Good Morning Everyone,
Its bright but dry here in brackley this morning ,and I noticed from the Town Hall weather vain a change in wind direction coming from WSW ,so might be a bit milder out today.
Usual routine small essential local shop , then bus to Bicester , return and do chips and scampi in air fryer before settling down for the afternoon.
Take Care,
Mick

Good afternoon all. We are at our East Lothian flat. I spent an hour on the phone to plusnet this morning - following instructions on my iPad but to no avail, it is a BT problem. They will fix it remotely, supposedly in two working days but it is the weekend and a bank holiday. So frustrating. Now at DD’s using their wifi.

I walked through the woods and by the river to get here. The sun is shining and it is warm. Loads of wildflowers, birds and butterflies.

Family going to the coast in their caravan for the weekend so we may go and visit tomorrow. We are planning a trip up the west coast next week so I have been making a list of all the must-see places and cafes where tea or coffee should be drunk and cakes sampled 😂

Must go and do some weeding in the garden as DD not able to do much physical work. I see she has several trays of small plants on the table outside. Apparently the path to the front door is going to bloom with alpines instead of dandelions (plenty of dandelions in the rest of the garden!).

Good afternoon- somehow I missed this.
Yesterday will have been hard, GrandMattie but I hope your family kept your pecker up. I suffer a similar dip every 6 October which was our little boy’s birthday. Now DH has gone, there is nobody to share those memories as our daughters were born after him. Similarly with DH’s birthday, our wedding anniversary, the anniversary of his death - these are days we just have to get through and hopefully the happy memories sort of compensate for the loss.
Not being on my own is helpful - moments for remembrance and reflection - but then get on with life.
My Hotel Chocolat trip was nice, I recommend it for presents etc, but they did not do lunches , just coffee, chocolate, cakes etc.
As D had chosen yesterday to give me a “pep talk” aka lecture on my health, activity levels and weight - I didn’t buy any chocolate! sad
She’s right of course, but when did our AC get to be so bossy?

BlueBalou Fri 05-May-23 11:28:38

Good morning from a breezy Wiltshire, the clouds are scudding across the sky.
All’s peaceful at the moment while DDog is out with the the dog walker.
Enjoying doing little today M

Good morning from sunny Lancashire. We had fierce storms yesterday evening and overnight, and the forecast is for more rain later. I received my next ophthalmology appointment last night, they really are quick off the mark! It is for 2nd August. All my hospital appointments are online now, which makes life easier for me. No real plans for today, I’m trying to get back into my routine of physio exercises and Gaelic studies. Physio for the body and Gaelic for the mind smile.

A tough day for you Grandmattie flowers

Hope everyone finds a little happiness along the way today 🌻🌻

Good morning all from a dark grey, rainy, misty Angus coast. Thank goodness I got that towel wash done and out - and dried! - after tai chi yesterday.
abitbarmy, sorry for your diagnosis yesterday, but glad Marydoll could give you a fellow-sufferer's support.
Hope OD feels better as the day goes on Ash. My days have been a bit topsy turvy this week and I'm not sure I've read all the posts - but I'm assuming you're off back to France again? Bon voyage anyway.
My mantra is always and this too shall pass when going through bad times grandmattie, as other posters have said. Not a comfort really when times are awful, but true nevertheless. flowers
My car is still off the road, and I'm not holding out much hope for getting it back today either as he's having a problem getting parts. They should have come in yesterday am, but didn't. And of course it's a holiday weekend, so if it doesn't get done today it will be next Tuesday/Wednesday at the earliest. The taxi companies are laughing (I'm not on a bus route).
On a brighter note, Dancing GD is enjoying her time in Tallinn, Estonia, and has managed to fit in a good bit of sightseeing between the dance rehearsals, not to mention a tasting of the local beer! The photo is one she sent to me - so jealous of those blue skies!
There seem to be a lot of unwellness and problems on here today, so I hope that a little sunshine gets through to light everyone's days. I must admit I'm having a problem with the old "attitude of gratitude" today - and I've looked at the weather app, and no help there either!

