So sorry Grandmabatty
How upsetting for you.
Your brother has let you both down in a big way.
I hope there is a good outcome.

Grandmabatty so sorry to hear this, you must be infuriated and worried, at a time when you’re not feeling the best too. Please take care.

Hello! I’m sorry to hear of all the difficulties with some of our Kitchen people.💐
We’ve just got back from a lovely day in Kew celebrating our granddaughter’s 7th birthday. We had a picnic in Kew Gardens and then back to their place for present opening. Have a good evening.

Grandmabatty Sun 07-May-23 21:33:03

Thank you ladies. I'm home from hospital now. Mum is comfortable and on a drip to help with fluids. She's sleeping and has had a chest x-ray and a head scan so we'll talk to the doctors tomorrow. I'm very tired after last night's shenanigans too. I appreciate your support x

cornergran Sun 07-May-23 23:31:04

Distance can be a real barrier soop, there will be a way to visit your sister if you believe it’s the right thing to do. Hope you get better news of her soon.

You’re right about the water colour. Every time I see it I smile. I am very ignorant about art. Years ago I worked in the local college school of art. Asked by a very abrupt and frankly scary tutor for an opinion about a display my first remark was that I knew nothing about art. A sharp retort came - you don’t have to know about it you just have to feel it. I’ve always remembered that and tried not to be intimidated by lack of knowledge.

What a day you’ve had grandmab, a lot of pressure when you’re not feeling 100%. Definitely time for some medical advice.

That sounds an excellent day ladylfl.

Good luck for your offer yia. It’s a stressful time for sure.

Pleased the time with your friend worked out ann. I don’t know what the answer is to non working hearing aids, I do know the outcome can be very frustrating for all parties. I’d have been the same about the music, no need is there?

We’re having replacement flooring fitted in a few days which means removing skirtings and several pieces of furniture from their usual spots to make room for the kitchen white goods to be stored for the duration. One of those things that seemed a good idea at the time. Now? Not so much! I’ve spent today trying to catch up with admin as I have no idea where the computer will live for the duration. Did manage a short walk along the river in the sunshine and admired how nice the montana looks from the footpath on the other side of the fence. Thankfully we’ve heard all sorts of positive comments about it, folk sometimes don’t realise a fence isn’t sound proof.

Time to try for sleep. Goodnight everyone. Sleep well.

Hello everyone. Quiet Kitchen today. It seems I’m a year older. How’s this for a birthday gift? Instead of the day out we planned it was watch our magician of a plumber repair our broken toilet flush. He never seems to have a day off and doesn’t charge the earth. A definite keeper.

We did manage a delicious breakfast as planned . Our rearranged day hasn’t been at all bad. Our granddaughters Mum offered to call or we could go there. Off we went, enjoyed a couple of hours with her and the granddaughters. Presented with a beautiful standard fuchsia we were forced (!) to go to the garden centre to purchase another, one destined for each side of the back door. Of course several other plants fell into the trolley. Oops.

Our son is taking his daughters out later. an unexpected invite to join them in a local pub has appeared. Our Littlest sang happy birthday by video ending with a big I love you lots. Triggered some tears. Not at all as planned but what a lovely day it’s turning out to be.

Hope everyone has had something they can enjoy today. There is much to worry about for folk in our Kitchen.

Thinking of you all with a special hug for grandmab and all folk with worries.

Happy birthday 🥳 🥂🎉Corner!
I had an annoying day. A migraine crept up on me. My medication (sumatriptan) did the trick but left me feeling drained. When I had perked up I did a Waitrose shop and collected a black cardigan. OH spent the afternoon playing U3A golf croquet and had fun. It is his turn to cook dinner but I said I would prepare some strawberries. He has never got the hang of the hulling device! Have a good evening, especially those of you with worries.

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!🥰

Soop, I'm hoping and praying that all goes well for your dear sister and that you will be able to visit or video call soon.💕🙏

YiaYia, fingers crossed for tomorrow, I hope you get your forever home. 🏡

Grandmabatty, thinking of you and your poor Mum, how distressing for all concerned. Please look after your own health too, you've had a lot to contend with recently. 💕🙏

Cornergran, wishing you many happy returns of the day!💐🍷 I'm so pleased for you that your plumber came out on a bank holiday!

We've had a nice family weekend, celebrating DH'S birthday. He has been well spoiled and it was good to see our three sons and their families. Now time to resume normal eating, and finish packing for our upcoming Spanish holiday. Its been pouring rain all day, we're longing for some sunshine. ☀

TOYA, NNGB.

