Good Morning Everyone,
Its bright but dry here in brackley this morning ,and I noticed from the Town Hall weather vain a change in wind direction coming from WSW ,so might be a bit milder out today.
Usual routine small essential local shop , then bus to Bicester , return and do chips and scampi in air fryer before settling down for the afternoon.
Take Care,
Mick

grandMattie Fri 05-May-23 06:04:29

Good morning from Bristol. The weather is a bit changeable but milder today.
Yesterday was horrible. Firstly, I kept on being ambushed by sorrow for my Philip. It would have been his birthday.
Then, the freezer safely delivered, the couriers refused to take back the damaged one. I burst into tears, they scarpered. I called the courier company, in tears; they promised me the soonest collection on Friday next week!
I emailed the suppliers; a stiff, polite but fair letter. To their credit, they not only replied within the hour but arranged a collection on Saturday. Result.
The evening was spent with the family playing silly games.
Today? The usual; emptying boxes, trying to fit the proverbial quart into a pint pot, etc.
I hope you all (especially Marydoll et al) have a quiet day in anticipation of a historic weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️

Good morning from Shropshire. The weather forecast is for a dry day with rain later but who knows as it has been wrong so often lately.

What dreadful service you have had from the courier company grandMattie it’s no wonder you got upset.I hope today is a good day for you.

No childcare today as we swapped days this week so we can prepare for the family coming tomorrow.Lots of baking to be done.H made us laugh yesterday while doing craft projects with DH he said grandpa I think we need a grown up to help us!

We popped into Lidl yesterday for butter and bought a gazebo🤦🏼‍♀️

Thinking of all with illness, sadness and worries and thoughts with our absent goodmorningers.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Ashcombe Fri 05-May-23 06:20:18

Good morning all from a cloudy Portsmouth.

I’m sorry to hear of your freezer problems, grandMattie but glad you won through with the company. Well done!

A dreadful night here. Poor DH has hardly slept due to his fluey cold. He’s been coughing and snuffling all night but we have to be up and out for the ferry. His asthma isn’t responding to the usual inhalers either. Survival is likely!

Enjoy whatever the day brings. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Whitewavemark2 Fri 05-May-23 06:26:41

Good morning from a wet South Downs.

Had the covid jab yesterday and as usual zero after effects. Which I find impressive.

Then went on to vote and back to pottering in the garden.

Making a quiche today🙂 but not the coronation quiche - I love broad beans but not in a quiche - I shall make a classic Lorraine. Had planned a creamy dessert, but decided DH border line diabetes was more important!

gm all the dramas over your removal will settle, nothing is for ever. Let’s hope today is more peaceful. The most important thing is that you are happy with your new abode and your family is able to support you.

Must go blimmin’ dog

Fish pie for supper

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning from down South. It is overcast.
Not done much general housework in the last few days. Overdo for a catchup.

Bigred18 Fri 05-May-23 06:32:22

Fanny, I live in Sydney but was last week visiting my daughter 290kms away. Overnight it was zero, woke up to 1 degree! In Sydney it has been as low as 6 degrees, so cold!

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 05-May-23 06:34:29

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. GM, I do hope you have a better day! I will finish off the WI admin I began yesterday. At some point Autoglass are coming to fix the large chip in my car’s windscreen. It happened on Sunday when I was driving back from church and a large stone hit it. I have a window of four hours (!) so can’t go anywhere until Autoglass have been. Have a good day.

karmalady Fri 05-May-23 06:37:09

Good morning, a fair day ahead, a few hours ago it was going to be thunderstorms, no doubt the forecast will change throughout the day

What nightmare GM, makes me very glad that I chose a family-run local company who unpacked and installed my freezer and my fridge, no tip required nor any additional cost and I did not have to ask them

I have been enjoying watching the GBnews interaction with those lovely people on the mall, what tales they have to tell. Most have travelled a long way

An experimental fruity spiced spelt loaf is on right now in my bm, will slice and freeze this evening. Today is local market day and naturally I will visit and enjoy the short walk there and back.

A good day to everyone

Good morning all from a wet North Leicestershire. The bin lorry has just gone noisily down the road.

