Well I thought I would start this thread for those who are going to sit back and enjoy the day.

At the beginning of my life -I was 6 years old, I was at Hyde Park Corner under a policeman’s cap, in the pouring rain, now at 77 I am at home in front of the television.

I shall enjoy every minute of it. Just watching the guests arriving.

Look at Kate’s face! I wonder what she’s thinking?
Her mum must be sooo proud

CNN coverage is good, less sycophantic than BBC. Prince George holding KC train at the rear there ...

Camilla looks overawed and close to tears. It must be overwhelming.

I saw the Princess of Wales giving Prince Louis a Mum look as they entered the Abbey 🤣

I am not particularly a royalist and have no idea why I’m getting so emotional…😢

maddyone Sat 06-May-23 11:05:17

I was pleased to see Louis there, all dressed up in uniform. I think he’ll have been well tutored in what is expected and behaviour.

maddyone Sat 06-May-23 11:06:01

Me too Shinamae. I think it’s the pageantry and the history.

Dr David Starkey is doing a superb job on GB News Channel. He is such an expert historian and there is little he doesn’t know.

He just admitted that he has absolutely no idea why William and Kate have arrived after the King and Queen. He said it is most strange.

Wow! doesn't even begin to get there. No-one does pomp and ceremony like we do. So very moving... and I'm a Republican by persuasion! Just think of the many millions watching this worldwide.

Lomo123 Sat 06-May-23 11:11:10

Kate looks magnificent.

It’s very emotional 🥲

maddyone Sat 06-May-23 11:14:16

David Starkey is indeed a very knowledgeable historian, whatever anyone may think of him. He knows his stuff. But I’m watching BBC now so don’t know what he’s saying.

Charles is understandably very nervous - but he is doing fine.

kircubbin2000 Sat 06-May-23 11:24:59

Awful mournful music!

Callistemon21 Sat 06-May-23 11:26:13

Beautiful choral music

Bizziebe Sat 06-May-23 11:26:22

That William Byrd just gone is very difficult to sing.

I think he has had The Chat with his parents 😁 and I wondered if Nanny is somewhere nearby, ready to whisk him away.

ilovepuffins Sat 06-May-23 11:28:42

I am glad it isn't just me who finds it emotional!
I agree Charles seems nervous but is doing very well.
Wonderful really

Wow 6th century!!

Whitewavemark2 Sat 06-May-23 11:31:56

I wonder who wrote it? A monk presumably. Must look it up.

Wow 6th century!!

Yes, amazing that it has survived thinking of all the religious turmoil over the centuries!

Was it St Augustine?
