... you are supposed to be using the shower hose to clean the toilet - not sucking on it!

Behave!

Fly tipping and the dreadful rubbish on the side of the road and motorways.

Does anyone admit to wearing leggings, having a tattoo and likes sausages? grin

Two here. Clue - no body art here.

I am also fat, but I wear my leggings under dresses.

There was a thread about the non- availability of loo seat covers not that long ago.

downtoearth Sun 05-Mar-23 09:50:38

How often do you change your bra was another.

Kalu Sun 05-Mar-23 11:08:50

I remember reading a notice in a friend’s loo….my aim is to keep the loo clean, your aim helps…she had 4 sons plus husband.

All these nasty comments about the Daily Mail makes me want to read it. We don’t have it here but it seems to be very controversial. I like to go against the grain, though and might like it. I have read the Ghastly Guardian and don’t think much of it thoughI have a distant memory of the Manchester Guardian being a fantastic paper in days of yore.
