Good morning from a dark, clear Bo’ness.. I suspect there is frost as it is very cold.
We spent the morning walking round the little lake atKinneil castle just out of town, and the afternoon walking near
Loch Linlithgow and it’s castle. We couldn’t go into the very pretty St.Michael’s church as it was closed. We pottered a little in the old, very Scottish town centre, with its remaining beautiful stone buildings. The weather was glorious if a bit cold. The forecast snow came at lunchtime when we saw at least 25 snowflakes!
Today, we’re going to see the Kelpies and Stirling castle.
It is nice to be talking, I probably (pathetically) am talking too much but it’s such a nice change from saying ”hello’ in the paper shop being the only time I speak to anyone.
I hope you all have an agreeable day, that the cold is tolerable and that you are content with your lives.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩❤️

good morning, s somerset is cold with settled snow and much more to come

I am expecting a quiet day today, I had looked forward to a group talk but that will be abandoned today, I see that a local road is already closed due to an accident. No jobs as such, just hobby stuff, reading and so on

Flask filled with boiling water, just in case as much more snow forcast today

Good morning from a rainy south Cornwall. I can't write much because suddenly the pop-up videos won't go when I click on the X and are filling the screen.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 08-Mar-23 06:29:35

Good morning from a ghastly South Downs - wind, rain and freezing cold.

Hope the dog sleeps in a bit.

Yesterday was spent sorting out my wardrobe and looking out some spring clothes - I’m being optimistic.

Today I shall carry on painting some arum italicum spathes., also make some progress on another baby cot blanket.
All indoor enjoyment as I look out at my garden that I am desperate to begin the new gardening year in.

Salad (if I have sufficient in the fridge and greenhouse) and cold roast pork or if not Moroccan vegetable stew for dinner.
Keep warm everyone and don’t bother to go out😄

Ashcombe Wed 08-Mar-23 06:36:04

Good morning from a drizzly Torbay, with a wet day in prospect.

I know what you mean about the talking, grandMattie! When DH is in France, we have a daily Zoom and I usually fill the allotted 40 minutes with my chatting so we then have to restart the meeting to enable him to have a turn!! It sounds like you’re finding some beautiful places to visit.

A busy morning at Props yesterday as we had several folk from other amateur theatre companies calling to hire items from our extensive store. Some hadn’t visited our theatre before and loved seeing the auditorium with the sumptuous
set for this week’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest.

My thoughts with those facing difficulties due to weather or health conditions. Take care and keep warm! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning everyone from a still dark Northampton, but I can make out a powdering of snow on the rooftops, and the outside temperature is 0°. More snow forecast all day.

Up early because I have a pedicure booked for 9am - luckily the salon is just at the end of the road, so a 5 minute walk if that. I need my feet to look their best for my holiday -good luck to the beautician with that! Also having gel nails done on my toes.

Then home and start to sort out my packing, as I go tomorrow. Need a trial run and to weigh the case. The house seems very empty without the cats, but at least they won't be trying to get in the suitcase!

Enjoy your holiday, grandMattie.
Take care to people out and about today.

Good morning from a very wet and windy Essex by the sea.
Unfortunately I need to go out in it as I have a hair appointment at 9.30. Later DH and I have been invited to a NHS open day. Not sure what it's all about but as it's so hard to get a doctor's appointment it may be helpful.
Yesterday I picked up my new glasses and I'm very pleased with how they look.
Enjoy Wednesday but take care in the snow, wind, rain, or all of the above xx

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 08-Mar-23 06:49:39

An early morning all from West Oxfordshire. I had a peek through the window and there is snow! My car is covered in it. I still have my ever growing ironing pile to deal with! OH has a telephone consultation with his asthma nurse and I am still considering whether to send an engage consult about my arthritic thumb. It is the Local History Society tonight so I might trundle along to that. The meeting is only a five minute walk away. Have a good day.

BlueBalou Wed 08-Mar-23 06:56:31

Good morning from a very snowy village on a hill in Wiltshire, we have about 6” so far 🥶
Apparently there’s much more to come so that’s going to be fun!
Yesterday I finished sorting out all my kitchen cupboards and chucking into the recycling bins everything I no longer need. Very cathartic 😊. I have far too many storage tubs so I will sort those and put the unwanted ones on the local Facebook selling page as going free.
Today? Not really sure beyond DDog walk, staying indoors and keeping warm!
Stay cosy everyone 🤗

Good morning from a very chilly North Leicestershire. We have no snow but a little frost.

