It’s a yes from me, I love to send and receive voice notes especially from friends I don’t see very often, I will say though none of my four AC send them, and my husband refuses to use it, but he does like to hear them just won’t use them himself! We very rarely make phone calls unless to hospital etc.

What do you mean voice notes?
I get WhatsApp vids from my grandchildren sometimes .

HeavenLeigh Sat 22-Apr-23 15:40:32

Voice notes you use on WhatsApp press the record and speak instead of texting

Oh good I didn't know what they are but I'm going to try them now thank you.

First time I've heard of them, but I've never used WhatsApp or even Twitter, so perhaps not surprising.

BigBertha1 I find it’s much quicker than texting and obviously quicker than calling! You will have to let me know what you think🤣

My 2 youngest grandchildren like to send one to me if they get a hold of their parent’s phone on a long car journey. I love to hear them as it usually involves giggling and singing. They expect me to send one back and of course I always do. But I cringe when I hear my own voice .

I love to receive them from the grandchildren too Grannynanny

Friend’s GC send them to us to say thank you for gifts. It’s lovely to receive them. I reply to them but never initiate any myself which on reflection is silly of me as it takes me so long to type out texts!

I like to receive them but I have a bit of a thing about hearing my own voice recorded so I dont really like sending them.

Yes I love the voice messages on WhatsApp and use them a lot.

I knew it was a feature, but I've never used it. I haven't used the video call function either. We usually message each other or send photos.

My extended family uses WhatsApp a lot, but the only person I’ve ever had voice notes from, is dd1. And then only once or twice.
I will admit to preferring the written (typed) word.,

I hate the sound of my voice (I sound like a man), so don't use voice notes. I also don't use video messaging because I hate to see myself on screen. I am not vain, I assure you! grin

I don't use voice notes but do dictate texts if they are long ones.

I have used them a few times and received them from DDs.

One if my children does this all the time. Means you can walk and talk. Saves time typing. I respond back the same quite often. Some forum sites are promoting this too. How about Gransnet!

It’s a great way of avoiding repetitive strain on fingers and a lovely way of hearing the voices of my nieces and friends who live a long way away. You get nuances, a few mms, it’s a great invention. I recommend it

Quite honestly, voice notes annoy the hell out of me. If you have too much to say to text, why not just make a phone call instead of all this to-ing and fro-ing. My youngest sister does it all the time even about the most important things.

New to me - will give it a go.
My DD leaves a message on my landline - "just called to say hi .."
Its lovely to hear her voice.

Yes I have done so, when I have been in a rush , tired, unwell or too lazy to type out the message. Not many people I know use them. Although my friend does sometimes it’s quite personal and interactive I think, especially if you have a heart to heart.
My kids don’t like them but, I do still use them from time to time in a rush and I have noticed my older daughter does sometimes too. I always use them when I am sending messages to younger grandkids.

I cuddle up in bed with DGS when he's staying overnight and we say good night to his Mummy on Signal voice message. She usually manages to reply before he falls asleep, (she is usually putting his little brother to bed at the same time) also by voice note. he can read and write now, but I think the tradition will continue - until he's too old for the cuddles! And the sleepovers!