I am helping at a dementia prediagnostic course thuis morning. I expect it too be quite emotional.

Have the best day possible everyone.

cornergran Fri 05-May-23 06:52:38

Morning Mick, morning All from a blustery corner of Somerset.

We enjoyed a full day pottering around yesterday returning home last night. Suits us better than the early start we would have needed today. Back to reality with a far more than is reasonable amounts of laundry and a fridge to stock. I’ll be cheered by hanging a watercolour we purchased yesterday. Thankfully a good decision (we deliberated for days) as it will fit perfectly and be a constant reminder of a very special week.

Hope today is less fraught grandmattie, the non collection sounds to have been last straw time in an already emotional day.

Hope your husband feels much better soon and can cope with travelling ash. Good luck!

That comment from H has made me laugh susan.

Best be off, laundry calling. Mr C is still sleeping so I’ll go quietly

Take care everyone. Hope Friday is kind to us all.

Abitbarmy Fri 05-May-23 06:53:32

Good morning everyone from a very wet North Yorkshire. Had a very worrying phone call yesterday from my endocrinologist following a bone scan, he frightened the life out of me after telling me I’ve got severe osteoporosis and all the things I shouldn’t do and the consequences of doing them, such as gardening which is my main hobby! Was very upset and confused so I’ve booked a telephone appointment with my lovely Gp to get a clearer picture. Worse things happen I know but really wasn’t expecting that news. Today I’ll move more stuff in preparation for the new flooring next week though apparently I shouldn’t lift anything weighing more than .5kg! That’s 1lb in old money! GM I think everything will start to improve now and yesterday was the peak of stress! Hope today is good for all.

Marydoll Fri 05-May-23 06:54:09

Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 7° C.

Oh GM, life isn't easy for you just now. Your late dear son's birthday must have brought back so many memories yesterday. 💐

Despite feeling rubbish yesterday, I managed to get a lot done. I had a backlog of Safeguarding and Parish admin, because I was unwell.
I spent a few hours working on the parish website, removing and updating out of date info.
A fair number of people named on it were deceased and you can imagine the upset that has caused.
The person who edits it has gone awol, taking the log in with him. At last, I have author rights,so intend to try and make it more appealing, it looks so old fashioned.
It took a few attempts, when suddenly old my old skills resurfaced! I am pretty chuffed with myself!
I also managed an hour in the garden, which I find very therapeutic.

My tablet has packed up, so I'm off to investigate. Typing on my phone is so difficult, with uncooperative fingers!

Hoping all the birthday celebrations went well yesterday. DH is golfing and DD is going to spend the day with me. She was working late yesterday, so she will get her gifts this morning. I asked what she wanted to do about lunch, she suggested Macdonalds! Easily pleased and cheap!

Have a good day, safe journey Ash and love to the poorlies.

Pittcity Fri 05-May-23 07:12:16

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. 18 degrees and thundery rain forecast. Our weekend plans are in limbo because of the uncertain weather.
I got to the bottom of the laundry basket yesterday as it was a dry, windy day so there is little to do today.
Love to all 🦩 x

Gingster Fri 05-May-23 07:20:07

Good morning all and it’s sunny at the moment.
Just to say Thankyou all so much for your pm’s and good wishes for my DD. ❤️.

Yesterday I had bowls club and then met my friend for a long chatty lunch.

Dd will come in for coffee today after school drop off and then little pooch is off to be pampered.

Really looking forward to the Coronation tomorrow and I hope to be left alone to enjoy it. 👑.

Ash I hope your Dd is ok for his travels. Dose him up!
Abitbarmy - hopefully your GP can allay your fears.
GM - you deserve a bit of luck. 🍀. Once you’re settled in you can enjoy your new life. 🏡💐.

Love to you all 🌷

Gala Fri 05-May-23 07:23:00

Good morning from a wet Sefton though it does seem to have stopped raining.
Made a quick trip into town yesterday on the train using our bus passes😀. Came back empty handed so will have to order on line.☹️ Lots of going's on with the Eurovision final, looks impressive & spotted the Queen Mary 2 docked for the day. Lots of tourists, hopefully spending lots of money, can only be good for the area.
Exercise masterclass on Zoom this morning, then a quick shop in Lidl. Plans for the rest of today will be weather dependant.
A trying day for you grandMattie. Hope today's a better day for you. Bon voyage to Ashcombe & her suffering DH.
Take care all.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 05-May-23 07:24:04

Morning all

We have blue sky with white fluffy clouds here.

