Good morning all from a dull Black country more rain overnight.
DH has been given antibiotics and a months supply of water tablets I need to pick prescription up this morning, he had another restless night.
Think DS and the boys will pop round sometime today we were going out but weather and DH problems looks like it will be inside day.
Glad all went well with your move GM
Ash safe travels and enjoy your break.
Have a good day everyone and may you all find some ☀️.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. We now have a few days without visitors. My sister and niece set off to stay with friends yesterday and my brother and his partner aren’t arriving until next Thursday. I booked a flight to Sydney for August to attend the wedding of another niece. I had hoped to go Premium Economy but the prices have rocketed. We can’t make plans for the wedding of the niece who has been staying here until she confirms the date. Her wedding will be in a small village near Toulouse in September. I have a whole pile of things to do today including making a special chocolate cake, WI admin, sorting out elder son’s partner’s birthday present and a giant pile of laundry. Meanwhile OH is not that well. It’s not covid - he took a test. Congratulations again to Marydoll and to MD 🌹🌹🌹 I hope you move in soon!

Good morning from a soggy North Leicestershire. We had a fabulous sunrise but we now have drizzle.

Today, we are taking Persie shopping to spend her birthday money from us - we always seem to go over budget!! Then she gets to choose where we go for lunch. Chances are it will be pizza.

My friend and I found a new place for tea and cake yesterday which has an attached gift and jewellery shop. It was lovely.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning, Michael, and all GNs. The sun is out in South Yorkshire, but there’s frost on the conservatory roof and the garden table. I didn’t post yesterday - too sad a day to say anything about, but managed to get through it with the help of DD and my lovely GS. Today will be a get on with it day of paperwork, tidying, and putting labels on the plants I don’t want the gardener to dig out tomorrow.
Marydoll. Many congratulations on your new grandchild. New life in the family is a blessing.
A belated Happy Birthday to LLFL - hope you had a good day.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and the sun is shining. A bit breezy by the looks of it. Mick the blood transfusion will make a big difference to you. Ash have a lovely time in your wee hideaway. Grandmattie I'm glad to hear all went well. BlueBalou that's disappointing that the course didn't live up to expectations. I don't do water colours as it doesn't suit my style. Cornergran I'm glad the birthday celebrations went well and it sounds like you have organised a nice break too. Brook have fun with your dgc.
Yesterday I intended to be very lazy but ended up cleaning windows and floors and doing washings. I did doze quite a bit during the day which isn't like me but obviously I needed the rest.
Today is another day with few plans. A food shop is required and I'll iron. I expect dd might call in with the boys at some point. Although it's the last day of Easter break so she maybe has something planned. Whatever you are doing, I hope it brings you joy.

Good morning all from a sunny Suffolk coast. At last the wind has dropped - for how long though!

This is our last full day here and it’s been relaxing, after all the appointments, child care, to-ing and fro-ing and of course constant worry with DD. (that sounds so selfish) but I think you’ll know how I feel. My permanent state of mind is ‘high alert’.

Dh got his new mower battery and had a jolly time riding around the large lawn.
Today we must buy paint, stain, brushes, cement and fence posts. Our two sons are coming for a work-weekend in a couple of weeks and I have a list for them. Bless their lovely hearts.❤️❤️.

GM I’m so glad all went well with your move. Enjoy your time staying with the family. It will fly by I’m sure.

Ashhave a relaxing time at your holiday home with DH.

Multi have a happy time with your family. Don’t be too hard on your cleaner. I’m sure she’ll try her best.😉.

Marydoll how were your cuddles 👶🏼.

Bluebalou how disappointing that your course was less than expected. Perhaps try a different course next time 🧑‍🎨.

I hope everyone has a ‘good’ day. 🌷

Good morning Mick and all who follow.

I hope GM has arrived safely in Bristol.

Thank you all for all the many good wishes for my new granddaughter. There was talk yesterday of Babydoll, being transferred to the children's hospital in Glasgow, so DD couldn't go home, an anxious time. DIL had kept quiet, to prevent us worrying.
There was a big improvement last night, so we are praying hard, all will be well. We received an urgent request from DS on our way back from St Andrews to buy more nappies. Her stomach problems meant that she was going through nappies at some rate. My task today, is to buy some bigger outfits.
Although, they had plenty of first size outfits and she is tiny, she has very long legs, which are too long for the baby grows.
There is nothing like holding a baby in your arms despite her having a healthy set of lungs,
I burst into tears, when I found out that one of her names was in memory of my mother. DS2 had a very special relationship with my mum, who helped nurse him through his many illness.

Yesterday was very full on, we had promised that we would look after Dollie for a couple of hours, to give DS and DIL a break. DS has been bombarded with emails regarding work and I could see how stressed he was.
We had a walk to the harbour and castle, but it was rather bracing to say the least. Dollie and I were struggling and out of breath. Papa was oblivious to our plight, until Dollie asked him if we were going for coffee. Of course he can never refuse her. 😉

Then the rain came on, it was torrential. I had hoped for a quick browse in the shops, but was also desperate to get home to see Babydoll. I did manage to pop into a gallery to buy a photo frame, to match a special one I have for Dollie. We have a few pieces by this designer, who only sells to this gallery.
Nothing is too good for Babydoll's photo.
All being well, we are back for our usual annual stay in three weeks, so I can browse to my heart's content.

On arrival home, I noticed what looked like a hospital letter. It turned out to be the report from my gastroscopy nine months ago, saying after reviewing my results, I did not need intervention. It looked liked my biologics were the reason for my problems.
The only reason, I had the report so speedily, was that my orthopaedic consultant, unknown to me, had chased it up. What a kind man, despite appearing very brusque and abrupt.

