Good morning from Durham. A beautiful morning after a dreadful night of rain and gales.
DD1 is on her way here to collect an assortment of garden tools - I gather SinL is going to tackle the front garden - about time too!
I’m going into Newcastle for a bit of a wander, onto babysitting DGS2, so his parents can view a new house (in an odd location) then I’ll bring her little dog here for a couple of days.
A sad day Grandmabatty but your reading will be perfect and much appreciated.
Packers are the way to go gM what a stroke of luck to find your ring.
Safe journey to all our travellers today.
Best wishes to all. X

Oops it went too soon. Hope your plans go smoothly today Grandmabatty. It’s good you see your DH a day earlier Ashcombe
I am hoping to get to Knaresborough market today and the weather will remain dry for the trip! Yesterday I got my sheets dried outside before the rain came.
Have the best day possible folks
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's not raining here but for how long.
I have a df funeral today. A chance to celebrate her wonderful life.
gMattie what luck to find the missing ring. I did the same and found my lost wedding ring when clearing the house to move here. It was our wedding anniversary so 12th April.
Very best wishes for the move.
At last I have finished the cardigan so will begin a new project at yarn group.
Have a nice stay in St Andrews Marydoll
Your painting holiday sounds fun Blue
Safe journeys for olddudders and any others on the roads today
Wishing everyone a great day.
Good morning from a sunny NE after a night of torrential rain and gale force winds.
Meeting with financial advisor was successful and informative.
I did my grocery shopping at Morrisons which is just down the road from me, we usually go to Sainsbury's but the entire road was closed for resurfacing and would have entailed a multimile detour.
DD was not well, she returned from her scan with pelvic pain so SIL and I cooked dinner and told her to rest.
Today is a quiet day so I will file the papers from the advisor and sort other papers.
I am so pleased you found your ring grandMattie, I hate it when I mislay things.
Have a good day.
Good morning all and it’s a beautiful sunny start to the day.
What a stormy evening and night we had!
Yesterday was lovely all day and we had a walk over Dunwich Heath and then went on to the beach but didn’t partake in the delicious fish and chips as we’d had a late breakfast. Had a coffee and came back after ordering a new battery for the situpon mower.
Dh will pick it up today and hopefully mow the lawn if it’s not too wet.
Our lovely DIY man is popping in so that we can pay him for the jobs he’s done while we aren’t here. Don’t know what we’d do without him.
DIL has just messaged , about a car load of men in a black Audi out and about in Essex (Basildon, Grays etc) trying to abduct children . It’s all over social media . Billy Murray (actor) on tik tok. Just to make anyone aware GG and others. Horrid people!
Wishing you all a ‘good’ day 🌷
Good morning all from Glasgow. 4deg.cloudy and windy. Not a pleasant day.
I am out with DD1 today. An invitation to go along with her to look at the final plans for a new kitchen. Having done this a few times myself over the years, a suggestion I made was to have pot/crockery drawers rather than cupboards. It will be a big project, knocking two rooms into one. No doubt they will be joining us for a few meals during the upheaval.
Wishing you strength to get through a difficult day Grandmabatty. I’m sure you will do your friend proud.
How nice to see you on here this morning Topsy. Sorry to have missed you at the last meet up.
Enjoy your trip to one of my favourite places Marydoll. Don’t spend too much in Pretty Little Things. 😄
Good luck with your move GM.
Have a good day all.
Good Morning from a S Yorks.
At last the day has come, my gardener at 9.30. Been concerned for days about the weather but currently its sunny, however rain promised at 11 (she comes for 3 hours). Main thing, can the lawns be mowed? There's a lot of clearing and prep for bedding plants but the lawns need their first cut. she'll work in light rain but...
So tired, as yesterday had unexpected problems: today fortunately the Gardener is the only must do.
Thoughts to you today Grandmabatty and Grammaretto.
Great re the ring GMattie and hope you get that date.
What a superb postbox top, baubles.
Bests for poorlies and may outings and family be enjoyed.
Good morning all. You'll need your big coat on the east coast Marydoll - winter seems to be making an unwelcome return. Have fun with Dolly!
A sad day for you Grandmabatty but your happy memories will be a comfort.
Fancy finding that ring grandmattie! A good omen I'm sure.
Nothing to report from here - just a day of much-needed housework planned. Tomorrow after tai chi the other instructors are coming here for a bowl of soup while we plan for an up-coming in-house Workshop in two weeks' time. I shall offer to do the morning slot in case my energy runs out by afternoon!
Have the best day you can everyone, and I hope the sun shines where you are x
Good morning from Essex by the sea. It's windy and cloudy at the moment.
I was due to have my hair cut this morning but have just cancelled as I'm not feeling too good again. Hopefully I can rearrange for next week.
How lovely that you found your ring GM, a good omen.
Thinking of you today Grandmabatty.
Have a lovely day everyone xx
Good morning all from a sunny Black country how long for we shall see.
Good news you found your ring Mattie.
Safe travels for your DH Ash.
Enjoy your trip Marydoll
Thinking of you today Grandmabatty 💐.
DH has managed to get a drs appointment face to face for tomorrow, he did have a better nights sleep but the swelling in feet and legs is no better.
Not much planned for today shall get acquainted with the duster.
Enjoy your Wednesday everyone and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s a sunny start but more rain is forecast.
I drove home across the glorious Woodhead Pass yesterday. The traffic was fine and the scenery stunning. The weekend with the DDs was lovely. We very much enjoyed the Bodyguard in Manchester. No mini riots at our performance thank goodness.
Shopping and a walk today.