Good morning Mick and everyone from a damp Oxfordshire, heavy overnight rain, but feels mild. Very hot indoors, for some reason the boiler has been belting out the heat this morning, will keep an eye on the thermostat which might need replacing. Heat is now off and doors open.
Spent most of yesterday cleaning the conservatory, MrOops doesn’t like me being up on the stepladder, but he hovered and left me to it, it looks so clean and shiny. After getting myself clean and, it has to be said, shiny I sat and read a book.
Nephew has his Second Opinion appointment at the Spinal Unit this morning, fingers crossed he won’t walk out, MissOops will be with him and can carry on the conversation in his absence, they have all been warned.
That’s it, dog sitting today, hopefully we will have a dry walk later.
GM you have coped marvellously over the past couple of years, I’m not surprised that grief has ambushed you again, take care of yourself💐
Hugs for all those who are unwell, take care everyone.

EkwaNimitee Fri 05-May-23 08:51:15

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather rainy Carlisle.

Not much happened yesterday....the ironing got done, quite a bit of admin including a clear out of old paperwork plus a Tesco delivery. I wasn't tempted out into the garden as there was a stiff chilly wind from the NE.
Not much will be happening today either, I had a poor night caused by indigestion and the onset of another my regular infections. I plan to amuse myself on the computer and with a book in the hopes that it won't get worse and prevent me from popping out for the papers tomorrow. I remember the special editions for the last coronation and am interested to see what they will come out with for this one.

That fridge-freezer was the last straw grandMattie, I hope all goes well with you from now on.

And you too abitbarmy, that was a shock for you.

The best possible day to you all.

Good morning everyone from a grey and damp Northampton.

Hairdressers yesterday, then home for a quick lunch, then out to ballet class. Had to miss my tap lesson, but I hope to catch up next week. Dropped into the charity shop and got a lovely pair of soft drapey trousers which will be ideal for yoga - only £2.99.

Must make a shopping list for today; there are a few things I need for the weekend. Decided I need a mooch around Matalan, so will do that first, then M&S Food and Sainsbury's. Will have coffee and a bite to eat out. Curry for dinner tonight.

Hopes for all to have a good day.

Moth62 Fri 05-May-23 08:39:10

Thank you, Wyllow3 and Marydoll. smile

harrigran Fri 05-May-23 08:35:15

Good morning from a damp NE where it is 10 degrees.
Had a quiet day yesterday catching up with TV and reading my novel.
Need to do some housework today as sister and BIL will visit this afternoon, usually call on a Saturday but they will be staying at home to watch the coronation tomorrow.
Happy Birthday to Absent in NZ, it is evening so hope you had a good day.
Thoughts are with those who are poorly.

glammagran Fri 05-May-23 08:34:16

I usually read GN later in the day. I wanted to say how delightful it was to read that Gingster’s daughter has got the all clear.

Suffering from a first ever attack of BPPV at the moment but feeling a bit better this morning. GP demonstrated the Epley manoeuvre to try and clear my inner ear but I haven’t done so yet as I felt so nauseous yesterday.

GDG3 has chicken pox but she isn’t too bad she’s quite stoic. Doesn’t bear thinking about if 2 year old GS2 gets it. He was furious yesterday as he’d been moved into another group at his nursery where he knew no one.. The upside is he’s talking there. As he was the oldest in the previous group he hadn’t had the need to talk. He can hold a reasonable conversation on the phone so hasn’t got the speech difficulties his sister had but hers have improved immensely since she started school. A friend gave them free tickets to Peppa Pig world last Saturday which they hugely enjoyed.

Have a good dat all.

Kate54 Fri 05-May-23 08:28:55

Good morning from a regular reader but irregular poster in South Lincolnshire. I simply wanted to admire Grandmattie, not only for dealing with the fridge freezer issue but for her marvellous phrase ‘ambushed by sorrow’ following the loss of her son. It absolutely nails the feeling - and I speak as someone who also lost a son last year.
We just keep going, don’t we? But goodness those ambushes are always lurking.
A new day today, though, and I’m off on a ‘walking’ week with a group of very good female friends. Like Gransnet but in the flesh! Can’t beat it. Have a good day everyone and here’s hoping your local election results give you plenty to talk about!

