The SNP is in a ‘tremendous mess’ apparently.

Since these two stepped down within weeks of one another the SNP seems to be imploding at a rate of knots.

What on Earth is going on? There is so much in-flighting.

I see that Peter Murrell has now been arrested…finally the whole story is about to come out!

Awfully convenient for us not to be able to comment, eh volver?

👊👊😂

Volver and others. I believe Scotland to be a fine country. I've lived there all my life. It's only since the SNP has taken over that my faith in Scotland and the Scots has been badly knocked. I'm hoping for better things and genuinely believe that working together in the UK for the benefit of all is the best way ahead.

Visgir1 Wed 05-Apr-23 10:10:09

Oh dear....perhaps we will finally get to the bottom why Mrs Murrell, went before she was pushed?
Don't think they can blame this on Westminster this time.

What I find on here quite often, is a complete disregard for nuance. It is often suggested that, let's say, nobody under 25 can go to prison and anybody aged 16 who wants to change gender can make irreversible decisions.

I find it odd. Its like everything's black or white, there's no in between. Judgement. There is room for judgement.

Nuance? Am I the only one who can see that there is a big difference between an much older man, stalking and violently raping a young teenager and and sexual behaviour within a boy friend/girlfriend relationship where the girl is below the age of consent? BTW The trans person was NOT committed to a Women's prison, only held in a secure unit there until sentenced.
Also the on going 'blame the SNP' rhetoric still being repeated, when it is a FACT that the GRA bill had cross party support in the SG with some members of each party (except the Greens) voting for the bill and some against.

Back in the 60s I left school to start work when I was 15, and paid tax and NI, married at 19 but did not get a vote until I was 21. Where was the 'No Taxation without representation' then?

Although at 15 I had a 4 years older steady boyfriend there was no full sex, unlike 50% of my pals, who had to wait until they were 16 to have a very quiet register office wedding, hopefully before the baby arrived. (Some of these have resulted in long happy marriages. Most have not.) Nature has decreed that many 13 year olds can father, or conceive babies, which means that they may also develop the urge to have sex. Arbitrary, man made Religious, cultural and legal standards can never be set to suit everyone - this is where judgement has to be applied.

Aveline you don't believe that we should be trusted to elect our own representatives because, uniquely in all the world, we're too thick.

I can't forget that, sorry.

The matter is active for the purposes of the Contempt of Court Act 1981 and the public are therefore advised to exercise caution if discussing it on social media. As the investigation is ongoing we are unable to comment further .”

So you won’t be commenting either?

Is this a first?

Mollygo Wed 05-Apr-23 10:29:17

V3 Some of us just don't think its our place to tell other people how to run their countries

As I said above, everyone's entitled to an opinion
Except that Scotland, is still part of the UK, so many of us think we are entitled to comment and share our opinions.
(Thank you for giving your permission😀).

I don’t feel it’s my place to tell Scotland how to run itself, but reading all the nastiness aimed at the ‘ UK’ by some posters who don’t want to be joined thereto, means I do notice the imperfections of Scottish politicians and parties rather more than I might otherwise do.

Got any example of the nastiness aimed at the UK? Or are they all in your head? Why is the UK in inverted commas?

And Scotland isn't "joined to it" it's an equal partner, although its not unusual for some Unionists to forget that.

Aveline Wed 05-Apr-23 11:09:56

Volver doll, I was quite happy with the previous Scottish govt aka Scottish Executive. It's just since the SNP got in that I soured so much.

volver3 Wed 05-Apr-23 11:11:28

doll 🤣

Is that your attempt to sound more Glaswegian and "down with the Scots", quine?

Aveline Wed 05-Apr-23 11:13:23

Just trying to take some of the heat out of it all. What will be will be. This too shall pass etc etc...

volver3 Wed 05-Apr-23 11:15:23

Then don't call me "doll".

Its patronising.

Caramme Wed 05-Apr-23 11:21:03

Keep your eyes open for the anti-Scottish sentiment. Once you spot it, you'll be amazed how often it happens.

Yes, and of course there’s no anti-English sentiment in Scotland.

volver3 Wed 05-Apr-23 11:25:07

Of course there is. confused We don't live in Utopia.

LiverLover

Haud yer wheesht hen.

On the east coast we don't say that.

More likely to say "Shut yer pus."

Well, I spent most of my childhood and young adult life in east coast Fife and ‘haud yer wheesht, hen, was something used regularly there. Never heard anyone say ‘Shut yer pus,’ though. Just shows how speech can change within a few miles.

Aveline Wed 05-Apr-23 11:29:52

Ever on the defensive Volver even with people trying to 'cool the jets' or is that patronising too? Doll was meant to be friendly by the way.

I have no desire to argue with you. Doing the ironing is frankly more appealing. I was just pointing out the obvious for the sake of balance. grin

Joseanne Wed 05-Apr-23 13:51:51

Ooer, I'm being very cautious what I say, (not that the gendarmes will ever find me here in sunny France), but did you gave some sort of a hunch Urmstongran when you started this thread and posted that photo?

Mollygo Wed 05-Apr-23 13:56:47

You said it. (Probably nuanced).😁

Joseanne Wed 05-Apr-23 14:24:31

I thought you meant by the French Mollygo - plenty, then realised your post wasn't directed at me! 🤣

Mollygo Wed 05-Apr-23 14:59:06

Sorry Joseanne. I’m hoping the person I was replying to was able to assimilate the information, but it wasn’t you. 😀

Kandinsky Wed 05-Apr-23 15:34:19

Oh dear, another major embarrassment for the SNP.

M0nica Wed 05-Apr-23 17:22:58

So the SNP is in a 'tremendous mess, actually', as the very prescient originator of this thread titled it.

grannypiper Wed 05-Apr-23 19:00:58

Where is Mrs Murrell, normally the first one having her say.
