I usually organise our trips away with my husband, I love to research hotels, holiday homes etc and usually come up with something really good.

My husband is taking me away tonight for 3 nights as a surprise, I have no idea where, other than it’s UK.

I have been told what to take in terms of dress and my walking boots have been put in the car.

It’s a very strange feeling, I have no control on this one!

If it’s a tent , Im coming homešŸ˜‰.

Have a great time Sago. It sounds as if you have a family who knows you well and can certainly keep secrets. Congrats to your DH for getting it so right.wine

That was a brilliant surprise, Sago. Have a wonderful time.

I'm with grannyqueenie on cruises - not wanting to be on them, that is, but I too would love a trip around Norwegian fjords.

Have a lovely time !

FannyCornforth Sat 06-May-23 08:56:23

Ooh how lovely!
I know Ashbourne very well, it’s only 30 minutes away from us.
We often stay there as it feels like a proper holiday, but we can always come home if they’d is some sort of medical emergency (which I’m always mindful of)
Wishing you and your family a wonderful time Sago thanks

We arrived at a truly delightful self catering cottage near Ashbourne Derbyshire.
As I was unpacking my 8 year old granddaughter crept upstairs followed by her 3 year old brother!
My daughter and SIL are in the cottage next door.

I took the children swimming and returned to find my 2 sons with their partners, they are in another cottage.

They produced a fabulous dinner last night, there is a Clonakilty breakfast hamper with enough sausages and bacon to feed an army, cake, champagne, early doors dinner booked at a local pub later and all sorts of lovely goodies.
It is my 60th later this month.

Son no1 I thought was in Suffolk for the weekend with his wife, son no2 has been at a wedding in London with his girlfriend and I thought he was flying back to Oslo yesterday.
My daughter told me they were joining in their local village Coronation celebrations.
They all lie wellšŸ˜‰.

Poor girlfriend of no2 being introduced to all of us at once, she is delightful and seems to be coping well.

I am so lucky.

Hope it’s a wonderful break sago.

I’m sort of envious. In 54 years of marriage Mr C has never suggested a destination let alone arranged a holiday. He’s only 80. There’s time yet grin.

Tenko Fri 05-May-23 18:38:43

I’m with you on the organising of holidays and trips . I always do it and really enjoy the researching . Last year we went to Croatia with friends who organised it . I did feel a bit weird , not being in control but we had a lovely time .
However a 3 day break I could deal with . I’m sure your dh would have consulted your dc . Enjoy the break

ginny Fri 05-May-23 18:25:48

Enjoy it whatever it is. Lovely that he cares enough to pry it out.

Kim19 Fri 05-May-23 18:23:12

I ashamedly admit to being decidedly envious. Enjoy!

Have the best time Sago šŸŒžšŸ„‚

What a splendid husband you have, Sago- I hope that you'll come back to tell us about it.
My children booked me a surprise holiday for my seventieth birthday- all very hush hush, just told take your passport and pack clothes for a warm and sunny break. The day before, I bumped into my daughter's inlaws who said " ooh lucky you, going to S...we've always wanted to go there..".

nadateturbe Fri 05-May-23 14:19:36

If he has consulted, should be ok. Enjoy!šŸ™‚

FannyCornforth Fri 05-May-23 13:46:54

Brilliant! Have fun 🤩

grannyqueenie Fri 05-May-23 13:38:53

Hopefully if he’s consulted with the family and it will be just perfect and you’ll be able to enjoy it together.

I’m not keen on surprises either and like you prefer to know what’s happening. My old boy gets presents either absolutely spot on or just disastrous, so if I were in your shoes I’d be more worried. than excited! He booked a surprise cruise for my 60th, I said what bit of ā€œI never, ever want to go on a cruiseā€ did you manage not to hear in the last 40 years?ā€ In fairness we went and I really enjoyed the Norwegian Fiords but cruising still isn’t for me!!

Squiffy Fri 05-May-23 11:48:50

Hope you have a wonderful time - wherever you end up!
