Aww! You lovely lot shall see three more pics. Bless you.

soop Fri 07-Apr-23 16:01:21

We have a cloudless sky. This morning I walked for 30 mins with my stroller. If I can continue to exercise, I shall most def strengthen my leg muscles.

I am about to recap on all your activities.

soop Fri 07-Apr-23 16:16:27

SueD I fully understand how dismaying it must be for your dear son (and the rest of the family) when his body reacts badly to the cancer drugs. The team of specialists will do all that they can to replace the present meds with something that will hopefully be less troublesome. flowers

Jax Good! That's the mammogram crossed off your to-do list. I have had confirmation that mine is clear. Four years since the mastectomy. Onwards...and all that.

brook Oh, yes! I well remember have a similar crush around the age of eight.

Grannmarie I never tire of hearing about happy reunions between pets and their owners.

Tonight's glass of wine will be most welcome. I shall, as always, raise my glass to wish you all a pleasant and peaceful (for some) weekend. wink

brook2704 Fri 07-Apr-23 16:58:52

Thank you for more gorgeous pictures soop a beautiful family indeed! Pleased to hear your stroller is helping you get out and about too
It’s a gorgeous sunny afternoon here, we waved off our visitors this morning, stripped the beds and got all the washing done and dried outside so that we can put it all back on the beds ready for the next lot on Sunday 🤣 Just the mountain of towels to attack tomorrow … After that it was another food shop and then this afternoon I’ve been pottering in the garden. I’m whacked now so that’s me done for today. Nice and easy fresh cod fillets for dinner later with a few chips along the side, and even better just the two portions to make!

Blossoming Fri 07-Apr-23 21:49:18

Hello all, just popping in after a glorious day of sunshine, steam trains, gardening and gourmet cheese burgers.

I hope Grandmabatty is feeding better since this morning.

Love and virtual hugs to all 🌻

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 07-Apr-23 22:49:32

More lovely pictures Soop.
Well, I’m back in the mothership after a day of travelling - ship, coach, plane, another coach and finally a taxi! Here is a photo of the Gala dinner pudding.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 08-Apr-23 15:45:38

Hello on a beautiful sunny afternoon. OH has cut the lawns so the spring flowers are looking at their best. I had some lovely news today. One of my Australian (actually they’re all Australian) nieces is getting married in August in Sydney, and we have been invited! I’ll probably go alone as OH doesn’t like long haul flights much. I’ve spent the afternoon making lots of chocolate goodies for elder son and his family. They are arriving this evening and going back tomorrow. Have a good evening.

soop Sat 08-Apr-23 17:00:25

Easter greetings to you lovely lot, with very best wishes from the Soops. Whether you are travelling, staying at home, socialising or enjoying a quiet and relaxing weekend (as will we two), may you do so with contentment. flowers sunshine smile and a hearty group hug.

Grandmabatty Sat 08-Apr-23 17:04:26

Blossoming thank you. I posted on the Good Morning thread to say I was feeling better. It's been a lovely day here. I have changed the bedding and got it hung out and dried. I did an ironing too. Then weeded the front garden and blethered for ages to a lovely neighbour. Later I nipped up to dd's with stuff for the boys and for dinner tomorrow. The rest of the afternoon I have spent sewing a cross stitch in the vain hope it'll be finished by tomorrow. So a busy, productive but quiet day so far. * Ladyleftfieldlover* that's very exciting and something nice to look forward to. Suedonim I am sorry to hear that your ds is struggling with his medication. I hope something can be done. Brook enjoy your next lot of visitors who, I assume, are with you by now. Soop I hope you are having a good weekend too. Till tomorrow kitcheners.

cornergran Sat 08-Apr-23 18:21:08

Hello everyone. We’ve had a good couple of days. Hit the sea front yesterday deciding to be tourists. A walk, a sit, a walk along the pier, another sit and £1 of 2p pieces each for the machines. It cost us nothing to park and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves

Today two motorways were very kind, we had a delicious breakfast with a son in a garden centre close to his home. Delivered a surplus to requirements garden table to him. Weeded the raised beds in his back garden, had a good chat and returned home after finding petrol at 2p/litre less than here.

This evening it will be feet up with a glass of something each. Bliss

Lovely photos soop, you look so happy. Outings with your swish stroller will definitely strengthen your legs. No stopping you then.