Might be on Granny duty today, as well as picking up The Imp from pre-school at lunchtime.

Out to local Indian Restaurant for dinner this evening.

Have a great day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

GrannySomerset Fri 05-May-23 07:26:36

Coldish and greyish this morning with rain forecast later so reminiscent of 1953, something nobody wants, but we will have to make the best of it whatever happens. Village market and old folks coffee morning so plenty of opportunities to chat.

Thoughts still with gMattie - surely the worst is now over? - and the redoubtable Marydoll, and hope Ashcombe makes it safely to France.

Marydoll Fri 05-May-23 07:26:50

Abitbarmy, I'm sure that was a bit of a shock to you, but treatments have changed since I was diagnosed with the hip of an eighty year old woman in my early thirties. It was caused by family genetics and long term steroid use.

I have had multiple stress fractures and two serious spinal ones, when I fell down a flight of stairs, but am still here and leading a reasonably normal life including gardening .

Just before lockdown, after my annual review, my endocrinologist refered me to a specialisied bone unit, recently set up in Glasgow..
No longer able to tolerate the osteoporosis medication, I have an annual Dexa scan, a review and infusion
This year I am having a "holiday", because my bone density has increased, due to the medication, which I have been taking on and off for thirty five years.
Please take heart, there are treatments to help. Diet and exercise are also important. 💐

monk08 Fri 05-May-23 07:38:23

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
DS calling round with the little one today and I need to pick up DH prescription.
Over to our friends in Redditch this evening we have booked a meal an early birthday treat for DH.
Take care all and enjoy your Friday may you all find some ☀️.

Jaxjacky Fri 05-May-23 07:38:25

Morning from a damp Hampshire, it rained heavily earlier. Safe journey Ash, crossing should be calm.
Frustrating gMattie hopefully a better day today.
House blitzed yesterday and shopping delivered, today will be quiet.
Enjoy yours 🦩🦩

Marydoll Fri 05-May-23 07:40:56

I also forgot to say, you must keep your Vitamin D levels up. Mine rarely register in blood tests, so I need high dose prescription medication.
My consultant told me that if I lay naked (not a pretty sight) for a year in the Dubai, I still wouldn't absorb enough vitamin D. I swear I blushed!

Abitbarmy Fri 05-May-23 07:42:58

Thank you Marydoll for your kind words of encouragement. I’ve always been a lover of all things dairy and been taking prescribed calcium/Vit D for years as well as always being on the go but it is mainly the familial link that has caused this as my mum and sisters were also diagnosed but not so severely. I’d hoped to prevent it! I’m to go on an infusion also apparently. Apart from ribs, touch wood I’ve never broken anything so hoping that continues. I’ll take heart from your words and I hope you feel much improved today.

baubles Fri 05-May-23 07:44:50

Good morning all from cool and cloudy South Lanarkshire.

This too shall pass gMattie. flowers

Abitbarmy, I’m sorry you’ve had such a shock, hopefully once you’ve spoken to your GP you will feel a little better.

Hope the journey isn’t too uncomfortable for your DH Ash.

We made it to Edinburgh yesterday although DH wasn’t up to walking so he stayed in DS’s house while DS and I collected the middle child from nursery. DS goes back to work next week after his shared parental leave ends so it was good to spend a little time with him. We went to our usual haunt, the cafe at the Palace of Holyrood House where the signage on the doors was being updated. The other photo is a not very good shot of the heron on the swan pond.

Today I have to get organised for my weekend in Dublin, DD and I are off early tomorrow.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Marydoll Fri 05-May-23 07:45:38

Abitbarmy, the infusion is a doddle, compared to starving all night, before taking the once weekly tablet and sitting upright for an hour afterwards! Thank goodness, treatment has moved on.
I wish you all the best.