I’m pleased you found your ring gM. Hope the packing goes well.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning Mick and everyone from showery and intermittently sunny Carlisle. I don't think a good day's weather is ahead. Within an hour of getting to sleep last night, I was rudely awoken by a squall shrieking around outside and got up to investigate the strange rattly noises I could hear. Nothing but torrential rain to be seen and I was relieved to see my satellite dish still in situ.
Today, definitely no gardening! I will scour the bathrooms, sort admin and then hope to finish my book. I'm getting cabin fever though...
I hope you all have a good day.
Also thinking of you today grammaretto 💐
Good morning everybody from the NE of Scotland where it is grey, damp and windy. Good luck with the packing gM, lovely about your lost ring. Coffee with a friend this morning and, if DH feels better, visit from DGD this afternoon. Good wishes to all who are struggling in any way.
grammaretto
Grammaretto all my sympathy for you. Thank you all for your kind words. They all help.
Glorious sunshine outside here again this morning but it blew a bit of a hooley in the night.
Looking forward to seeing D1 and eldest GS and GD around lunchtime on their way home from Somerset. GD is staying for a couple of days and I am hoping she will enjoy it, but I usually have one or both of her brothers as well. True, there should be no fighting (!) but non stop one to one conversations can be tiring!
First I need to get to grips with the Audi A3 I have had delivered as my courtesy car. (Too wet and stormy to do anything with it yesterday) It seems a bit high tech and slightly bigger than mine, I would have preferred something smaller and simpler!
What good luck your ring turned up GM. Forty plus years ago my MIL lost her wedding ring while she was staying with us (I think I was having one of the girls) and we searched everywhere without success.
Fast forward three years and shortly before we left London, my cleaner spotted something glinting between two floorboards in a bedroom - we had stripped pine floors - and sure enough, it was MIL’s wedding ring. Thanks were duly offered up to St Anthony!
Kind thoughts to all in pain or distress, and wishing you all a pleasant day.
Good morning everyone from a blustery Northampton. Rain forecast this afternoon. Luckily I got all my washing dried before lunchtime yesterday and then the heavens opened in the afternoon. We managed our health walk before that happened though, and then a kind couple offered me a lift home after coffee.
Annoyingly we had a power cut yesterday evening, just as I was about to cook my dinner. Nothing else to do but put the fairy lights on, light some candles and sit it out. Lasted about an hour and a hslf, and received a text to say the engineers were working on it.
Sainsbury's delivery this morning, then lunch, and may go to the well-being cafe this afternoon depending on the weather. Bins to go out when I get back. Bolognese defrosting for dinner tonight.
Whatever your plans, may the day go well for all.
Good morning from a sunny W Kent where I shall be packing, collecting prescriptions and generally tidying up.
Love the postbox topping baubles
So pleased your ring turned up gM such a lovely feeling.
Enjoy your overnighter Marydoll
Thoughts with those attending funerals.
Best wishes to all.
Good morning from a lovely bright Co Armagh, mind you yesterday started off like that too , rapidly downhill in the afternoon ,
I’ve a solar fountain in an old pig feed boiler , it’s burbling away , it keeps the water oxygenated, the aquatic plants haven’t peeped up yet
Loved that you found your precious ring grandMattie
Good morning, soggy here in s somerset and my bin is tucked inside my garage, we are expecting strong winds later
I did not enjoy yesterday, too quiet a day, I ended up talking to myself so thank goodness for complicated knitting and playing yarn chicken, which distracted me. Other widows/singles will know, sometimes the silence is very heavy as is knowing that there is no going back. Fortunately I have hopped out of that mood
GM we are with you every step of the way and what a good decision, to have packing done by your removers
Every empathy goes to anyone having a sad day, especially those saying goodbye at a funeral
Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Started off sunny, but that’s gone now. Wish it would warm up, it’s a cold wind out there. No grey hairs now after hairdresser yesterday and off to city soon for lunch with old friend and maybe museum visit.
Nice to recover your ring GM and hope the funeral goes as well as it can Grandmabatty
Thoughts to all with worries.
Have been having unexplained difficulties with accessing Gnet, don’t know why it wouldn’t let me in yesterday but suddenly it has relented. Everyone sounds busy and mostly positive, which is good. We had a lovely Easter with DD, DSiL and DGD1 here. Amongst other things we had a blitz on the garden, with DGD cleaning the table and chairs and DSiL and me emptying and cleaning lots of pots ready for filling in a week or two. It all looks much better now. DD appointed herself chief cook and it was such a treat not to do it all. I will find various things over the next few days, I hope - like the potato peeler and my favourite knife.
After they had set off yesterday I asked my lovely neighbours in for a cup of tea while I still had cake to offer, and we had a very happy couple of hours. Am now about to take washing load four out of the machine. Very windy but ominous clouds suggest I won’t get it dried outside. Bother!
Good morning from windy West Sussex.
I managed to almost clear the piles of unsorted ‘stuff’ in the spare bedroom yesterday. I think I need a ‘buddy’ to help me be more decisive about what to get rid of. Also a buddy to get me going on the scrapbooks I want to make from our two campervan trips to Europe a few years ago. I have severe procrastination disorder!
DH is out so I might do a bit of ‘tidying’ in his study. He is even worse than I am for hanging on to stuff - pre-decimal coins, stamps, postcards. He has been making an effort with books and papers recently.
Thoughts with Grandmabatty and Grammaretto. I hope the funerals are the celebration of the lives of your friends that you, and they, hoped for. An extra poignant day for you Grammaretto - but a lovely story of finding your ring to match Grandmattie’s freezer find.
Grandmattie, I hope the packing up goes well - lovely that your ring turned up - and the final stages of your move are free of hitches.
Thinking of all waiting for medical appointments or test results, for yourselves or family.
Off to forage upstairs and see what I can find 🙂
