Posters give far more info away when they mention it is DD’s 40th birthday today for example. There you have the day, month and year, far more information than what age your parents were when they died!
Pictures of children and grandchildren are far more identifiable as are the photos posted from posters windows.

I don't think it's being suggested that Fleurpepper is up to no good with her questions but that we need to be mindful of what information we put out on social media. There are people out there who will collate our information and use it fraudulently.

I would not provide ANY personal info on line about my family, either living or deceased. What possible interest could anyone have in my parents age at death? Strange, and just a wee bit questionable, despite the so-called nod to sensitivity.

Both my parents have passed away. Dad was 82 when he died and Mum was 92. There was an age gap of 22 years when they married . Mum was 18 and Dad was 40. I was the youngest of 9.

My mother was 61 and my father was 71,and just to add,my sister was 57 and my brother was 55.my grandma was 60 and grandad was 70.
There`s not much hope for me is there lol.

This information will be of no use to scammers unless they can tie in my ip address with my maiden name and any other relevant information which will help them. Yes I have also been able to track people down with only a couple of bits of information about them but this wasn’t it.

I didn’t see it as scam material.

I've just been reflecting on how much younger my parents were when they died compared to my grandparents. I put it down to the fact my parents smoked cigarettes from their teens until the end.
It would be interesting to know how many smoke tobacco nowadays and how it's reflected in the age at death figures.

I suppose someone with a very twisted mind could look at the year born thread, and then match to answers here. That of course never crossed my mind as it is so so unlikely. But yes, with hindsight, it is a possibility.

An aggressive and unkind pile-on is much more likely though. So deleted soon.

I don't for one minute think that you asked the question for anything other than innocent reasons. Unfortunately, having written articles where I had to interview internet safety and security experts, I'm only too aware of how seemingly innocent bits and pieces of information can be put together to pose a security risk. You genuinely can't be too careful. It's frighteningly easy to track someone down from just a few pieces of info they've posted on the internet. I've done it.