Happy birthday Cornergran. Yia I will keep everything crossed for you!

So sorry to see your post this morning Grandmabatty, will be thinking of you flowers

Hope there’s some good news from your sister Soop flowers

Grandmabatty Mon 08-May-23 19:41:33

Thank you all. I'm just home from the hospital. Mum may not have a bleed on the brain. The doctor has assessed her and spoken to the consultant who is a stroke specialist and they're not convinced. So that's good news. She's on antibiotics for pneumonia and was given a top up of oxygen tonight before I left. She also managed to say a sentence which was a big improvement from this morning. I'm about to have dinner. A homemade hamburger on a roll with salad. Tomorrow I have the boys during the day and night nip to the hospital at night. I'm a bit more relieved than I was. You are all very kind

gillgran Mon 08-May-23 20:20:57

brook2704 Mon 08-May-23 22:03:21

Pleased to hear some slightly better news about your mum grandmabatty and you’re not quite as worried as before. Look after yourself too and hope you have a good day with the boys tomorrow. Sending hugs ❤️
We’re just home after our night away at the most gorgeous hotel in the Aberdeenshire countryside, the weather today was a bit wet but brightened up later on. We stopped off at Crathes castle, another NT property. The gardens especially were lovely although it was still a bit early in the season for much to be in bloom.
I hope you’ve enjoyed your special day corner it sounds like you’ve had a lovely time, and you too grannmarie celebrating your DHs birthday!
Hi to gillgran and fingers crossed Yia 🤞

Grannmarie Mon 08-May-23 22:36:47

Yoyr lovely photo brought back memories, Brook. DH'S niece was married in Crathes Castle, we had a wonderful day, beautiful setting.

SueDonim Tue 09-May-23 13:11:06

Crathes was our ‘local’ castle before we moved, Brook. We’ve been there numerous times. There’s always something to see in the gardens even in the dead of winter. ❤️

You must be relieved about your mum, Grandmabatty. I hope you’ve managed to see a doctor yourself by now.

You certainly know how to celebrate a birthday, Cornergran! I love the clematis. It reminds of my MIL whose garden was smothered in it in springtime.

We met up with dd and our GD yesterday at a new cafe. We’ll certainly be going back there! We had to dodge torrential showers all day. Today has been brighter but it’s just started to rain again on my washing. 😫

Our personal trainer has been this morning. We are improving our fitness, it seems, so that’s good. This afternoon it’s a visit to the PO to send some parcels then visit the chemist and do some food shopping.

Have a good day, everyone.

soop Tue 09-May-23 15:22:10

I am flummoxed. The long message that I posted yesterday has vanished into the ether. Apologies to all those of you to whom I sent special thoughts.

It is a glorious day with wall to wall sunshine. We strolled through the village earlier and when we returned, a certain wayward feline known as Sweetie Pie was sitting on the back doorstep. We haven't seen him for five weeks and, I confess to fearing that he had fallen sick or worse.
He wandered into the utility room as if he owned it and ate a hearty brunch. After much cleaning of whiskers and lolling in the sunshine, he strolled off into the copse. I captured him on the camera as he was about to continue his adventures.

soop Tue 09-May-23 15:30:23

My sister has had the catheter, morphine drip and feeding tube removed. She is sipping water. Our niece believes that she'll remain in hospital for a further week or more. Thus far, she has been in hospital for five weeks. We shall visit her in England when she is well enough to enjoy company.

I took some gorgeous photos of last night's sky. I would like to share with you.

soop Tue 09-May-23 15:31:34

A group hug and my very best wishes to you all.

Jaxjacky Tue 09-May-23 16:37:37

SP is making sure he’s not being taken for granted soop, smashing pictures.
I hope Grandmabatty has better news and I’m waiting, with bated breath to hear from Yia.
We are on a yellow warning for storms, a few rumbles and sunshine thus far, we’ll see.
A late evening at quiz yesterday, we came second, much to our surprise, my brain was still busy at bedtime, so not a settled sleep.
Enjoy your evening all.

Yiayia4 Tue 09-May-23 17:55:01

Lovely photos Soop Hope all goes well for your sister.💐

Wonderful news, YiaYia, I'm delighted for you and MrY.

Good news of your sister, Soop, baby steps in the right direction.
Gorgeous photos, good to see Sweetie Pie, what a fine specimen he is!🐈‍⬛

Well, I have packed for Thursday, this is when I go into panic mode... I wish they could just ' beam me up', I am not a fan of the airport/flight experience. I just like to arrive!
