Good morning all. I'm fascinated by the variations in weather across the country! No snow up here on the Angus coast and the hills have less snow on them than yesterday. It's a glorious day and the only cloud in the bright blue sky is a line of big fluffy white clouds on the horizon out to sea.
I'm glad you're enjoying your visit up here grandmattie. I'm sure your chatting rings a bell with a lot of us on here! I'm the same - give me a chance and words are machine-gunned out of me!
I'm very late this morning after a moon-disturbed night. The countryside was as bright as day as there were no clouds for the moon to hide behind - so beautiful.
My new-to-me Tai chi class was lovely yesterday - small, but perfectly formed, as they say. I'm going to enjoy bringing them on. In the afternoon I had an unexpected visit from an old tai chi friend from years ago. Such a surprise, and so nice to see her - a lot of catch-up machine gun chat, as you can imagine 😁.
Today is the day I take my friend up-country for lunch - a beautiful day for a drive, which we'll both enjoy.
Now off I must go to put at least some of the morning to good use! Stay warm, cosy and safe everyone x

Good morning everyone. It’s very cold in Preston this morning, no ice as it’s been very dry the last few days. The garden pond is frozen over, I must check the birds’ water. The sun is shining through a light cloud layer, I’m hoping to get out for a walk later. Mr.B has been shopping, no shortages in Lidl.
Have a good day all 🦩🦩🦩

Hi again we have a covering of snow now after a heavy shower. I’ve sent a video to son in China as they are having a hot day today. He said we would love some snow but they live in southern China.

Stilllearning we had no chance with tickets. I left DH on the job and he must have nodded off because half an hour after going on sale they were gone. Need to break the news to DD today. Not prepared to pay the ridiculous resale prices.

Annapops 👋 I’d love to go back to Beamish I took the kids when they were young. We always say we are going to go and our friends we visit live just over the hill in Stanley but somehow we never get to Beamish.

I’m loving hearing about your lovely activities, holidays and breaks away today. X

Good morning from Glasgow, bitterly cold but blue skies and sunshine are melting the early morning frost.

GD2’s adenoidectomy first thing this morning has been cancelled due to no bed available. Two days off school to isolate for nothing.😡

No pottering in the garden so, pottering indoors it is. I have made a start by hanging out some washing to dry in the sun. At this rate I can spend the afternoon pleasing myself, book and or search for a good film to watch.

Best wishes to all for a good day and take care outdoors for all with snowy conditions.

Morning from S, Yorks.

No snow yet, forecast for tomorrow.

I think writing down stories and tales from your life is a delightful idea. I'd have loved to have read my grandparents expecially with some pics.

Best days poorlies, and to all.

Good morning All from very frosty and icy Harrogate.
While you are in the area GrandMattie maybe you could see the Falkirk Wheel? If it’s operating in this chilly weather? It’s not too far from The Kelpies (which are awesome). Enjoy!
Yesterday we did a collage at the art club, then listened to a talk about the local woman’s rescue centre. We had all taken bits for these women. DGD did not come, much to my relief,I was shattered.
Today we are going out in the car, I know not where. No plans for the rest of the day.
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning Mick and all from a cold northwest coast. Plans today are dithering whether to hang some washing out, a facial and tonight to a play by the local drama society.
Bit fed up with the cold and now I have stopped using my complicated timer, switching the ch off and on but never seem to get warm.
Both my heated throw AND my electric blanket have given up the ghost at the same time…

I made someone cry yesterday, singing Schubert’s Ave Maria at the music club. They had requested it and I had to practise a bit more as it doesn’t lie well for me now. Sustained singing is harder. As I was in charge on the desk, I took the opportunity of telling them off for singing songs with fifteen verses, reading poems that lasted nearly ten minutes and turning up late😁

Keep warm Mick and thoughts to anyone with troubles.
Will read through properly this evening.

Good morning from the NE where it is 0 and we have just had another dusting of snow.
SIL coming to take me shopping and then to the dentist after lunch.
This is the last trip out with SIL as he travels to his home in Brussels on Friday and will be away for the rest of the month.
DS is going to take over the shopping trips.
Enjoy your outings.

My water feature had a leak , it has been mended , this morning it has a thick ice covering .
I panicked but , with the aid of a pan of boiling water , I have managed to make a round hole in the ice , so hopefully it will be ok !

Marydoll your DH must need nerves of steel being married to you!.
Ekwa, he is a keeper! 🥰

Good morning from a bright, but very cold Durham. We had a dusting of snow yesterday, but nothing more - thankfully.

Last night a friend and I booked a break in Cyprus for late May. Cheap and cheerful, but it gets us away from our homes.

Today, DD2 and I are off to Crufts - we’ll check into our Hotel and use the Spa later and go to the NEC all day tomorrow and Friday morning, then drive straight home from there.

I now have the arrangements for my dear friend’s funeral - the week after next. Both DDs want to go with me.

Best wishes to all. X

BlueBalou Wed 08-Mar-23 09:01:25

It’s still snowing here Grandmabatty, bitterly cold wind too. DDog enjoyed chasing around in the snow though!
This is my back garden 🪴

Stilllearning Wed 08-Mar-23 08:59:42

Morning from S Lanarkshire, clear and very cold.

I’m getting organised to go into Giffnock later on to stay overnight at DD’s since snow is forecast for my part of the country from early tomorrow and I’m afraid of not getting into Glasgow for my bus to Oban. May not happen but I don’t want to take the risk.

Mass shortly and exercise class en route to daughter’s house this afternoon. I am not good at complicated arrangements any more and feel slightly stressed!

