Good morning from a bright Bristol.
Goodness, talk about quarts and pint pots! There is barely floor space in the flat. I’m glad I hadn’t planned to sleep there as I have no idea where my bedding is.
The truck didn’t arrive until mid afternoon, but, to their credit, the men emptied it of the five pallets before stopping, even if it meant working way after hours, so that I didn’t have to find a way of getting back for first thing today. In exchange, as they slept in the truck, outside my window, I gave them a key and told them to use the bathroom and anything else they needed.

It was a long afternoon, with DD and the girls unpacking, me bossing the men and helping unpacking. The men couldn’t believe how much carrying I helped them with! We unpacked all the hanging boxes and as many as we could while they were there, but, goodness, it feels like I’ll be unpacking until the end of the year.

One lady from opposite came and introduced herself, but misread the situation, trying to engage us in conversation while we were running back and forth. I’m afraid she may have found me rude, but at that particular time, my origins and so on are not what I needed. That and her apparent glee at the number of boxes and stuff going in, to be housed! Grrr…

The only thing I’m a little anxious about is the Wifi stuff and various cables for pc and tv. Of course, I haven’t a clue where they are. It’ll make for long evenings.

Phew!

May today ring the promised warmth and sunshine into your lives. Carpe diem. 🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩

grandMattie Wed 03-May-23 06:07:25

I forgot. The fridge freezer is being exchanged tomorrow, but they still won’t unpack to check if everything is ok this time. Not very clever.

Ashcombe Wed 03-May-23 06:13:50

Good morning from a dull and breezy Torbay.

I hope the move went as smoothly as possible for grandMattie and that Marydoll will feel better soon also any others who are suffering.

DH’s cold shows no sign of retreating so he’s not sleeping too well. I hope he picks up for the journey to Portsmouth tomorrow.

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from a bright but fresh South Downs.

Well the big day arrived gm and you are in. No doubt order will be achieved soon.

Last evening was so glorious that we decided to nip over to Knepp to hear the nightingales and what a lovely evening it was. Pure magic.

Nothing major planned today. Pot up some seedlings. Fiddle around in the greenhouse.

The dog has taken to waking too early for my liking - we are going to have to come to some sort of compromise.

Ricotta and spinach cannellini for tonight. Spinach in greenhouse needs using up to make room for cucumbers.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 03-May-23 06:16:53

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Glad you’re in GM!
Our cleaner is coming this morning and I’ll pop down to the WI Coffee morning. This is usually a hoot. It is an opportunity to chat to ladies I don’t really know. OH has a U3A Science group meeting after lunch. It is the WI Committed meeting early evening. I missed the last one as I was on the Danube! Finally, I will be listening to a talk on Zoom about London. I’ve received the formal invitation for number 3 niece’s wedding in Sydney in August. I’ve already told her I’m going!

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 03-May-23 06:17:18

Have a good day!

Ashcombe Wed 03-May-23 06:19:02

I’m glad to hear you are in your new abode (if not living there yet), grandMattie, and I’m sure it won’t seem as cramped once you start organising everything, Good luck and don’t overdo it! 🥰

NanaDana Wed 03-May-23 06:26:27

Good morning all, from a bright and dry but overcast Tyneside. Off to a local garden centre cafe later this morning, to meet a dear friend on one of her first trips out after major surgery for cancer. She has been so brave, and is now hopefully firmly on the road to making a full recovery. Hope your day goes well, wherever you are and whatever you're doing.

NannyJan53 Wed 03-May-23 06:33:41

Morning Mick, morning All. Cloudy out there.

We’re having a wander out to a National Trust property which just happens to be only 15 minutes from a decent shopping centre. The question of the day is which do we visit first?

You will soon be sorted and comfortable grandmattie. Please don’t rush and exhaust yourself.

Thinking all who are struggling just now. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

TopsyIrene06 Wed 03-May-23 07:06:53

In the absence of a "Welcome to Your New Home" card GM, I wish you a very happy future near to your family.

Pittcity Wed 03-May-23 07:09:40

Good morning from sunny Colchester. 12 degrees is the forecast high.
DH went fishing at stupid o'clock.
I have the usual Wednesday morning coffee meetup in the city centre followed by a bit of shopping.
I'm already exhausted just reading about Mattie's day yesterday.
Love to all 🦩 x

Grandmabatty Wed 03-May-23 07:10:20

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and cloudy. GrandMattie it won't be long until you are settled. NannyJan have a lovely time.
Yesterday was a good day. Dgs2 and I toddled round the street. He is fascinated by the stones in my front garden and loves to pick up some and present them to me. We had two further walks to the swings, one in the morning and one with dgs1 after nursery. We also walked to the nearby motorway bridge as dgs1 loves to watch the lorries. He gets very anxious when they peep at him though. He declared he is going to have a baby sister called Ursula, which came as a big surprise to his mum and dad 😂.
I ended up in bed early as I was tired.
Today will be pottering around the house and garden. I have admin to sort out and money to move as dd has booked a holiday for us in July. Have a good day all

kittylester Wed 03-May-23 07:12:22

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire.

