Feeling really happy today

Today I got all my bed linen dried in glorious sunshine, smells so fresh, and the spaniel and I had a rain free walk for two hours in the woods, she did flush out a couple of pheasants, but they soared away over her head free to fight another day/spaniel!
So I’m asking, hoping something has made you happy?

Today is my granddaughter's 18th birthday. I've spent a happy day with her and my family. Present opening this morning, followed by lunch at a delightful Indian restaurant in Oxford. Eighteen years ago I was present at her birthday. Her parents very thoughtfully asked me to cut the umbilical cord. I felt very privileged to have that honour. I had been widowed exactly five weeks previously. This was a precious moment, never to be forgotten. When my granddaughter was tiny she used to point to her tummy button and say, 'You made this'. smile

Predictive text!! Should read... Present at her birth!!!

Yes my day was joyful and productive in the garden culminating in a visit to the tip. Simple and inexpensive joy indeed.

I am part way through a deep clean of the kitchen and I’m loving seeing the results of my hard labour grin

Yesterday a dog walk very early as the sun came up followed by an hour spent in the greenhouse sowing seeds was bliss, it’s the little things that give so much pleasure, isn’t it?

Yesterday I looked after my 6 year old granddaughter and 2 things made me smile. We were looking at the catkins on some silver birch trees and she told me, confidently, that they looked like ‘calipatillers’. ‘Oh caterpillars’ I said. ‘Yes, that’s right’ she said ‘calipatillers’. I’m afraid they will always be called ‘calipatillers’ in the family now! I then spent about 10 minutes playing a guessing came with her where I needed to guess an animal she’d though of beginning with ‘n’. It turned out to be a nunicorn.

I've just cime back from a lovely walk with friends round the Blenheim Estate. Brilliant clear blue sky, sunshine, ducks, narcissi - fantastic!

Nothing makes me happier for the day than when I wake up to sunshine, even if there is a frost on the ground! It's happened 4 days in a row now and I'm practically delirious grin,

Yesterday I gave the kitchen a deep clean and sorted all the cupboards. Today as a reward I had a walk in the sunshine to have my nails done.

What a lovely thread.

What made us happy may seem small by comparison.

We finally found a civil servant who was able and willing to help my husband get online to all government sites plus his online bank using the new security device issued by the Danish government.

First he had to wait months for one, then he twice got through to a most unhelpful person who refused to take into account that he found her instructions as to what to do on the computor difficult to follow.

Why didn't I do it for him, you ask?

Because by law I am not allowed to have access to his codes!

Now everything is sorted, so we have been able to check his bank account, digital post-box and his Income tax return, No really unpleasant surprises anywhere, so we are greatly relieved.

Digital post is ordinarily a good thing, as it is far quicker than snail-mail, and you don't need to be at home to check it, but this new security device has been a maddening experience.

Yesterday Spring had come here, today it gave place to winter again, but the sun is shining. It is just very cold outside,

What makes me happy is knowing my family are happy! and waking up to glorious sunshine as I’m going out on my walk, everyone I meet on days like see seem so much brighter, lots of dog walkers out today

Lovely surprise as GD2 is here spending the day with us and staying over tonight.
We too are doing some easter craftwork…..stealing ginny’s fabric covered eggs idea and working on GD’s latest ‘thing’, wreath making to mark special occasions. Hasn’t looked at her iPad once! 😂

Commiserations Foxygloves. Happens to the best of us but the hassle and inconvenience is a pain in the derrière. 😥

rosemarigold Tue 04-Apr-23 13:38:01

Ginny - those Easter items look terrific, especially the colourful crafted eggs!

We are at the static and doing gardening/washing down the van and cleaning all of the windows.
It`s lovely sunny day and we can hear people laughing.
Oh the joys of sunshine.

It was a perfect Autumn day here, lovely sunshine. I met with some Probus friends and had a good chat over coffees, caught up with a few I hadn’t seen in a while which was lovely. This evening a group of 6 of us had our regular Tuesday night Zoom session Bible study and it is so good to be able to catch up with the help of technology (some are hundreds of kms away) .

Oh it's lovely - definitely try it. You can make it yourself (recipe below - scroll right down past all the ads) but the bought stuff is just as good. It is often on sale at National Trust shops, and the brand they sell is very nice.

Sang a duet in the garden on a beautiful day at a woman's social/art/craft group I attend every week here in Australia.
The song is called 🎵"Love is all around"🎶....it felt so lovely to sing it.

Love that Maggieajane1
It's so amusing what the little ones say.
I picked my 6 year old grandson up from school last week and it started raining heavily. "Quick Nannie" - put your Underbrella up! smile

Jay21 Tue 04-Apr-23 13:47:57

Brilliant! Thanks for the recipe and info.

It's a beautiful day here in this bit of Birmingham. I went for a walk via the canal bridge so that I could spot any wildlife. I then took an Easter egg next door for their little girl. I was unsure as they are Muslim but her mother said 'Yes she can have it. It's very sweet of you'. smile 🐰🐣

Katyj

Hi two things today firstly we’ve been looking after our grandchildren today and they’ve been a joy today, out in the garden all afternoon happy as Larry.
Secondly I gave my notice in at work today, I’m nearly 66 and I won’t have to go back as I’m using my holiday as notice. Don’t think it’s sunk in yet but I do feel ready.

Congratulations on your retirement, I think that we do all know when we're ready to go!

I'd love to be able to dry my sheeets outside, I only have a balcony and drying washing is verboten....
