Happy as we can possibly be
ALL GOOD Friends
And jolly good company.
Welcome.

Serious hair envy here granmarie. That looks lovely. Mine is fine and shedding regularly , I’m amazed the very young and very kind hairdresser can find enough to cut. That’s a heck of a long wait for physio, hope you’ll manage and it won’t be too painful in the interim.
Another here who can’t keep up grannygravy, the Kitchen is a busy place these days. There are days shoppimg works and days it doesn’t, next time will be different.
Please do rest the knee soop, I agree, knees can be seriously ouchie with injections. Best give it a chance to do its stuff. 🤞 it works.
Pleased you slept blossoming, my parents were always insistent we healed during sleep. No idea if they were right
. Hope you mend soon neine. Being in pain isn’t fun.
Decent day here, the sun shone, hooray. A big thank you to whoever sent it. We wandered further along the coast, enjoyed lunch and a windy walk along an almost empty and blessedly flat prom.
The montana has decided it’s Spring and has begun to open. If I can work the technology I’ll attach a photo.
Take care everyone. Wishing you all a restful evening .
Your hair looks lovely Grannmarie. I’m not doing too bad, was told to rest so I’m doing my best to obey! It doesn’t come naturally. I need to limit my screen time too. I have done some laundry and emptied the bathroom bins and other waste paper bins ready for the black bin collection tomorrow. Mr.B has been to Lidl for some shopping and has given me an enormous bar of their praline filled chocolate and it is delicious. I usually prefer plain chocolate and I generally find pralines too sickly sweet but this is just right. I’ll never eat it all so if anyone would like to share I’ll just leave it here.
Best wishes to Soop, Blossoming, Neine, Dusty and any other ' wounded so'jurs', hoping everyone feels a wee bit better soon.
Another gorgeous day , quite uncommon in darkest Lanarkshire 🤣 ! More washing out on the line, SueD I agree, one of life's small pleasures.
Yesterday I had a telephone consultation with GP about my knee injury. Long story short, now referred for physio, appointment may take up to 26 weeks, will involve telephone, video calls and up to three face to face appointments. Location may be anywhere in Lanarkshire...
GP advised continued paracetamol, tubagrip and Deep Heat, said hamstring/ cartilage/ soft tissue injury will take months to heal. Lucky white heather!!
So I'm now resting it on the sofa after being out since 9am... morning Mass, dentist, hygienist then cut and colour at our lovely hairdresser's new salon. We've been spoiled by her doing house calls!
I'll read through everyone's news properly now, TOYA even if I haven't mentioned you by name.
Have a lovely Thursday evening. 🥰
Lovely to have you with us, GrannyGravy.
Llfl I lurve the OTT decor.
Neine and Blossoming, lots of healing vibes.
Have just this minute returned from the GP's surgery. Had steroid injection into the knee bone. Eye-wateringly ouchie. Can only have three steroid injections per annum. Had one recently in my hand. Shoulder must wait in case I need another in the knee. What a palarva! Guess what? I must rest for the next two days. Ha! The steroid needs to work on the knee joint before being dispersed around the body. Anaesthetic will wear off around four o'clock. Painkillers at the ready.
Love to you all. I shall return a little later.
Blossoming and Grannygravy 💐 for you both. I'm having a quiet day pottering around the house and the garden. Lunch was leftovers from yesterday and dinner will be the rest of the Cajun chicken pasta from last night, so an easy day's cooking. Have a good afternoon kitcheners
Afternoon all, I apologise for not being a frequent visitor to the safe haven that is soops kitchen.
I do find it difficult to keep up with everyone’s news.
Just come back from what turned out to be an extremely quick in and out to our County Town. I got most of the items on my list, but I have definitely lost my shopping mojo
I used to relish looking (and buying) when the new seasons clothes were in the shops, I just wasn’t feeling it this morning. Instead I returned home decidedly gloomy. Will resort to finger shopping (online) this afternoon.
(((hugs)) to all in need 😘
Good afternoon lovely Kitcheners. I slept like a log last night! It’s not so painful this morning, just very red and bloodshot. I’m resisting the temptation to look in the mirror. I hope I don’t have a black eye.
Your sore face sounds much worse than mine * Neine*, hope it heals quickly.
Hope the injections go well Soop.
Morning! An early start as we have to get two DGC to school. Hope all the appointments go well today. I hope to do some gardening.
Well done with sticking with your personal training sessions SueD not easy I know.. I don’t have a PT but I did the circuits class at the gym today, 45 mins of torture! I’m just trying to improve my upper body strength as I was finding it difficult to lift my suitcase into the overhead lockers on the plane! I think I’m gradually getting a bit stronger, we’ll see on my next trip down to Cambridge 🤣
I’ll try to waft some sunshine down to you corner but I’ll probably need it back soon!
