Hello all. I’m sat on the sofa with Ripley who was turfed off the back of the chair by Milo. She knows that Milo likes to sit on the left! I was supposed to drive our daughter to the station in Oxford, but I developed a migraine. The sun is very bright. So OH has taken her. He is taking ages as there are road works on the main road. He should have come back a different way, but forgot! I think he has bought a couple of pizzas for dinner although I cooked a massive spaghetti bolognaise for lunch. Here’s a photo of Milo and Ripley fighting!

Good evening all. It’s been a beautiful, though chilly, sunny day here. Sorry to hear you’re unwell Brook, take it easy for a while. I’m still dodging the Covid bullet, mostly because I seldom get out at the moment. Hope the little ones are soon better SueDonim, Grandmabatty and Grandmachrisy. Lovely puppy Neine ❤️. Hope all those “outings” bring you both good cheer Soop.
Time to relax with a small glass of Sangiovese 🍷Gotta finish the bottle grin

Late one here after quiz, take it easy brook blasted covid, still lurking.
Better health for the littlies, hope they bounce back as quickly as they go down.
PS we came second!
Night all 😴

Nannytopsy Mon 27-Mar-23 22:38:15

Good evening everyone. Our evensong last night was beautiful music with the words of the old prayers from my childhood. The small, old church was full of sound.
Today we have cleared up and returned furniture to its proper place. Shattered now!
DGD has asked to come for a sleepover tomorrow night on her own. We are a little bit sad that her brother has opted to stay at home. He’s growing up 😥.
Perhaps he just wants peace and quiet!
It’s been a beautiful day but cold. The rain is coming back …
Sleep well 😴

Good morning everyone from a wet Stockport.
Like most of you we had a beautiful day yesterday which filled us with hope but then disappointment again, but it is still March.
Some of you will remember my tale about the cleaner, due to start two weeks ago but who rang in sick.
I agreed to try again when she was better, since then nothing.
It would have been her second visit today.
I just wish she had been honest in the first place. My house is quite big but I didn’t want all of it cleaned, my GD and I prefer to do our own bedrooms , but she knew that on her visit.
She also didn’t drive and I think it was a fair walk but she also knew that.
If she had rung when she got home and declined the job I would have understood but hey ho that is life.
Back to the drawing board.
All your holiday plans and meet-ups with family make me sad but I must be content with my life as it is.
My GD’s friend has a GM a year older than me.
She does not have good health and is in a care home, she is actually bed bound.
She was admitted to hospital over the weekend with very low blood pressure.
When her family went to visit she asked if she had been sent there to die, I wept for her, how sad she must be.
My GD is going to visit this evening, I shall get a more up to date report then.
I am so lucky with my own health.
Have the best day you can everyone.

brook2704 Tue 28-Mar-23 13:00:07

Lovely to hear from you ann, I miss going to Stockport to visit my late mum, she used to live in Heaton Mersey. I hope you can get another cleaner, it does sound like the other one has let you down.
We’re the same nannytopsy with DGC growing up and sleepovers not as popular now. These days we’re much more likely to be ferrying DGC to and from various activities with a brief chat in the car than actually spending much time with them. Although I’m looking forward to them staying for a few days in the Easter holidays as DD2 and SiL are away
Hoping all the poorly little ones are feeling a bit better and back to normal soon
My covid cough has eased a bit thank goodness , it’s mainly just aches and pains and extreme tiredness - I can’t seem to stay awake so a good excuse to sit on the sofa and do nothing …..

Grandmabatty Tue 28-Mar-23 13:27:07

Good afternoon kitcheners. My house is an absolute riot. Every room is disarranged. But Brook I don't mind as it's easily sorted once the boys go home. I'm lucky that they are still small and dgs1 loves a sleepover at Grandma's house. I hope you continue to improve. Annsixty how disappointing for you regarding the cleaner. And how sad for your dgd's gran.

Baggs Tue 28-Mar-23 14:00:20

The state of our mud room yesterday – roof off, ceiling down, temporary roof on, rain getting in at the sides where tarpaulin isn't tight enough to, fortunately, the ouside house wall. Pouring down today so the joiner will be back "next dry day" which could be a week away....

Hey ho.

Blossoming Tue 28-Mar-23 14:08:04

Good afternoon lovely Kitcheners. It’s non-stop rain here today so no walk and no gardening. Well done with the quiz Jax, that sounds like a lovely evening Nannytopsy. How disappointing about the cleaner Ann, I agree about wishing people would be honest about their intentions. So upsetting for your DGD and her friend. Brook sleep is a great healer, hope you feel better soon. Your love for your grandsons shines through Grandmabatty.