We have to nip into Leicester to find a present for one of our favourite sons in law and we have loads of jl vouchers.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 08-Mar-23 07:04:04

Morning all

It is very cold here in S E Essex and it’s snowing, I don’t think it’s going to settle as the ground is very wet.

Off to the gym this morning, then I should go food shopping which I was supposed to do yesterday 🤣

Keep warm folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Good morning from Colchester where there is a dusting of snow. A cold, damp day in the offing.
I caught a couple of glimpses of the Royals yesterday but didn't stand out waiting for hours as thousands did as it was freezing and the visit was short.
Usual Wednesday coffee meetup in the city centre today followed by a farewell lunch for one of our longstanding members who is moving to Scotland.
Love to all 🦩 x

Jaxjacky Wed 08-Mar-23 07:12:29

Morning from S Hants, a light covering of wet snow, 1.
I know what you mean gMattie when I was a new Mum in a new house and knew no one I fell on any f2f contact and didn’t stop talking.
No particular plans today, might go to the library.
Our grandson is now rash free.
Safe travels to those you have to go out when it’s inclement.

Grandmachrisy47 Wed 08-Mar-23 07:14:06

Good morning from a bright, dry and frosty Co Durham. We had snow predicted but so far we haven’t had any. Very unusual for the south of England to get it when the North East hasn’t. I’m not complaining though 😀

Quiet day today, no Dgd to walk to school, so why am I up so early?
Glad to read that some of you had good news yesterday.
GrandMattie, enjoy your holiday, I love that part of Scotland. Hoping to go to Dundee for a few days when the weather warms up.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Grandmabatty Wed 08-Mar-23 07:17:49

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -4° with blue skies. Grandmattie I'd forgotten about Kinneil Castle! Linlithgow is a nice wee town to visit. The loch is teeming with ducks and geese, or it used to be. Enjoy the Kelpies and Stirling Castle.
We have no snow here yet, although it's forecast for Thursday. BlueBalou 6 inches is quite a lot. Are you up high? To all those with snow, be careful and stay warm.
Yesterday was a good day with the boys. They behaved well and played nicely. The wee one just adores his big brother who often ignores him but yesterday he was inclined to play with him. It was sweet to watch. Dgs2 has also developed into as a big book lover and constantly brings me books to read with him. Dgs1 likes me to tell him stories. Unfortunately I made up a story and now we have to have it and further adventures of Mr Mouse every time he visits. I'm getting him to add to them too, to help his imagination grow. I think I'll write them down for him and do a bit of illustrating.
Today I'll visit my friend for an hour but that's all I have planned. I'll potter about the house. Too cold and frosty for the garden. Macaroni cheese for dinner. Have a good day all.

Grammaretto Wed 08-Mar-23 07:19:06

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It's cold -7° C but no snow.
Yesterday's sunshine was beautiful. I dropped all my plans to go for a walk where I met several neighbours and then I left for Edinburgh to watch my DGS who was playing his clarinet in a schools' music festival. It was a treat!

Yarn group today and continuing clearing my DMiL house ready for it to go on the market.

I'm glad you are enjoying your Scottish holiday gMattie

Have a lovely day everyone whatever you have planned.

Greyduster Wed 08-Mar-23 07:24:14

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s grey and very cold this morning. What a change from yesterday when the sun shone all day and warmed the conservatory enough to sit comfortably in there. Today just housework, and then son in law’s accountant is coming round again this afternoon. We are expecting snow at some point I think, so I hope he gets here.
Have the best day you can folks.

Urmstongran Wed 08-Mar-23 07:24:58

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It looks chilly out ut surprisingly not frosty. Himself is off to the surgery late morning for his second injection. I’m going to meet him afterwards in Starbucks in the square. I do like their coffee and the long window provides an ideal vantage point for people watching.

Keep warm and safe folks.

brook2704 Wed 08-Mar-23 07:46:36

Good morning everyone from Cartagena in Spain where it’s ……well it’s definitely a lot warmer than at home!
Hoping you’re enjoying your trip to Scotland gMattie and you’re getting the chance to talk too, enjoy Stirling Castle and the Kelpies
We arrived into Alicante on Monday evening, stayed overnight and then caught the local bus here yesterday. We’ve a lovely Airbnb at apartment overlooking the Calle Mayor and the bars and restaurants are just opening up. DH is going out to look for a panadería soon for some croissants for breakfast whilst I’m still lazing in bed. Later I think we’re off to the castle for some good views and then a bit of exploring the town
Take care everyone in the cold snowy weather and wrap up warm
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gingster Wed 08-Mar-23 07:49:15

Good morning all and it’s cold and grey here on the Suffolk coast. Breezy too with a choppy sea.