Hoping everything went ok today Jax
I’m rushing in to join in the group hug! {{{{ 👩👩🦳🧑🦳👱♀️👵}}}}
Agreed, Grandmabatty, it is a special thing to be able to be a close part of your GC’s lives. We’ve never had the opportunity to do this before and it’s lovely. My GD told me today that I was the best grandma, best at everything, apparently! Money can’t buy that sort of moment, can it? ❤️
I had no idea LOTV is poisonous! I seem to have survived the night so hopefully I’ll be ok.
Blossoming you’ve been very brave, that sounds an awful treatment to have. I hope you begin to feel better soon.
NaughtyNeine, that’s one of those ‘You’re not going to believe this…’ events. I hope the sore face improves soon. Have you arnica tablets for the swelling? I thought it was an old wives tale but after I was knocked down by a cyclist I tried both tablets and cream and it really helped.
I hope your GP can find out what’s happening with those phone appointments, Soop and that the injections help.
It’s been busy here and the door knocker never stopped all day. The patio furniture arrived although it’s still sitting outside in the boxes as we didn’t have time to unpack it. Hopefully tomorrow although I’m out all day so maybe Friday!
This morning we had our weekly personal trainer session. We’ve been using him since about Feb and at first it didn’t seem to be doing much to improve our fitness. However, I realised the other day that I got out of dh’s low-slung sports car without using my hands so I think I am starting to see the benefits now. The aim is to improve our general fitness and strength - I’m not planning on entering any Iron Man competitions or anything! 😂
This afternoon was our weekly dance run with our GD. It’s so nice to do things in the sunshine and not have to lug coats around everywhere. And GD wasn’t covered in mud today like she often is, haha. She took advantage of the sun to have her snack in the garden and was most complimentary about my new washing line - it’s so funny how such small things can delight them.
Wishing you all some sunshine tomorrow. Xxx
Am I too late for the group hug? Hope not.
Well done blossoming, hope it’s not too painful now. Same for you for those injections tomorrow soop, although they can ease pain they can be pretty uncomfortable in the event. Will you mention the mystery of the missing phone calls to your GP? Sometimes they can and will chase.
No sunshine here today. Grey and dismal. I so dislike this overcast weather, after a while it feels as if the sky is sitting on my head and yes, I do know that isn’t possible
.
An active sort of a day here. Curtains refreshed and hung, cushion covers changed, a steam train trip booked with the help of a very kind young woman in their office, dust removed, groceries received and absorbed by the cupboards, some financial admin completed before finally an email to a buddy. We even had time to go out for an excellent mid week roast lunch which cheered me enormously.
Wind down time now. Sleep has been elusive recently, best try to relax and properly wind down.
Rest well tonight everyone.
Get better soon dusty💐
Well done Bolossiming fingers crossed for improvements soon.
I think you probably have been busy SueD! Bet you’ll thoroughly enjoy your garden, bring on the sunshine.
Yearly MOT at the surgery today, they’ve improved their processes and have new staff, a clinical pharmacist for one who’ll ring me tomorrow.
We’ve just been out for a drink with a friend, he’s still working 30 hours a week at 75 butchering, lovely bloke.
Off to sort dinner, enjoy your evening.
A group hug sounds perfect soop, hope things go well with your injections tomorrow
Blossoming I bet you’re pleased it’s all over with now - well done
Another really gorgeous sunny day here in Inverness, we’re definitely lucky with the weather just now. We dropped DGD off at school this morning, she’s been so good lately it’s lovely having her to stay over. A quick trip to the gym for a circuits class followed by a dance class and then home for lunch. I was out in the garden all afternoon and had a quick chat with our next door neighbour through the garden fence. Quick and easy quiche and salad for dinner and then that’s me done for the day.
Hope you’re feeling much better soon dusty and the new meds help
I agree about the washing drying outside SueD one of life’s simple pleasures
nannytopsy hope the swimming went well and they weren’t too hungry!
Naughtyneine ouch! That must have hurt. Soop definitely a group hug is required. Blossoming well done. That sounds very painful too.
I have just dropped off a friend who came to lunch and to catch up, despite a really painful knee. The lunch was courtesy of M and S and very nice it was too. I have a carton of soup for tomorrow and some sandwiches and cake left so that'll do nicely. Pasta tonight with chicken and ham I think, but later on as I'm not hungry just yet. I wish you all a good evening Kitcheners.
Bless you lovely lot for allowing me to vent.
I have a GP appointment tomorrow for cortisone injections in my hand and knee. No phone call from the two hospital on-line appointments.
It is a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine. I haven't be too energetic. We did motor a neighbour into town so that he could collect his van after an MOT. I have dusted and rearranged some bookshelves. Otherwise...
Please take good care of yourselves. Especially those of you with health issues.
A group hug might do us all a lot of good.
Glad to hear that you’re home now Blossoming. 🤞 for the best outcome.