Not a lot in the plans for today. Admin and a trip to the garden centre.

We are both very tired from our trip to York yesterday but it was good to see DH's brother. He was better than we had expected although still not good. We also saw his lovely wife for a short while.

We came home to a lovely clean house - which was a bonus.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Beechnut Wed 03-May-23 07:14:53

Good Morning everyone from a beautiful sunny Severnside.

You’ll soon have yourself sorted out Mattie, and as for your neighbour 🙄

I’ve washing in the machine and some garden work to do and will see how the day takes me. I mowed my terrible lawn yesterday. I keep threatening to get it in better condition…..one day!

Have a lovely holiday NannyJan and a good day for all 🦩🌞

brook2704 Wed 03-May-23 07:19:30

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve some light grey cloud but the sun is trying to break through. Yesterday afternoon we had lots of sunshine so I’m hoping for more of the same today
Hope all the unpacking goes well gMattie I’m sure you’ll eventually find a place for everything!
We’ve got DGD here, she’ll be up soon and asking for breakfast. We’ll drop her off at school and then I’m going to the gym, it’s the hardest day on Wednesday so I’ll need all my energy! Then across the car park to Costa and a catch with my pal - a busy day ahead but all good
I’d be waiting for an announcement form your DD grandmabatty ! 🤣
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Alygran Wed 03-May-23 07:24:30

Good morning from North Yorkshire. A bright day forecast.
I had a lovely walk yesterday with some friends. They were planning a walk for our village group and invited me along. Set to when I got home and cleaned the car and mowed the lawns.
Off to the charity meet up this morning then some shopping later.
Pleased you have been ‘delivered’ gM. Hope you find your cables.
Have a good day everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 03-May-23 07:30:25

Morning all

The sun had appeared here in S E Essex

The 8yr old stayed over last night, he is now tucking in to bacon, scrambled eggs and marmalade toast before his 8am school start. I am off to the gym then the ironing board is calling me.

karmalady Wed 03-May-23 07:31:21

Good morning from sunny s somerset

GM, so nice to know that you are in and the unpacking does not need to be rushed now. That neighbour does sound very intrusive, would have been nicer if she had appeared with a tray of tea and cake and then disappeared

Rose buds are appearing by the dozen, sedums have plumped up and are spreading and my small garden is looking like a fairytale glen. I am expecting a large parcel today, a big treat to myself after all that physical hard work of settling in and making a garden from builders rubble. This the first year when all I need do is please myself. It is a comfy soft and airy, top of the range, folding zero gravity recliner for outdoors. It has a side tray and will lock into any position, including sitting. It is ages since I spent so much on myself

A good day to everyone

Susan56 Wed 03-May-23 07:33:01

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Wishing you much happiness in your new home Mattie.

Have the best day possible everyone.

BlueSapphire Wed 03-May-23 07:43:13

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, not a cloud in the sky. Which is.good, as I am going to a.funeral this morning, and I always think that on a grey and wet day, a funeral makes you feel worse, whereas if the sun is shining, it does lift the spirits a little, however sad the occasion. That was a.bit muddled, but hope you get the gist!

The funeral is the husband of an elderly lady who attends our well-being cafe; he was well into his 90s, and she, not far behind in years, was his carer. She also has a son, (with some health problems), never married and still living with her,.who she also cares for. The service is in our ancient village church, followed by a local burial, and a wake afterwards at the church hall.

Not sure about the rest of the day, but if it stays dry I shall cut the back grass. I am still aching after my weeding excursions on Monday! I enjoyed our health walk yesterday afternoon; it was a chance to stretch those aching muscles.

Wishes to all for the best Wednesday possible.

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 03-May-23 07:48:16

Good morning all from bright Harrogate
Thank you for all your good wishes for my birthday yesterday! I had a great day. Sadly did not see my DGS who was with his dad.
You sound like you had a good team for your moving in day GrandMattie a pity your neighbour couldn’t offer to supply you with cuppas! Would have been more helpful!
Have had few replies to my coronation party. Nevertheless will have to get cracking with baking. At the moment I’ve 4 people coming!
Have the best day possible folks