DH is golfing, but no empty for me. I need to do a food shop and return an item. I really want to stay in bed!!

I wish you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.
Best wishes for all, who have worries or illness.

Good to hear from you grandmattie. That all sounds as good as it can be for now. Hope the management company get on with it! We also stayed with one of ours in between homes and also kept out of the way as much as possible. It was a happy time though, hope the same for you. There will be new roots soon. flowers.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Apr-23 07:12:22

Good morning from a damp South Downs.

Rain forecast all day, which is frustrating as the plants I ordered have arrived and need planting out. I shall content myself with sowing night scented stock - wouldn’t be summer without it - in the greenhouse. That will be this afternoon as hair appointment this morning.

I am also toying with the idea of employing a cleaner as I’m not getting any younger - 77- and do feel somewhat tired at times. I always had one when I worked, but stopped at retirement as I thought the activity would be good for me, which has been fine but now I don’t seem to have the energy I had a couple of years ago, and at this stage if life would rather use it enjoying myself then house working. I shall give it some thought.

Well, anyway, gm glad the move went smoothly - give the West Country my love from a Cornish maid. ashcombe enjoy the moors and everyone else have a splendid day.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and bright but feels cold
So pleased all went well for you yesterday gMattie you’ve accomplished such a lot in a short time and I wish you all the very best as you start this new chapter of your life
The weather was rainy yesterday so we took the DGC swimming instead of going to Brodie Castle, hopefully we’ll get over there with them today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

cornergran Fri 14-Apr-23 07:09:37

Morning Mick, morning All from a very soggy corner of Somerset. Pouring out there - again.

The 90th birthday party went very well, lots of chatting and laughter. Managed to navigate far too many hurdles to use a voucher and booked a short stay in what looks a very comfortable hotel. If all the staff are as patient and kind as the receptionist who helped it will be a good choice. Hoping for sunshine by then.

Coffee morning today, flying visit from a very cross (not with us) son this afternoon. In between it’s back to the voucher frustration, a balance to use. They were for Mr C’s 80th birthday, such generosity and kindness should not cause this much stress!

Been thinking about grandmattie;p and hoping she’s not too drained. Enjoy your time away ash. Your appointments sound very positive steps mick.

Take care everyone. Hope Friday is kind to us all.

BlueBalou Fri 14-Apr-23 06:59:23

Good morning from a hill in damp Wiltshire.
The journey home yesterday was good despite lots of heavy lorries and an onerous redirection for roadworks in a nearby town 🙄
Back home after the watercolour painting course I have decided that I need to find someone to teach me the basics; it’s so frustrating not knowing why my efforts go wrong and clearly it won’t get any better until I sort out the groundwork 🙄 I was slightly disappointed that this last course didn’t deliver what it said it would (I wasn’t the only one to feel this way so not just me), although it was a lovely group to work with.
Onwards and upwards!
I hope your move goes well grandMattie, good luck with your new home 💐

grandMattie Fri 14-Apr-23 06:58:49

Good morning! First one in the West Country, for the rest of my life.
Yesterday went well; the packers were all very pleasant young men, 2, then 3 then another 4 on Wednesday, making 7. They finished the dozens of chocolate biscuits and cherry cake, to get her with gallons of tea/coffee, astonished that I should look after them…
Only 3 yesterday. They were finished by 1130. Meanwhile, DD and I went to the solicitor to sign paperwork and ask a few questions. She isn’t hopeful for a date until the management has answered a couple of question…. She can’t deal with then directly, only via the vendor’s solicitor!
I left without a second look; it would have been too painful. Only 10 years in Sandwich and I was well and truly rooted there.
We had a good journey back here, welcomed by the girls. SiL had made dinner, bless him, and we ate before unpacking the car, rescuing my myriad pot plants - I’m going to get rid of half, I think.
Today, party for DGD’s 13th birthday tomorrow.
Need to settle in a bit, but try to keep out of the way, if I can so as not to change the household routine too much.
Delighted for you, Ash and thrilled about babydoll’s safe arrival.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️

Good morning from a cold and dull east coast of Fife. I’ve a discussion to have with my cleaning lady this morning she left the wooden floors sticky last time, I’ve got the most wonderful scented wooden floor cleaner in my cupboard which she needs to know about. Someone else apart from me gave instruction at the beginning of her start with me ,
Now I’m up and about after my stroke I’ll need to have this chat. I’m out with my carer today I’m going to the shops grin
I’m so looking forward to tomorrow when my daughter and my 2 little gs arrive

Itl be loads of hugs and laughter. I’m happy for the first time in ages. I’m so blessed with my family. grin
Have a good day everyone

Good morning all from bright South Lanarkshire.

You will be a new man Mick!

I hope Mattie’s move went smoothly.

You must be pleased that the play is going well Ash, I must look it up.

Working again today, this week hasn’t been as arduous as I’d feared, the pain in my back has eased greatly and the painkillers are doing their job so I’m managing. I’ll still be glad to get back to my two days though.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ashcombe Fri 14-Apr-23 06:44:04

Good morning from a damp Torbay.

Last night, I sat through another performance of Death's Desire at our theatre as DH wanted to watch it and was impressed, along with a nearly full house. I think the word is going round that it's not one to miss.

Thank you for all the comments yesterday, welcoming DH here; yes, Taichinan, we do find our reunions special each time.

With another infusion, it sounds like you’ll be as healthy as possible by the time you have your surgery, Mick.

What happy news from Marydoll about the newly arrived DGD! Congratulations to all the family. 💐🥂👶🏻🍾🎀

Later today, we’re heading for Whiddon Down for a couple of nights at my holiday home. Newly installed Wi-Fi should mean I can keep in touch.

Happy weekend to you all! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