Grandmabatty, yet another creative plan, what a lovely idea to write down and illustrate your stories for your grandchildren to keep, that will become a family treasure.

I was scooting through the posts yesterday and read about the plans to book Eurovision tickets. I laughed and thought ‘ bet that’s Shazza, scrolled up and there you were! I admire your energy🙂

Hope you feel better Ekwa, I was thinking you must be feeling really rotten to cancel your holiday.

Enjoy yours BlueSapphire

Best wishes all, keep safe in the snow🦩

Good morning from an overcast & dry Sefton. We have a snow warning for this morning but the clouds don't have that 'heavy' look about them. The dog walkers have their 'big coats' on, but the schoolies obviously don't feel the cold. Take care out there if the snow & ice has caught up with you.

I no sooner felt improved from February's lengthy bout of very nasty viral bug (not Covid or flu) which took weeks to clear than I have been ambushed by yet another variation/variant of nasty viral bug. Back to hacking cough etc etc etc. Have had to cancel meals out, theatre trips, classes. So no daily plans to comment on. Will potter gently around with small jobs, like a lot of you I like to keep busy & hate enforced idleness......unless it's cooking when I'm more than happy to be idle.

Thinking of those with medical issues & family problems - ((hugs)) & flowers.

Grandmachrisy47 Wed 08-Mar-23 08:44:52

Good morning Annapops, just popped back to say I’m hoping to visit Beamish to see the 50’s village as the ice cream parlour is from a village close to where I grew up. A picture would be good 😀 enjoy your day.

EkwaNimitee Wed 08-Mar-23 08:43:22

Good morning Mick and everyone from a brilliantly sunny Carlisle where it is -4C currently.
I think the cold will affect your getting out and about this week, Mick? I hope the medics will get your breathlessness sorted soon.

Yesterday I was let down by Tesco deliveries. They didn't. I was texted my lunchtime delivery spot at 7am. After they were nearly an hour late, I started to while away the wait by checking my emails and found they had sent me one soon after 8am cancelling it. Next available slot late Friday evening. Having cancelled this weeks holiday, I'd brought next weeks delivery forward. Fortunately I have plenty of food except for fresh veggies and yoghurts. I wasn't up to driving or I'd have gone to Sainsbury's so it was canned veggies in the tagine. I find this morning that it wasn't just me but thousands of rather cross others.
I'll be able to get my veggies this morning as I've actually been called in for a face to face at the surgery. I managed to get the appointment at the one in the city centre so I could get there by bus if necessary but I think I can drive today. I shall be able to go to M&S for the fresh stuff and drop more books off at Oxfam.
A lovely piece about your GSs Grandmabatty, it's very rewarding to see the young ones enjoying stories and reading. My youngest GS is approaching his teens and is still a bookworm, which I'm very happy to see.
I shall start a new book myself today having polished off my Scandi crime novel in no time, an enjoyable read, especially as it was a free one!

Marydoll your DH must need nerves of steel being married to you!

And, finally, I wish you all the best possible day.

Grandmabatty Wed 08-Mar-23 08:42:29

Annapolis you definitely should write down your family tales! My grandmother had a sad but very interesting life. We gleaned some of it but not all and I would have loved if she had written it down or told me and I could have written it down.

aggie Wed 08-Mar-23 08:41:43

Good morning from a bright Co! No snow yet !
Yesterday was lovely , sunny but icy , I had the awning out and the doors open it was so warm in the room
Off to Club shortly , we had our meeting yesterday and have sorted out a few wrinkles , one being that our Chairman feels he is on borrowed time and needs help , we resisted his efforts to appoint a successor, but redoubled our help

NanKate Wed 08-Mar-23 08:41:37

Morning Mick and All.

Light covering of snow in West Sussex.

Just two and a half more days looking after the DGSs. Exhaustion not quite set in yet 😉

Anniebach Wed 08-Mar-23 08:38:32

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Forsythia Wed 08-Mar-23 08:35:44

Light snow here today on the south coast. Was quite heavy at 6 am but now it has stopped. The sky looks heavy so more to come I think. Today, a use it or lose it keep fit class then an afternoon of sorting through a few cupboards I think. I’ve got a huge veg chilli in the slow cooker, enough for tonight with several more portions to go in the freezer. We are trying to lose weight….that old story 😂
Hope everyone has a good day.

hulahoop Wed 08-Mar-23 08:33:28

Good morning from a frosty west yorks. Its my daughters 40th today going to trim house up later . Take care in the snow everyone.

Annapops Wed 08-Mar-23 08:33:14

Good morning all from County Durham. Today no snow is forecast so we are planning to take a trip to Beamish Open Air Museum for a wander. The 1950's area is beginning to take shape so it will be interesting to explore. I'm really looking forward to the rebuilding of The Grand Picture Hall from Ryhope Village, a place my mam and dad would have visited in their youth. Apparently once completed they will be showing films with equipment donated from Durham University.
Like you Grandmabatty I've started telling GC stories but they are about their GGgrandparents and their family.
Some wonderfully funny stories have been passed down which the children are fascinated by. One involves a GAunt cutting up her mother's only evening dress (GGparents were retailer's and attended a once a year ball) thinking she never wore it, to make a dress for a friend who only had one ragged one and who also wore no shoes.
As GA was only 7 years old you can imagine how rough the "new" dress turned out plus the wrath of her mother upon discovery of her beloved evening dress cut to shreds.

Maybe I should write our little family tales down before they are lost forever.
Have the best day you can everyone.
