If it was in my power I would bestow the title of Sir, or Saint, on whoever decided to print grid lines on the back of wrapping paper and the person who first made the bottle gift bag. They have both made life infinitely easier.
Over to you....

My wonderful, former rheumatologist, who at 72, against the wishes of his family, voluntarily came out of retirement to support his former patients, when his replacement consultant was seconded to Covid ICU.

He phoned me out of the blue and realising how unwell I was, arranged for me to go into hospital (not with Covid), to start new treatment.

He always went above and beyond for his patients. When I had my first heart attack and was a patient in another hospital, their rheumatologist came to check up on me. On asking who my rheumatologist was, he said, He is a legend, everyone loves him.
An unsung hero and most unassuming of men, but rather eccentric! He is the doctor, mentioned on another thread, who put his loo brush in the diswasher.

I second the point about YouTube, I would be lost without it.
Confined to my home for the last two months, it has helped to preserve my sanity!

The title does say, Not to be taken seriously, I took from that, that it was meant to be lighthearted, so why do people feel the need to rant about knighthoods?
Perhaps start your own thread on those, from whom knighthood should be taken away.

Kevin Sinfield, not just for the amount of money and the awareness he's raised, but also for showing the depth of love for his friend (and for being the world's most beautiful man!)

I'd love to Knight the person who invented the concept of a cup tea in bed while watching TV- especially when it's perishing cold.

I would no knight anyone and would get rid of the while rotting structure. The days of Lords and Ladies had long passed.

My brother who has been through more trauma than anyone I know and is still standing (and smiling).

I’d knight the surgeon who thanks to his experimental treatment on me as a child, enabled me to walk. Also the lady who, well into her 80s, did so much to help children as a volunteer at school.
And (can’t find a tongue-in-cheek emoji) an award 🏅for all the posters who took this thread lightly or not seriously, as instructed in the OP

Apart from my DH, (who would refuse unless we can have a hypothetical new system), I would honour the helpful woman in the local railway station ticket office and her retired predecessor, and also the staff in the local shops, including Tesco, who kept going through the pandemic.

Like several of you, I don't like the current system of honours, but I don't see why we can't have a totally new system with no reference to Empire, but to be awarded by GN members to those we approve of.
