My mother was 85, my father 92. As he was the younger of the two, he outlived her by 10 years and until his last short illness was living independently, cutting the grass, and still on the committees of several village organisations.
My father's family, a large one (11) are long lived and most have lived healthily to at least their late 80s and 4 of them into their 90s.
At 80 this year, I still have an aunt, 95 this year, living independently at home, although in the last few months she has had a couple of falls and now has a walker, and while she doesn't have dementia, her mind is also slowing down.
