So once you've been a GN member for a whilte, been around the block a few times, you'll have witnessed some feeding frenzies on controversial topics.

Some of those I remember from yester year are:

* Baby milk shortage (being bought up and sold overseas)

* Boris Johnson (at one point praised for his intelligence, yes, really!)

* Jeremy Corbyn (a real Marmite character)

*Anything to do with trans issues.

What are some of the topics that have caused metaphorical fisticuffs that you remember?

Galaxy
I’ve just pmed Jane to ask her opinion on this all important, contentious, and divisive matter.

I will report back as soon as she declares her preference regarding le brosse de toilette
(I have no idea why I’ve done that)

I haven’t disclosed our views so as not influence her vote

FannyCornforth Thu 02-Mar-23 12:04:30

And yes, Blossoming is correct, in my ignorance of such matters,
I did indeed flush tissues down the loo.
I no longer do so, I can confirm.

Very recent was the furore of Harry & Meghan’s talks, especially Harry’s book called spare

Plantation shutters. Not sure if they were supposed to be posh or common. Not passing a personal opinion. 🤐🤐🤐🤐

Maybe a badge for loo brush clique? A secret handshake, something like a scrubbing under the rim option? May need work though.......

FannyCornforth Thu 02-Mar-23 14:11:24

I use the shower head on very hot every day to clean my toilet ☺️

It never gets very grubby anyway. I’ve never thought ‘oh I wish I had a loo brush to tackle this’.
I just give in an extra flush or two and it’s good to go.
And I put loo cleaner round the bowl twice a week or so.

annodomini Thu 02-Mar-23 14:35:13

If I were in a clique would I admit it? However, I come down in favour of loo brushes. What is the alternative?

FannyCornforth Thu 02-Mar-23 14:35:40

Galaxy - JaneJudge’s verdict 😌

Galaxy Thu 02-Mar-23 14:39:06

I am too busy with my new friend sodapop to engage with this horror.

Marydoll Thu 02-Mar-23 15:21:31

I have TWO loo brushes.
# proud to clean!

Marydoll Thu 02-Mar-23 15:22:12

PS. I do disinfect them after each use.

sodapop Thu 02-Mar-23 16:25:52

That's just showing off Marydoll are you an honorary member of the clique now .smile

Galaxy Thu 02-Mar-23 16:29:00

🚽🧹 mmm this the best I can do in terms of emojis.

Sago

I always hated loo brushes, couldn’t look at one😬.
They are however sadly a necessity.
I found these by Joseph Joseph.
I can’t get get too excited about a toilet brush but they are far more hygienic than a traditional brush.

I have one of these Sago
It rates as one of the most useless bits of kit I've ever bought.
I am however a fan of the lavatory brush.
#bogscrubber

I'd flood the bathroom if I tried that, it's too far from shower to loo!

I have always wanted to be part of a GN clique!

Unless being a member of the formidable Glesca Grannies counts. 🤣

FannyCornforth Thu 02-Mar-23 16:59:09

Ahem (bangs spoon 🥄)
Can I introduce into the fray this thing

Apparently there are two different ways of wiping one’s bottom. (Who knew!)

There are those who do it seated.
And there are those who do it standing.

And the members of each of those groups never knew that there was an alternative procedure

(Well. I certainly didn’t shock)

Jaxjacky Thu 02-Mar-23 17:08:13

Or a bidet.

Elegran Thu 02-Mar-23 17:09:06

Is sex (as in "fitted with or fitted for", not as in "popular recreational activity") relevant to each individuals choice of sit/stand wiping clique? Those "fitted with" have obstacles to reach past if they stay seated.

DanniRae Thu 02-Mar-23 17:14:53

I only have a loo brush because my daughter ordered one online and two were delivered. I don't use it but it is very smart looking! I use the paper disposable ones that are flushed down the loo after use.

FannyCornforth Thu 02-Mar-23 17:27:31

Jaxjacky

Or a bidet.

Yes, what an excellent thing they are

Galaxy Thu 02-Mar-23 17:41:09

You have kept your powder dry a long time FC. Only now to reveal yourself as a poo troll.

Callistemon21 Thu 02-Mar-23 17:47:51

Jaxjacky

Or a bidet.

We had one but there wasn't really room for it when we refitted the bathroom. sad
I could sit on the toilet (with the lid down) and soak my feet in the bidet in lovely warm soapy water. Bliss.

Mollygo Thu 02-Mar-23 17:53:08

Callistemon21 exactly what we use ours bidet for!

grannyactivist Thu 02-Mar-23 17:57:43

Sorry, I haven’t read the whole thread, has anybody mentioned pedantry? I seem to remember that Pedant’s Corner was set up so that people could mention pet (pedantic) hates on there rather than set threads on fire with criticisms.