Welcome home ladylfl, Australia to look forward to now. I’ve enjoyed your photos. Also the steam train blossoming, we had a fab trip on one last weekend from Cheltenham to Broadway, loved every minute. The other photo is of some blossom in our hotel grounds. You’ve had a busy day brook, Isn’t it good to be able to dry washing outside? One of life’s pleasures.

My best get well wishes to everyone under the weather or worried about poorly family. Look after yourselves.

SueDonim Sat 08-Apr-23 18:42:59

It’s chockablock full of photos here - how lovely! ❤️ It sounds as though everyone is having an enjoyable time.

I’ve just spoken to ds. He’s much improved from earlier in the week. He thinks his medics will consider that he’s had an adequate amount of the drug that causes that side effects and will just need to continue some oral meds for another four rounds. He tolerates that quite well, so we hope there’s now light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you so much for all your kind thoughts, I really appreciate it.

Dd and the GC came for their tea last night. Three hours of bedlam and they ate me out of house and home. I’d got in three different options for pudding - they ate the lot! 😂 And they’re coming back tomorrow, with GD staying over so we can look after her while mummy is working on Monday. (Not a BH here in Scotland)

Dd got our new tv working for us. It’s not entirely clear to any of us what she did to make it work but we’re grateful anyway! We can now watch something on it.

My ds2 is in France with his family, visiting the other Grandmother. They had a delayed start to the trip as their car developed a puncture before even leaving home. 😫 Dd2 is working all weekend in what will no doubt be a hectic A&E unit.

Take care everyone. Xxx

brook2704 Sat 08-Apr-23 18:46:30

It’s been another gorgeous day here, the sun shining all day but a bit chilly with a cool wind
Welcome home llfl and thanks for sharing all your holiday experiences with us, I love the gala dinner pudding! How lovely now to have a wedding in Australia to look forward to as well.
Gorgeous pictures corner and blossoming thanks for sharing
We’ve one more day to wait grandmabatty, our next lot of visitors arrive tomorrow afternoon. It’s my youngest stepson, his wife and 8 year old son who’s coming this time and we’re really looking forward to seeing them and catching up on all their news. They live in Manchester too but have been staying near Loch Lomond the last couple of days so not that far to travel in the morning
Enjoy your weekend together soop and hoping everyone has a lovely Easter 🐣

Nannytopsy Sat 08-Apr-23 18:48:46

Welcome to the kitchen * knspol*. There’s always a pot of tea and homemade cake here somewhere. There’s a ginger spice cake on the table so help yourself.
What a lovely trip soop - memories made.
We had an unexpected overnight visit from the DGC last night. DGD was under the weather but DGS was in good form. This morning he helped me plant courgette, cucumber and sunflower seeds and told me he enjoyed gardening with me. 😍
I have delayed seeds this year as I always start too soon, then the seedlings get forced before I can safely move them into the greenhouse.
I had a very productive morning with the chap who comes to help in the garden yesterday so tomorrow we shall be planting lots of perennials and shrubs, in an attempt to have year round colour. That’s once I get back from church …
Happy Easter everyone x

Grandmabatty Sat 08-Apr-23 18:51:18

Brook I mixed up Saturday with Sunday 🙄. Cornergran lovely photos. It sounds like you have had a good day. I just realised, after my healthy salmon fillet with salad and baked potato, that I had bought macarons from Aldi to try. So I tried them. They are delicious. I limited myself to two. I'm not greedy. 😋😂

brook2704 Sat 08-Apr-23 18:54:01

Crossed posts SueD, so pleased to hear your DS is a bit better and it sounds promising that he might not need any more of the drug with the bad side effects
Enjoy your family time with your DD and DGC , we have the same thing with food disappearing very fast here too!

Jaxjacky Sat 08-Apr-23 19:05:13

Hi all, thank you soop you too.
How exciting llfl more adventures, thank you and others for your pictures, I love a steam train Blossoming.
brook my Mum used to say feels like running a hotel here I’m sure she loved us all there, as you do your visitors.
My daughter expected Imogen home this afternoon, she had a call at 7:10 am, ‘Mum, can you come and pick me up from school’, not spoken to her yet, tomorrow probably.
As others, bedding washed, dried outside, MrJ has made our bed, I’ve knocked together chicken and leek pasties, a glass of 🥂 is being savoured.
Cheers all, enjoy your evening.

brook2704 Sun 09-Apr-23 12:12:12

Just popping into the kitchen to wish everyone a very Happy Easter 🐣
I’ve left a few chocolate eggs on the side so please help yourselves and for those who don’t like chocolate there’s a few cheesy nibbles too. The Prosecco is on ice and glasses at the ready .. 🥂

Grannmarie Sun 09-Apr-23 13:44:58

Happy Easter to all in Soop's kindly Kitchen!

