Evening everyone, not posted for a while though do stop by and read now and then.
Just had to say Soop how I think Sweetie Pie looks very similar to the cat in the children’s book ‘Six Dinner Sid’ and as he’s looks hardly undernourished I reckon he behaves in a similar way too.
Good wishes to all and thoughts to all with worries and concerns. Xx

cornergran Tue 09-May-23 19:35:19

Good news yia, I’m delighted for you.

Pleased to hear better news of your sister soop. A relief.

Manic day here, it does look as if we’re destroying our home. All seems very messy without skirting boards. Tomorrow we move furniture and the fridge freezer, empty a cupboard and wash everything in sight. There will be no washing machine for at least three days. Oh dear. Today I seriously wish we weren’t doing this.

Take care everyone. Safe travels to all on the move. Get well wishes to poorly folk.

brook2704 Tue 09-May-23 19:54:52

So pleased for you yia I hope everything goes well and things move quickly
Ahhh yes SueD I remember that you used to live in Aberdeenshire, we were very impressed with Crathes - the cakes in the tearoom were very good too!
It’s been a day of sunshine and showers but I did manage to get the washing dry. We’ve been out and about picking up DGD from school then after school activities etc and then back here for her usual Tuesday sleepover 😴
Hope the storms don’t develop into much Jax
I’m sure it’ll all be worth it corner - remind me again what are you having done?
I was wondering where SweetiePie was soop. pleased that he’s eventually put in an appearance
Beautiful photos, thanks
I’m the same graanmarie, not a fan of the airport shenanigans but always pleased when we arrive. Have a lovely holiday 😎
Hi to mamaa good to see you here

Yiayia4 Tue 09-May-23 20:38:40

Have a wonderful holiday Grandmarie☀️🏖️⛱️

Jaxjacky Tue 09-May-23 20:39:26

No storm brook a ten minute shower was the lot. It’ll be worth it corner in a week or so you’ll be loving the floor, it was the floor wasn’t it? 🙂
Good news Yia I’m pleased for you, hope it’s all plain sailing ahead.

Nannytopsy Tue 09-May-23 20:49:45

Evening everyone! We were expecting heavy rain today, so I shopped, admin etc but the rain didn’t t come until late. I could have been in the garden! Tomorrow looks very wet but never mind, I have plenty of ironing!
Well done Yiayia. I hope all goes smoothly.
Glad Sweetie Pie has shown his face! I still miss Charlie 😥.

SueDonim Tue 09-May-23 20:54:38

Mamaa I had exactly the same thought about Six Dinner Sid! Sweetie Pie is a very handsome chap, Soop. I am glad your sister is making progress, too.

Huzzah for the accepted offer, Yia!

Brook we never came to terms with the ‘new’ cafe at Crathes. I don’t know if you noticed the circular building nearby, a converted mill steading? The cafe used to be in there and was much nicer than the modern version even if the food was the same!

brook2704 Tue 09-May-23 21:50:41

Would that be where the gift shop and ticket desk is now SueD? I think that was a circular building but I’m not entirely sure! The food was lovely but the tables, chairs and benches were a bit ‘canteen’ like!

SueDonim Tue 09-May-23 22:12:22

Last time we were there the gift shop was opposite, in another building with big glass doors and windows. Though it has been in the round building before now, so who knows. grin At one time that bit was just sitting empty which seemed such a shame when they are characterful buildings.

brook2704 Tue 09-May-23 22:20:21

Thanks SueD

More like Ten Dinner Sid!
We had a busy ish day. We had some new curtains made for the downstairs bedroom/office so it took a while gathering then, putting the hooks in etc. they look so good we realised the rest of the room needs doing too! I got in touch with the decorators and they can come October/November. I have sent for the first batch of wallpaper samples.
I took my food processor to the tip , it lasted a long time and OH bought me a new one for my birthday. I also collected my dress from the seamstress. She had turned it up and shortened the sleeves. Commiserations and 💐 to those of you suffering heartache.

Grannmarie Wed 10-May-23 07:32:24

Thank you, YiaYia and Brook.

Nannytopsy Wed 10-May-23 12:08:22

Well it’s a beautiful morning so celeriac, spinach and red lettuce planted out. Resting gammy knee before putting a climbing rose into my big planter.
All this talk of Scottish trips is tempting me to go North. We went to Mallaig and that coast a few times when I was a child and also to Arran. Must work on DH …

annsixty Wed 10-May-23 12:47:44

Good afternoon all.
Sainsbury’s is all put away, the dishwasher is emptied and apart from cooking a very easy tea that is me for today.
I had a very bad night and am so tired today.

My D has booked a lovely cottage in N Wales for her, my two AGC and me for a week in July.
I am half excited and half nervous as to how it will be.
I haven’t had a holiday for four and a half years and N Wales was my late H and my very happy place.
We had a static caravan there for several years before he succumbed to Alzheimer’s.

It is raining again after a bright morning and I had my lawns cut yesterday so that was good.