I don’t envy you having a procedure on you eye.
I had the first (temporary) stage of a crown on my back tooth yesterday. That was bad enough!
Great news Blossoming...well done you. I'm really squeemish about injections and eyes too.
Soop.... Maybe a call to the consultants secretaries are in order now... along the lines of you were wondering if you missed their call ( you know you didn't buy it's better than blasting off on all barrels like you probably want to do).
Yia... It will happen just when you least expect it...I wasn't even supposed to be here in the West Country to view the cottage...DOH was due but I was unwell and came home from London and he then had a meeting so I came to view it...fell in love...and 6 weeks and a day later we moved in.
Dusty.I hope you feel better very soon.
SueD... I'm so with you about the smell of line dried washing.
I'm just having a cup of tea in the garden.. In having to sip from the right hand side of my mouth as Luna DDog 3 have me a 'Glasgow 'kiss last night. She really didn't mean to I leant down as she jumped up...cue bonus pouring from my mouth and a fat lip today. It's actually given me a preview of what I'd look like if I had fillers...🤣
I’m home. All done. We had a student optometrist sitting in. I don’t mind having students in my appointments, they always ask if it’s OK. Usual stingy eye drops, the actual injection was OK. Starting to hurt now the anaesthetic is wearing off and it’s bruising. Not too bad if I keep my head still. Should see some results in a few days, fingers crossed. Follow up appointment in a couple of weeks. Going to have a nap now.
I’ve been out for coffee with the WI this morning - we do it once a month, visiting different cafes, usually with a shopping opportunity. 😉
This afternoon the family arrive, plus swimming for the local DGC. We usually take a snack for the swimmers but had a pointed text about junk food from DiL so they will be starving by the time we get them home!
Best get moving …
SueDonim only two days a week. Every day would be too much! They are looked after by my Sil's dad two days a week too. Dd doesn't work a Friday. The boys benefit from close contact with both sides of the family and I benefit from seeing them every week, a luxury which I'm very grateful for. Time quickly speeds on and the little years go by so fast, that I'm happy to help out, even if I'm tired. Sue I have a large clump of lily of the valley in my garden which was given to me by a neighbour when I moved in and did up the garden. Be careful though to wear gloves as every part of it is poisonous.
It’s four days since I visited the Kitchen! 😱 I must have been busy doing nothing for days.
Brodie castle, Brook. The last time we went in daffodil season it was late afternoon and the head gardener spent ages talking to us about the daffodils. It was so interesting.
I’m sure your forever home is out there, Yia. Have you thought of asking an estate agent to mail-shot likely properties in the area you’re interested in?
LLFL sympathy re the migraine. I had one yesterday. I’ve had them since I was 11. I’m still waiting to grow out of them, like the doctor said I would! 😂
Great bargains, Neine! That always makes a good day, doesn’t it?
That’s very disappointing, Soop. I hope the appointments are rearranged asap. Doctors are not on strike in Scotland so there must be another reason for the delays. It’s such a small thing to them, but such a big thing to us, the patient.
Grandmabatty do you look after your GC every day? I honestly don’t think I could do that!
Each of mine once a week is enough for me!
Our patio has been brushed and cleaned and is ready for the furniture that is being delivered tomorrow. We haven’t had an easily accessible garden for many years and I am so thrilled by this! Sunshine has also been ordered and seemingly will be here all day. ☀️ I am now also able to line dry my laundry and I am taking a ridiculous amount of pleasure in pegging it out, then sniffing that lovely fresh smell when I bring it back in. I’m easily pleased, you know!
I had a lovely gift in the post this morning. A friend down south sent me a package containing a clump of lily of the valley plants from her garden. I have put them into a large pot and I hope they flourish as I do love them.
I also received a postcard from my 8yo GS who has been holidaying in the French Alps. So sweet to see his writing! I must send him a card in return - even modern children still seem to like getting something in the post.
Tomorrow I am taking GD to her dancing class after school then she’s coming back to us for her dinner, then home. Her daddy is a farmer and this time of year he’s extremely busy so it helps my dd if we can do little things like that, so she just has the baby to deal with at tea time.
Take care everyone! TOYA. XX
Good evening to you all in this lovely, relaxing place. I’ll join your troublesome tum club Blossoming and soop.
I finally went to the doctor yesterday as eating two hot cross buns on Good Friday really upset mine. I was sent straight to our local emergency centre where, after a couple of hours wait, I was put on a drip for another couple of hours.
We are very lucky to have this facility so close to us but I wish I hadn’t had to use it!
I’ve got four pages of medications to take but as most medications seem to disagree with me, I’m waiting till tomorrow to start them slowly.
Blossoming I was really worried about my recent eye procedure and it turned out totally pain free. I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow.
soop you must be so worried about your poor sister, I hope she can have her operation done tomorrow.