Grammaretto Fri 05-May-23 08:27:42

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's to be a bit warmer 14° C today but rain.
We were lucky with our U3A walk yesterday. It was around the beautiful grounds of Heriot Watt uni Campus.

The plumber had fitted the new water tank by the time I was home and though the dehumidifier is still filling up.
I was able to soak in a hot bath with epsom salts
Today my voluntary shop job and tonight an art exhibition for a friend and former colleague who has died.

That's rotten luck abitbarmy . Let's hope it won't affect your pleasures too much.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Alygran Fri 05-May-23 08:21:13

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s raining.
Ironing to do this morning as I was too tired last night after our trip to Salts Mill. What a fascinating place!
I’m off into town later to pick up my documents for my holiday in Canada in 10 days and to get some bits for a shared coronation lunch at a friend’s tomorrow. Then I need to sort a room for DD2 who is coming late tomorrow for our quick trip to Northumberland.
Have a good day everyone

Marydoll Fri 05-May-23 08:19:01

Here you are, Moth.

Wyllow3 Fri 05-May-23 08:16:47

Moth62 there is a choice of what to view just underneath the main big announcement "Gransnet Forums" which include what you ask for, just click on them.

What i found harder to find was how to access special interests.the very top red bar has a choice called "forums" and if you click on it you can choose an area of interest.

Very dull out and rain predicted, although in fact I've had little rain and the garden needs some. Yesterday was busy clearing out the garage ad the big shop so the only "to-do's today are the chemist, and reading more Maisie Dobbs as I'm working my way through the series.

Best for poorlies especially difficult diagnosis:have good outings, gransnetters.

Moth62 Fri 05-May-23 08:09:38

Thank you, Marydoll. How do I find Last Hour or Last Day, please.

Marydoll Fri 05-May-23 08:05:03

Moth, welcome back. I never read the newsletter, I just go into Last hour or Last Day.

Grandmabatty Fri 05-May-23 08:04:18

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and damp. I'm feeling a bit unwell today so it's a quick visit to the thread. I must pick up my prescription and get some food in. Have a good day all

brook2704 Fri 05-May-23 07:58:29

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and grey, hoping the sun comes out later
Hoping your DH is feeling better soon Ash and safe onward travels today
It’s the circuits class at the gym this morning, hard work but made a bit easier by the great instructor and other ladies for moral support! Then a trip to the garden centre, I’m hoping to find a few new plants to fill some gaps in the garden after yesterdays digging out and tidying
abitbarmy hoping the call with your GP helps
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Greyduster Fri 05-May-23 07:56:48

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a damp and dreary South Yorkshire. It’s payback time for all the good weather we’ve had this week. Had a nice walk yesterday morning and then bought plants with DD in the afternoon. I didn’t get everything I wanted - they’ve had a run on perennials this week - but there’s enough to be going on with. I have to make a trip into town this morning (oh joy!🙄) and then this evening I’m going to the theatre with DD and SiL so back into town again.
Ash I hope OD is better soon and the journey isn’t too onerous today.
Have the best day you can, folks.

ginny Fri 05-May-23 07:54:57

Good morning. Not had time to read all the posts yet , will come back later.
I have a coach to catch at 9 and am off to ‘Living Crafts’ being held at Hatfield House.
Wishing all a good day.

Moth62 Fri 05-May-23 07:53:00

How lovely to find you all again. For some reason, my daily Gransnet newsletter stopped arriving a few months ago so I’ve now reinstalled it. I’ve missed finding out what everyone is up to! We are off to stay with our DiL and grandchildren for the weekend. I’m hoping to watch the Coronation on tv but viewing might be a bit hit and miss! Have a lovely weekend everyone, whatever you’re doing. smile

luluaugust Fri 05-May-23 07:48:47

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Shopping and GS care later. Mystery parcel coming from DD2 later, it seems to be for tomorrow when she will watch the Coronation with me.
gM so sorry you had a run in with such unhelpful people, glad it seems to be sorted out now.
Abitbarmy yes it is a horrible shock but as Marydoll says there are lots of treatments now.
Best wishes to all