Thank you, Brook, much appreciated!
I will contribute hot cross buns and Easter biscuits.

My sisters and I visited our brother last night. It was lovely to see him, our sister in law, and the gorgeous dog 🐶 who is staying very close to them after his unexpected incarceration. We had champagne, cheese and crackers, and chatted until 1 a.m. as we hadn't been together since our Chicago visit in 2021. We always end up with childhood reminiscences.

We are heading to a speciality restaurant in Glasgow later, to celebrate D Nephew 2's 30th birthday with family and friends, a very different Easter dinner this year!

Hoping and praying that everyone has the best day possible, TOYA.

cornergran Sun 09-Apr-23 14:44:05

That’s good news about your son sued. Don’t we worry about them?

Thanks for the chocolate brook. Always happy to help out with chocolate. grin.

We’re having a quiet day today which is fine. Good luck to everyone catering for many, I’m sure it will all be delicious and disappear quickly. Turkey for us today followed by a suitably chocolate dessert. I’m especially looking forward to the pigs in blankets and a Yorkshire pudding. I know, not traditional with turkey unless like our family you’re in the any excuse for a yorkie camp.

Take care everyone.

Nannytopsy Sun 09-Apr-23 15:43:27

What time should we arrive corner ? 😉
I am very fond of turkey, unlike the rest of my family.
We are meant to be planting in our big tropical bed but we have been sidetracked by a rugby game! I was awake from 3.30am, so I may have nodded off!
Enjoy the day everyone.

Charleygirl5 Sun 09-Apr-23 18:55:44

I washed 5 machine loads today. Perhaps I should have bought an industrial machine to cope with loads of washing. I live on my own, where does it come from?

It was pleasant enough to sit outside in between loads. I wanted to do it all today as rain is forecast for tomorrow.

Tonight it will be a stir fry when I sit down to watch Paul at Battersea. So sad.

corner I love dark meat so saving a leg for me would be much appreciated, thanks. May I pop in tomorrow? Do not go out of your way for me but roast potatoes and 3 different types of vegetables would be appreciated. Do not bother about gravy, I am not a fan preferring my food to be dry. No dessert thanks but wine with the meal and coffee afterwards would be much appreciated as would a comfortable bed afterwards.

Blossoming Sun 09-Apr-23 19:20:35

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. So glad your son is feeling better SueD. Lots of happy posts today, we have been visiting family, having a giggle, eating lots and reminiscing on our childhood. I reminded my big brothers of some of the tricks we played on each other and all laughing like the naughty children we were! Tired out now in a good way, will sleep well tonight for sure. A lazy day planned for tomorrow.

Grandmabatty Sun 09-Apr-23 20:00:01

I'll make bread sauce a la Delia. It's always a big hit. I've been at dd's and had a lovely meal. I'm now in my jammies and lying on the couch. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Grannmarie Sun 09-Apr-23 21:23:16

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. So many Grans enjoying family, friends and food! I hope everyone has had a happy and / or peaceful day.

SueD, I'm so glad to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel for your DS, sending love and prayers for his continued improvement. 🙏💕

We're just home from our family celebration for our nephew's 30th. He's a smashing laddie, he thoroughly enjoys being surrounded by family of all ages and stages. His special birthday was celebrated with his parents, all his aunts and uncles from both sides, his brother and family, several cousins, including my sons, and various nieces and nephews. The food experience, huge selection of roast meats served at the table from long skewers, was different and very tasty. A lovely family gathering. DS3 drove, so I could rest my leg.

Like Grandmabatty, I'm now on the sofa with a wee glass of PG, ready to continue Magpie Murders.

TOYA, NNGB.

brook2704 Sun 09-Apr-23 22:02:54

We’ve had another lovely evening with our visitors, DD2 and family came round too so 9 in total to feed and entertain - I’m tired now so have come through to the bedroom now and left them to it! More of the same tomorrow 😳
It’s lovely seeing everyone but like buses they all come at once …
Sounds like there’s been lots of lovely family get togethers and outings, grannmarie the roast meats on skewers sound delicious, a different idea that I’ve not tried before.