I really must lever myself from this comfy chair and get on with some housework, we don’t have any excuse for the mess as we cause it ourselves!

Blossoming Tue 28-Mar-23 14:10:30

Crossed posts Baggs fortunately our dreadfully untidy kitchen isn’t quite that bad grin

Grandmabatty Tue 28-Mar-23 14:22:34

That should have said Annsixty your dgd's friend's gran.

soop Tue 28-Mar-23 14:55:09

Baggs Hey ho indeed.

We've been exchanging the room that we have booked in the Glasgow Premier Inn for an alternative "accessible room" that could be to our advantage.
Mr Soop suffers with chronic bad circulation in his legs. He needs to sleep in a chair. If not, he has debilitating cramps and spends most of the night hopping around the room. We'll be travelling by bus. Whenever we drive, he takes a sun lounger which gives him some respite. He never complains. Bless him.

annsixty Gentle hugs.

Llfl Your photograph made me smile. I have been watching a short video of a cat making itself comfortable inside an empty goldfish bowl. I enjoy animal antics. grin

Jaxjacky Tue 28-Mar-23 15:04:08

Perfect excuse brook.
A case of worse before it gets better I’d guess Baggs?
My son has been here putting bark over the flower/grasses bed, he worked in the rain, but was rewarded with bacon rolls and coffee. It looks loads better, hopefully stop the weeds too.
Daughter swooped in and out to pick up a European adapter for Imogen’s trip.
Very frustrating with your cleaner ann good luck getting another.
ttfn.

brook2704 Tue 28-Mar-23 16:54:03

Thank you all for your kind words, I’ve not moved from the sofa today. My Fitbit tells me I’ve done the grand total of 842 steps …. 🤣
That looks like a quite a job baggs fingers crossed for some dry weather soon for the work to continue
Sounds like your son has done a good job Jax anything you can do to stop the weeds must be worthwhile!
An accessible room sounds like a good plan soop hopefully a bit easier for mr soop, pleased you could change it

Yiayia4 Tue 28-Mar-23 18:43:55

Good evening Kitcheners.Get well soon Brook and rest up.
My hives seem better but the meds are spacing me out a bit, hopefully won’t have to take them much longer.
Our house sale is going O.K, the surveyor came yesterday. We are still looking and have a few more to see.
My DS’s friend’s wife had her first chemo today.I spoke to her at the weekend she is such a strong lady and determined to fight, such a great attitude.
It’s Dgs2’s birthday.today he is 15 time passes so quickly,It seems like yesterday I was looking after him like Grandmabatty with her little ones.
I hope Imogen enjoys her skiing trip Jax, my DGS1 loved it last year.
Have a good evening all.

SueDonim Tue 28-Mar-23 20:28:57

I’m sorry you have Covid, Brook. Will this wretched virus ever go away? sad

I hope the poorly grandchildren are all improving. My GS is a lot better now.

Just one word, Neine. PUPPEEEEEEE! ❤️

Norty cats, LLFL! I hope your migraine has gone.

It’s nice to see you Annsixty. smile

Whatever are you having done, Baggs? Those photos look…er…interesting!

Soop, has Mr Soop tried quinine for his cramps? Dh used to get agonising cramps at night. He read somewhere that quinine tablets help and asked the Dr. The Dr said they only help a proportion of people and that they don’t know why it helps but it was worth a shot. It did the trick for Dh! He then tried to wean himself off them but the cramps came back so he takes them all the time now.

I hope the house sale is progressing smoothly, Yia.

It was a wet miserable day here (after a glorious day yesterday) so I elected to stay home and do stuff around the house. I’ve cleared out one third of a sideboard, thrown out the rubbish and made room for other things which had been homeless. Bed has been changed, laundry done. I’ve done some life admin bits and pieces and have also arranged for a garden/landscaping chap to visit to quote for putting more slabs down in preparation for summer.

A new TV stand has been ordered so I’ll be able to make the sittingroom look nicer once the tv is moved from its current perch on a cupboard. I also made a new chicken recipe which I had tried on Sunday and burnt. 😳 I had another go but cooking for less time than recommended and it was perfect this time.

I actually feel as though I’ve been quite productive today. Tomorrow will be busy with our GD and other things so it feels good to have done this today.

