If it was in my power I would bestow the title of Sir, or Saint, on whoever decided to print grid lines on the back of wrapping paper and the person who first made the bottle gift bag. They have both made life infinitely easier.
Over to you....

Mine would have to shared between the 3 men who developed YouTube. My go to for everything πŸ˜„

I remember the days of struggling with heavy suitcases on holiday, so I would knight whoever first introduced wheels on suitcases. Such a simple idea, you wonder why no-one thought of it before!

Lady Florence Nightingale thΓ© founder of modern nursing-although being a social reformer, I doubt she would have accepted a title.

All the people I know, who might deserve a Knighthood, would refuse it as they do not agree with the privileged system. It would be different matter if all awards (perhaps with a small pension) were given to people who had made an outstanding contribution to the well being of the nations or their citizens, rather than to those who have 'bought' their knighthood by donating to the party in power.

The people who invented the Apple operating system in such an intuitive user friendly way have my eternal gratitude

Also the inventor of Satnav. Brilliant.

My father. Honestly.
The nicest, kindest, most generous, self effacing, interesting, intelligent man.

Arise Sir Frederick of Stourbridge! 🏡️

The very agile squirrel who is nesting in my next door neighbours ivy. It is a world of entertainment and isn't afraid of heights smile

FannyCornforth Sun 05-Mar-23 13:12:52

This is great! The squirrel can go with my dad! 🐿️

Granny23. Please just loosen up and relax!! And read the heading properly " not to be taken seriously". I have enough worries at the moment, without being lectured about the pros and cons of our titles system.

My daughter for her contribution to nursing. My son in law for his contribution to medicine.
And of course, many others who work in the NHS and domiciliary care.

My OH for all the decorating sometimes through the night ,sometimes only lasted a night before I decided I didn't like it and ripped the paper from the walls .Not the most patient of men but for his never ending patience with fussy me he should be Saint Mr Paddy

paddyann54 Sun 05-Mar-23 16:31:55

Granny23 I dont know anyone who thinks titles are right either .Nobody should tell you what to write on here, and I agree with what you have written

Jaxjacky Sun 05-Mar-23 16:35:09

Whoever invented sellotape dispensers, brilliant πŸ‘πŸ‘

NotAGran55 Sun 05-Mar-23 16:40:11

Leo Fender and Alec Issigonis for all the fun their inventions have brought to me over the years.

NotAGran55 Sun 05-Mar-23 16:45:18

Just remembered that Alec was!

May I nominate some Dames and Knights? To all the wonderful people who give up their time to collect, cure, care for and re-home rescue cats and dogs in my area. It is a full time occupation without holidays often costing them from their own pockets so the little furries have the life they are entitled too, safe, warm, fed and loved.

Just get rid of this antiquated system , it is totally ridiculous in this day and age.

I see that Johnson has nicked my idea.
Arise Sir Stanley of Exmoor! πŸ™„

My first thought was Chris Whitty, who kept me sane throughout Lockdown, but I googled him, and he's been done.

In that case, the person who invented satnavs. I wasn't bad at driving from A to B but if I got lost or had to divert, I could not work out how to get back on the right road. I stand a much better chance now.

Allsorts Mon 06-Mar-23 06:21:09

I know a lot of Knights I would like to take the title from.
