I usually organise our trips away with my husband, I love to research hotels, holiday homes etc and usually come up with something really good.

My husband is taking me away tonight for 3 nights as a surprise, I have no idea where, other than it’s UK.

I have been told what to take in terms of dress and my walking boots have been put in the car.

It’s a very strange feeling, I have no control on this one!

If it’s a tent , Im coming home😉.

I’m with you on the organising of holidays and trips . I always do it and really enjoy the researching . Last year we went to Croatia with friends who organised it . I did feel a bit weird , not being in control but we had a lovely time .
However a 3 day break I could deal with . I’m sure your dh would have consulted your dc . Enjoy the break

Hope it’s a wonderful break sago.

I’m sort of envious. In 54 years of marriage Mr C has never suggested a destination let alone arranged a holiday. He’s only 80. There’s time yet grin.

We arrived at a truly delightful self catering cottage near Ashbourne Derbyshire.
As I was unpacking my 8 year old granddaughter crept upstairs followed by her 3 year old brother!
My daughter and SIL are in the cottage next door.

I took the children swimming and returned to find my 2 sons with their partners, they are in another cottage.

They produced a fabulous dinner last night, there is a Clonakilty breakfast hamper with enough sausages and bacon to feed an army, cake, champagne, early doors dinner booked at a local pub later and all sorts of lovely goodies.
It is my 60th later this month.

Son no1 I thought was in Suffolk for the weekend with his wife, son no2 has been at a wedding in London with his girlfriend and I thought he was flying back to Oslo yesterday.
My daughter told me they were joining in their local village Coronation celebrations.
They all lie well😉.

Poor girlfriend of no2 being introduced to all of us at once, she is delightful and seems to be coping well.

I am so lucky.

FannyCornforth Sat 06-May-23 08:56:23

Ooh how lovely!
I know Ashbourne very well, it’s only 30 minutes away from us.
We often stay there as it feels like a proper holiday, but we can always come home if they’d is some sort of medical emergency (which I’m always mindful of)
Wishing you and your family a wonderful time Sago thanks

That was a brilliant surprise, Sago. Have a wonderful time.

I'm with grannyqueenie on cruises - not wanting to be on them, that is, but I too would love a trip around Norwegian fjords.

Great surprise! We know Parwich really well and love the area.

Last night we had a dinner booked at the Cock Inn Muggington, we ate in a pod in their beautiful knotted garden.
The food and service was outstanding and having our own pod meant the children were not annoying other diners!
They did however behave beautifully as we were all so relaxed.

Swimming with the children this morning after breakfast then BBQ lunch.

Sons both leaving at tea time but daughter and family here with us until Monday.

Son no 2’s girlfriend has had a baptism of fire, having never met any of us before!
She is delightful, she is staying on in the UK to undertake training for part of the round the world clipper race, I’m sure that will feel like a walk in the park after 3 days of us😂.