TOYA. Xxx

Jaxjacky Tue 28-Mar-23 21:17:56

Very productive SueD making me feel guilty!
soopMrJ uses magnésium spray for night cramps, I know after I’d mentioned it a while ago some other gransnetters found it worked.
Thank you for Imogen’s good wishes, I’m hoping for photo’s.

Nannytopsy Tue 28-Mar-23 21:38:56

Evening everyone! Just back from a PCC meeting after a day of PCC & WI admin. DGD is asleep upstairs but DiL is proper poorly and DGS was anxious about her and wanted to stay home with her. She has had viruses, Covid, sinusitis for the last month and now has Bell’s Palsy and is feeling like death warmed up. It’s DGD’s 7th birthday on Friday, so I hope DiL is feeling better.

cornergran Tue 28-Mar-23 22:31:54

Oh heck, baggs. Hope it’s weather proof very soon.

Hope the change of room is helpful soop and your can both get some rest.

Good luck with a cleaner ann, I’ll be on a similar hunt very soon and am most definitely not feeling positive about the outcome. Cleaners are very hard to come by here.

Folk seem to have all been very busy, I’m full of admiration and feel positively inadequate. A quiet one for us today. Mr C was very tired after yesterdays medical stuff. Saw a very pleasant but very straight talking Professor who will operate. Depending on hospital pressures, and the impact of potential junior doctor action, Mr C should be summoned in 3-4 months time. The plan is two for the price of one cardiac surgery with around a 10 day stay afterwards. It’s good to have some clarity and to know we can aim for some pleasant things in the very near future.

My spine issues continue to cause pain, the approach will be planned ignoring. We’ll see good friends at the weekend and will find all sorts to laugh about, the best medicine there is.

Really should try for sleep now. Goodnight everyone. Sleep tight.

annsixty Tue 28-Mar-23 23:41:21

I am sorry about all the poorly people I missed today.
I was preoccupied with my own problems and feel very selfish.
Cornergran I feel though you make light of it that your DH is in for a big operation and I wish him well, also you with your spinal problems.
My neighbour has spinal stenosis and it does incapacitate her.
Brooke I hope your Covid soon clears up and you feel the effects of your holiday.
Soop your problems are ongoing, I hope you soon get some relief with your stoma and your knee injection.
To all others ill or caring, apologies for not mentioning you but I would have to read back over many posts and then I lose my own post but you are in my thoughts when I read of ills.
I can’t get to sleep which is now common with me, age has a lot to answer for.
I shall read a bit and then try to relax and hopefully doze off.
Good night everyone.

MrB had to take me round for a hospital check up on my broken wrist. I got lost between reception/x-ray dept/consultant's room so was there longer than strictly necessary. I always get lost in hospital, specially old ones that are complete warrens. It's very stressful 😬😥 I told one of the nurses to put a note on my file: "No sense of direction" or "Needs compass to navigate between hospital sections".

Anyway MrSurgeon told me my wrist would heal but that I would lose some up down flexibility which surgery could help. I asked him about twisting movements. That won't be affected, he said, and an operation was not absolutely essential. So I opted not to have surgery.

So now I don't need to go through any hospital stress for another four weeks when the pot will be taken off and I'll be given exercises to do.

annsixty Wed 29-Mar-23 13:55:45

Baggs
I think you have made a wise decision, although you are a mere youngster any operation is harder to get over as we age.
My neighbour had extensive physio after her broken wrist as it needs it but she recovered most movements.
Do you have the knitting needle with you at all times for the itching?

Baggs Wed 29-Mar-23 14:01:08

Do you have the knitting needle with you at all times for the itching?

😂😂

I dare not! Lots of instructions about not trying to push things into the plaster to scratch. One of my nephews used a pen to scratch his arm when it was in a pot. He was just a child at the time. When the pot was taken off the pen lid was found somewhat embedded in his arm!! 😳 Which, as my brother said, explained all the squealing as the pot was being removed!

So far, itching has not been a big issue 🤞

Good afternoon all should have been picking Gc from school but in the night I started with a sharp pain in my left side on movement think it could be inflammation of large bowel ,so I am still in bed resting .Hope to go in shower later ,there seems to be a lot of little ones poorly hope they all get better soon.I am like you Ann forget names so I will send good wishes to all.

Grandmabatty Wed 29-Mar-23 14:47:29

Good afternoon kitcheners. Both boys are much better and driving me crazy. Lots of rough housing, screaming and general merriment. We've been for a walk to the swings then it poured rain so a puddle splash and home. I have no idea what I'm having for dinner. Possibly chips, egg and beans. I hope Brook is ok and Sweety pie has called on Soop.