Still thinking of you all with good news and not so good happenings in your lives.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Grandmabatty Wed 10-May-23 16:12:09

Afternoon kitcheners. Annsixty that holiday sounds lovely. Nannytopsy I'll put the kettle on ☺️.
I've been over to the hospital twice so far today and will do a quick visit just after tea time. Mum was much more alert today and able to make conversation, albeit slowly. She's still on antibiotics for pneumonia and they are waiting for an MRI to confirm a stroke or not. In the meantime she is being very well cared for by lovely nurses. Tomorrow I'll go once in the afternoon as I'm determined to keep going to my art class. Bolognaise for dinner later. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Grannmarie Wed 10-May-23 17:19:23

I'm glad to hear that your Mum is a good bit brighter today, Grandmabatty. I hope you are looking after yourself too!💕

Your family holiday will give you something nice to look forward to, Annsixty.

You've been busy, Nannytopsy! I hope your knee feels a bit better now. I'm resting my wonky leg for a wee while, it's throbbing like toothache after a busy day.

TOYA.

GrannySomerset Wed 10-May-23 17:25:17

How thoughtful of your daughter to book a holiday you can manage because presumably you can take part in as much as you feel able to. It sounds lovely and something you need and will benefit from, so don’t overthink it and go with the flow - not easy when we have been the organisers and arrangers for so long, but a graceful reaction nevertheless.

Jaxjacky Wed 10-May-23 19:16:15

You must be on countdown Grannmarie have a lovely holiday 🌞🌞
Something to look forward to annsixty focus on the excited bit of you.
Better news on your Mum Grandmabatty long may it continue.
Out and about today, library and bits of shopping, a few showers I avoided. Something, I assume slugs, has eaten my beetroot seedlings, very annoying, I’ve resown them.
Chicken sausages, mash and beans are on their way.
Enjoy your evening.

brook2704 Wed 10-May-23 19:29:54

So pleased you’ve got a holiday to look forward to annsixty, North Wales is beautiful and I’ve lots of very happy memories of holidays there many years ago. I’m sure you’ll all have a lovely time
I’ve had a busy day today, we dropped DGD off at school and then I went over to the gym - the circuits class, dance aerobics and then Aqua aerobics. Then over to Starbucks to collapse on the sofas and enjoy a good catch up with my pal. At least tomorrow I can have a rest ….
Good to hear your mum is a bit better grandmabatty and enjoy your art class tomorrow
Nannytopsy come on up, you’re very welcome!
Happy holidays grannmarie, is it tomorrow you’re away?😎

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 10-May-23 21:40:54

I had a lovely time at the Local History Society tonight. The ex Director of the Oxford Botanical Gardens gave a brilliant talk. Sadly though we were told before the talk started that one of our members died last night. He was married to a lady I have known for over forty years. They were both widowed a few years ago and married just before the pandemic. He had no children but she has a family and grandchildren. We were all in shock. I told OH when I got home and he can’t believe it either.

brook2704 Wed 10-May-23 22:18:44

That’s sad news Llfl sending condolences to the family 💐

cornergran Wed 10-May-23 22:41:35

Sad and shocking news ladylfl, I’m so sorry.

We’re as ready as we can be for the start of new flooring tomorrow. Hall and kitchen, they flow into each other. Spaces to store the white goods from the kitchen have been hard to find. Our home is tiny. We’ve moved furniture into the living room and conservatory to make convenient space and trundled the fridge freezer into an accessible spot.

Torn off a strip by our granddaughters mum for not seeking her help. We managed, slowly, both think it’s important we do. Skirtings are off, goodness it’s all looks scruffy. 8am tomorrow should see folk arrive to disconnect and move the white goods. 8,30 the fitter is due.

Discovered an un pleasant smell in our outside cupboard today, suspect a rodent has used it for their end of life. First job tomorrow is to investigate. With luck the forecast storms will miss us and I can then potter in the garden. Mr C is troubled by his inability to finish a jigsaw, well if he will chose one that’s full of green - everywhere - he’ll sit with that I’m sure.

Keep your fingers crossed for us everyone. There was a lot of sighing when the fitter came to look at and quote for our floors, constant muttering about anticipated difficulties in the kitchen.

Sleep well everyone. Thinking of you all.

Grandmabatty Thu 11-May-23 08:18:50

I hope the flooring goes well today Corner and the unpleasant smell dissipates. Ladyleftfieldlover that is sad news indeed.

Jaxjacky Thu 11-May-23 08:25:57

Oh dear llfl such sadness.
Good luck corner hope it goes well 🤞.

soop Thu 11-May-23 12:54:10

Welcome back, mamaa

Sad news Lfl flowers

corner OMG! Expired rodents stink. We have had few such episodes to contend with.

Grandmabatty Good for your Mum. You will feel a whole lot better knowing that she is being well cared for.

annsixty Bravo! You deserve a holiday.

Grannmarie Happy hols to you too.

Good news is...we'll be having lunch with Baggs next week. I have an appointment with the stoma consultant in a hospital on the outskirts of Glasgow. Baggs can meet us after the event.
