It’s a yes from me, I love to send and receive voice notes especially from friends I don’t see very often, I will say though none of my four AC send them, and my husband refuses to use it, but he does like to hear them just won’t use them himself! We very rarely make phone calls unless to hospital etc.

I'd never heard of them. I should investigate!

Yes I do from time to time with Daughter but like GagaJo i like the written record as my memory seems to fail me lately over forgetting dates of plans etcgrin

GagaJo Wed 26-Apr-23 11:11:54

I do, but to be honest, I prefer a written message. A lot of my work instructions come by Whatsapp and I like having a written record, in case I need to check back (terrible memory!). One of my clients sends voice notes though. But I respond in writing.

My son uses this - I didn't know it was called voice notes. I find them annoying as often can't hear it properly. It's much easier to read a message.

I get them from one son sometimes, I didn't realise what they were at one time so didn't get the message he was sending g, now I'm familiar with them.

My sister and I use them all the time …. have done for couple of years. Some people don’t like them as they think they have to ‘practice’ what to say….like an answer phone message! But I just gab on like I would if we were on phone. Nobody else uses them in my family ….but so much easier than texting , and hearing a voice so much better.

I don’t like doing voice notes only one of my friends does them just for ease.

I cuddle up in bed with DGS when he's staying overnight and we say good night to his Mummy on Signal voice message. She usually manages to reply before he falls asleep, (she is usually putting his little brother to bed at the same time) also by voice note. he can read and write now, but I think the tradition will continue - until he's too old for the cuddles! And the sleepovers!

Yes I have done so, when I have been in a rush , tired, unwell or too lazy to type out the message. Not many people I know use them. Although my friend does sometimes it’s quite personal and interactive I think, especially if you have a heart to heart.
My kids don’t like them but, I do still use them from time to time in a rush and I have noticed my older daughter does sometimes too. I always use them when I am sending messages to younger grandkids.

New to me - will give it a go.
My DD leaves a message on my landline - "just called to say hi .."
Its lovely to hear her voice.

Quite honestly, voice notes annoy the hell out of me. If you have too much to say to text, why not just make a phone call instead of all this to-ing and fro-ing. My youngest sister does it all the time even about the most important things.

It’s a great way of avoiding repetitive strain on fingers and a lovely way of hearing the voices of my nieces and friends who live a long way away. You get nuances, a few mms, it’s a great invention. I recommend it

One if my children does this all the time. Means you can walk and talk. Saves time typing. I respond back the same quite often. Some forum sites are promoting this too. How about Gransnet!

I have used them a few times and received them from DDs.

I don't use voice notes but do dictate texts if they are long ones.

I hate the sound of my voice (I sound like a man), so don't use voice notes. I also don't use video messaging because I hate to see myself on screen. I am not vain, I assure you! grin

My extended family uses WhatsApp a lot, but the only person I’ve ever had voice notes from, is dd1. And then only once or twice.
I will admit to preferring the written (typed) word.,

MiniMoon Sat 22-Apr-23 21:07:08

I knew it was a feature, but I've never used it. I haven't used the video call function either. We usually message each other or send photos.

Yes I love the voice messages on WhatsApp and use them a lot.

sodapop Sat 22-Apr-23 20:57:28

Same here Galaxy lovely to hear my family but I feel really self conscious about it.

Galaxy Sat 22-Apr-23 16:37:43

I like to receive them but I have a bit of a thing about hearing my own voice recorded so I dont really like sending them.

nandad Sat 22-Apr-23 16:37:29

Friend’s GC send them to us to say thank you for gifts. It’s lovely to receive them. I reply to them but never initiate any myself which on reflection is silly of me as it takes me so long to type out texts!

HeavenLeigh Sat 22-Apr-23 16:32:53

I love to receive them from the grandchildren too Grannynanny