We shopped yesterday and then I went to the cinema to watch
‘women Talking’. Slow in parts but very emotional with brilliant actors. I loved it! As I came out the lady on the door asked how we found it. I heard very negative comments. Has anyone seen it on here?

Dh went to the local football and came home frozen. 🥶.

I must finish off my crochet blanket and back it with a cosy fleece. Also my painting by numbers which is very time consuming and a bit addictive. It makes my neck ache though!
Dh says I’ve always been ! (PITN) 😂🤣

We’ll get out with the little pooch, wrap up warm and enjoy the sea breeze.

Take care and keep warm 🌷
Y

Good morning from a snow-free Leicestershire.

Meeting friends for coffee then packing for our trip to Cheadle for a couple of days. We are meeting friends we met in Manchester nearly 60 years ago. We had thought it would be lovely spring weather!

Wishing everyone a good day.

ginny Wed 08-Mar-23 08:02:38

Good morning. There is a sprinkle of snow on the rooftops and cars but the road is just wet.
I have as WI report to write for the local magazine and some cards to finish off . This afternoon is craft club, not my turn to lead the project so I can relax a little.
Safe and happy travels to those on the move and kind thoughts to those who are poorly or troubled in any way.

Marydoll Wed 08-Mar-23 08:03:39

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is -7°C.
I had a particularly restless night, so a bit slow to get going today.

As usual, I got a bit carried away yesterday and overdid things. No surprise there.
I had a horrendous drive in the morning rush hour to pick up DH at Asda, near the car dealership. Salt from the road kept covering my windscreen and my windscreen water froze. Add to this, the blinding sun!
I had forgotten how stressfull rush hour driving is here, you need nerves of steel!
I was quite pleased with my driving efforts, even if my heart wasn't! It was pounding!

DH had already done much of the shopping, but had chickened out of using the self scanner, so I had to scan a trolley load.
My best bargain was two fluffy cushions, which matched my bed set. They were unpriced, but on scanning, I found they had been reduced to 70p!!!
Unfortunately, we were subjected to a random trolley check, it took ages because none of their scanners were working.
I was getting more and more anxious, worrying that we had missed scanning something.

The minute I mentioned TKMaxx, DH paled and said he would just walk back to the dealership and see if his car was ready. He is so impatient! This curtailed my activities greatly, as I knew I couldn't carry much. 🤬
There were lots of ceramic pots for the garden, which I could not lift, so they remained on the shelf. 😞
To add insult to injury, DH spent the next ninety minutes, waiting for his car, so he could have helped me.

In his defense, he took my prescriptions to the pharmacy, because I was struggling after my exertions, Totally ignored the ^10 spoons advice. blush
Despite giving him a printed list of what he had to pick up, he came back without half of them, including the CD. 🤷‍♀️
If I feel ok, I will need to go and pick them up later.

Talking about the ten spoons advice, perhaps I didn't make myself clear. They are meant to be short, light activities, eg: making lunch, light dusting, half an hour pottering in the garden, nothing strenuous.
That is indeed, an enathma to me.😂

Have a good day folks. Take care if you are out on icy roads. brook I hope you are enjoying some sunshine and GM, have a good day out.

cornergran Wed 08-Mar-23 08:05:22

Morning Mick, morning All from a snow covered corner of Somerset. The sky is very dark and the snow is still falling.

Spent most of yesterday morning battling an on line chat, finally assured issues were sorted and an email would follow with details of the fix I’m not totally surprised to see no email. Back to the computer for me then. The snow is a concern as we’ve a long coach day out booked for Friday, a birthday gift for Mr C, will check tomorrow if it’s still going ahead.

Dust removal for us today, we’ll wait to see if the grocery delivery gets here. We won’t starve if not, two shops within a short walk will deal with anything that can’t wait. I’d sort of like a reason (excuse!) to don snow boots and wander out, I love snow until I realise how inconvenient it can be.

Take care everyone. Wrap up well.
