Well I thought I would start this thread for those who are going to sit back and enjoy the day.

At the beginning of my life -I was 6 years old, I was at Hyde Park Corner under a policeman’s cap, in the pouring rain, now at 77 I am at home in front of the television.

I shall enjoy every minute of it. Just watching the guests arriving.

Oh this is superb! In the gardens.

Princess Anne never stops talking! Bit like us on GN😄

Yes a thank you to WW a nice thread, for a memorable day, which has clearly given so many an uplift even if the weather is horrible. I had a conversation with my son about his assertion "none of this changes people's lives" to which my response was "neither does supporting your football team and being overjoyed when they win that won't change your life but it's the feel good factor" not a bad thing imo.

I can’t help my belief that it ‘should have been Anne’.
(And don’t get me started on Charlotte…)

Have enjoyed every minute of it and reading everyone's posts on this great thread so a 'thank you' from me too Whitewavemark.

Well, this non-tv watcher has sat in front of the tv for 4 hours, with only occasional distractions and wanders round. This is probably a lifetime record.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found it moving and just the right length.

We had coronation chicken for lunch. I am sorry, but that quiche just sounded dull and I am not much of a quiche person anyway.

DD and my DDIl's sister have been up in St James and are now positioning themselves for a view of The Balcony.

Did anybody else experience frequent interrupted sound quality on BBC during the service? Switched over to ITV in the end.

Suspect it’s the Russian government again - I’ve noticed that whenever PBS broadcast anti-putin programmes the sound crackles every few mins.

We have coronation chicken planned for Monday. Just finished quiche Jerseys and salad with a large glass of red.

I thought India Hicks dress was gorgeous, so elegant in an understated way.

Lovely material.

I agree. Gorgeous dress. Am still thinking about what a great job Penny Mordaunt did as well as how perfect she looked.

Totally agree about Penny Mordaunt, she looked elegant and so competent and composed.

Thought the balcony scene was very poignant for Charles, brought home how now it really is him, first time without his mother there.

I just hope the sight of the thousands(?) tens of thousands(?) filling the Mall and in front of Buckingham Palace , cheering, waving, shouting and singing God Save the King will finally disabuse the naysayers, the meh-sayers and those who thought this would be a damp squib.
Damp it certainly was - was no squib!

Yes we did, right from the beginning, I was worried we were going to lose it altogether.

maddyone Sat 06-May-23 14:53:08

Totally agree about Penny Mordaunt. She was wearing a gorgeous outfit too.

Aveline Sat 06-May-23 15:09:33

juicy words we had no problem with sound quality. Maybe it's a more local problem for you?

We did right at the beginning, a fragmented screen too, but it could have been due to our aerial not being pushed back in correctly after yesterday's thunderstorms.

eazybee Sat 06-May-23 15:22:19

I had sound interference and wondered if it was the weather. relieved that it wasn't just me.

I don't think anyone could doubt the sincerity of Charles' vows; definitely a lifelong commitment, like his mother.

Me too. Beautiful.

Thank you so much for this thread WWM2. I have really enjoyed reading everyone's posts.

Thought Penny Mordaunt looked just right and was composed, although at one point I noticed she was blinking a lot as though trying to hold back tears.

The children were all gorgeous and well behaved, whether royal or in the choir. The music was wonderful. I enjoyed seeing all the clothes .... a most enjoyable morning.

Primrose53 Sat 06-May-23 15:36:48

I thought little Louis was very well behaved. I saw him with his parents and Charlotte while George was with the other Pages.

Later I noticed he had disappeared from the audience. I think he must have left after William went to take the Crown to Charles. He did very well to endure all those hours at such a tender age.

Serendipity22 Sat 06-May-23 15:37:11

It was absolutely wonderful, tears were rife when Charles
was crowned King. The whole of everything made me proud to be British but i couldn't shake the thought of toilets as I watched in wonder at the scenes that were unfolding from my TV, but that was a mere thought that soon disappeared and the pomp, pageantry and pride took first place ...

Well, wasn't that marvellous! I loved every minute of it. DH and I had our daughter, son in law and the four grandchildren here to watch on our TV. I made a buffet lunch and we've had a lovely time.
The horses pulling the State coach looked magnificent, and the music both inside Westminster Abbey and the military bands outside were superb. Pity about the weather, but hey ho!

He came back again later and was there when they came out in the processation.

I liked the way Penny Mordaunt was singing the National Anthem as she processed at the end.

She looked great, and was marvellous in her role.

A job well done…🥳🥳

One for FannyCornforth. I’m not particularly interested in the royals but I love anything to do with costume, style and needlework. I spotted this on Twitter.

Camilla has the two rescue dogs embroidered onto her coronation gown.
