Thank you Charles (What did you do today if you didn't watch?)?)

Just wanted a thread for those of us who are not watching every minute. It's a lovely day up north and I've a line of washing out. I also decided to spring clean my sitting room! So thanks Charles, I uncovered 2 missing socks, 77p in change, several pins, some hair elastics and a load of dust!
What have you done if you aren't glued to the TV?
Think I'll go for a walk now.

I've done absolutely nothing

Ok washed up a few times, a load of washing, the hoovering and cleaned the bathroom but it was 90% nothing

Also dyed my hair. A yucky job out of the way.

Thankyou Charles or allowing me to weed my garden are putting it of or a long time.
I then went to local shops. No street parties or decorations seen where I live in the Wild West End of Newcastle.
My telly stayed off all day.
I saw the one in 1953 when I was not quite 9 years old.We were seated around my grandmother's brand new Ekco telly with it's tiny black and white pictures which my uncle had just bought for her. She had her next door neighbours and some of her friends in.I remember the delicious ''spread'' as she called it and my great grandmother then 82 commenting on the wireless with pictures on.
So thank you Charles for giving me the time to do a very boring backbreaking but necessary job in my garden.

I cleaned the silver: it seemed appropriate.

I watched some of the ceremony over breakfast and it was "on" while I was doing other things related to my business. I did enjoy the wonderful music though, I got bored at about 12.30 and turned it off. I did see some of the highlights later in the evening. Im not much of a TV watcher nowadays. I dont find it a compelling medium and after more than an hour my mind begins to drift onto other things. Im sure there will be plenty of opportunities to watch any of the bits I missed on i-player and netflix.

If we did not have the monarchy, whom do you think would be excellent in the role and stay the course.

Allsorts - I can't see why we would need anybody - what 'role' exactly would need filling?

It's been good having a deliberate 'no TV' this weekend, quite refreshing, in fact, despite the rain. Junk has been cleared from the garage at last. It's amazing, just how much gets done when I listen to music.

Allsorts

If we did not have the monarchy, whom do you think would be excellent in the role and stay the course.

That depends entirely of what the role is and how long the course is.
There must be heaps of people who would be a good, elected head of state for a fixed term.

I certainly wasn’t watching every minute, in fact I saw very little of the coverage. I was far too busy pinning up bunting, setting up the buffet, sorting out emergency flood defences for the leaky quiche, having a laugh with the family, gossiping and critiquing the outfits with our girls, presiding over the Coronation quiz, rounding up the grandsons for Coronation bingo and checking they didn’t cheat at pin the crown on the (caricature of the) King, trying to explain to our littlest that even though he kept his royal shirt and crown on all day, he wasn’t actually the king…. And drinking fizz, Pimms and tea from china cups, lots of it. We started at 9.30am and went home at 7pm (unfortunately not in gold carriages).

So I didn’t see much of what was going on on the screens in the corners, but I did hear the music (blissful). And we all had a lovely day that I think we’ll remember for a long time to come.

Dancing at a festival. Saw a little bit of coronation in hotel bedroom before setting off.
