Well I thought I would start this thread for those who are going to sit back and enjoy the day.

At the beginning of my life -I was 6 years old, I was at Hyde Park Corner under a policeman’s cap, in the pouring rain, now at 77 I am at home in front of the television.

I shall enjoy every minute of it. Just watching the guests arriving.

Absolutely Fabulous!!

A sincere thank you Whitewave for starting this thread!
Watching it on my own, apart from Rosie who slept through the whole thing apart from the occasional squirrel chase - I felt I was among friends, so thank you all for your company 🙏

Well.

Splendid!

My dd visited with the boys. Dgs2(18 months) presented me with the royal knobs of the oven and anointed my floor with the cup of tea (cold) while dgs1(4) waited for the trusty sword to be used. He was disappointed in that. Then he wanted King Charles to put on the crown. He thought he might change into a hero type king so he was disappointed in that.

I did enjoy getting another peek at the gorgeous Johnny.

Yes, he is exceptionally easy on the eye…

The cavalry are magnificent, but I have a soft spot for the marines, having ancestors who served with them.

My (met police) grandson is on duty in the Mall. What a day to remember.

He is!

I'm sure I saw him say "So many people out there!" when they were in the carriage. I thought it was cute.

I've been in and out of our living room, where the telly is, doing other stuff but have been here since the crowning. Grandson aged 9 said he liked seeing the King being crowned, and added "I'm going to remember this" time will tell! granddaughter aged 12 came in with her laptop with a request to granddad "can you help me with my Spanish homework?" stayed for a short while looking at the ceremony but went off bored in spite inspite of my husband doing his best to turn them both into mini me royalists. My son came in and out of the room remarking "well all this means nothing to me, I'd never queue up in the rain like that lot".....after a while grudgingly remarked "quite impressive, though" sitting here now almost awestruck in fact grin Other son out of the country so he could escape it altogether! When I came in for the crowning I surprised myself by getting a lump in my throat! I do agree it's all quite splendid and brings a lot of people together in a nice way. It's good to have such feelgood threads.

Some good manoeuvres by the marchers😄😄

Off to Buckingham palace gardens

Wonder if we’ll see it? Be a bit muddy!

Whitewavemark2 Sat 06-May-23 13:29:59

Oh they’ve got the biggest royal standard flying. I remember seeing it on a visit to the palace with the grandchildren and it is huge!

maddyone Sat 06-May-23 13:32:13

I’m watching BBC1 and the presenter just said all the children are old enough to remember this, even Louis. I just thought, what a shame that Archie isn’t here, he would have remembered it. Obviously not Lily, but Archie would. It’s a total shame.

FannyCornforth Sat 06-May-23 13:33:35

I think I’m a born again monarchist 😃
And as 🦊 y said, it’s been lovely company on here.
Thanks WW and all x

Three cheers for all the horses! Did the Irish wolfhound take part as I haven’t noticed

maddyone Sat 06-May-23 13:34:59

I expect the other royal children, the Zara’s and Peter’s will be involved afterwards in the celebrations. Having said that, I haven’t noticed Peter, Princess Anne’s son. Is he there?

Anniebach Sat 06-May-23 13:35:20

Thank you Whitewave. I enjoyed having company

Whitewavemark2 Sat 06-May-23 13:36:55

Yes, I saw him walking into the Abbey.

Robert Hardman describes it as timeless.
A good word.

Continuing the thread of history.

Thanks Poppyred. Good he’s there.

I think I’m a born again monarchist too Fanny.

And thank you Whitewave for the thread, it’s been lovely having everyone’s company.

Yes, I saw a couple of ‘step, ball, changes’ going on!
I tried to demonstrate it to DH but it’s not easy at the moment 🤦‍♀️
