1)
Did any of GN who are experienced at riding, notice the black horse getting nervous and skittish?
It seemed like quite a long time for the rider to cope with.
Any ideas what caused that to happen?
All the other horses and riders did a good job of not letting it knock the momentum. Well done them.

2)
Did anyone find out why the King's carriage was early and William's and Kate's late?

3)
Close up coverage of the King showed him sounding off to Camilla in the coach.
His head was aggressively nodding. I should think his neck will be aching today with that action and the weight of the crown.
I'm nosy enough to hope some bright spark of a lip reader will tell us what he was saying!grin

4)
What's the difference if any, between a coach and carriage?

5)
Why did the BBC charge sky and gbnews for footage, when foreign tv news stations transmitted the Coronation for free?

6)
For a split second I felt sorry for Harry, coping with the fall out of his own actions.
Judging by the peoples faces around Harry outside the Abby, he was particularly sharp with Eugenie at one point. Beatrice looked so alarmed at the interchange, I thought I saw the blood drain out of her face before my eyes.
Anyone else pay such forensic attention to minutiae as I did?grin

7)
I thought the no tiara idea was silly.
Pomp and ceremony was the order of the day.
People got around this, by wearing feathers and flowers and diamante anyway, and it didn't look as regal imv.
Loved to see Charlotte with her circlet.

8)
Lets talk hats. Some people had such big hats on.
Very, very inconsiderate of others sitting behind.
Pippa Middleton, Trudeau's wife, Queen Letizia (beautiful though it was), and largest of all Katie Perry's humongous offering.
Pippa Middleton's outfit did look wonderful though.
Best hat for this type of occasion worn by Princess Charlene of Monaco imv, who looked amazing.
But Top of the Pops was of course, Princess Anne.
That feather is the talking point around the world apparently.

9)
Sorry those who like her outfit, but Penny Mordant I think, should have worn a colour that reflected the clothing of the previous Lord President of the Privy Council.
Black and gold I think.
It wasn't her day to stand out from the crowd.
After all if wearing a uniform was good enough for the Princess Royal.....

10)
Back to Harry, I hope Jack Brooksbank phone was set to record, as Harry was in full swing inside the Abby. Animated, gesticulating, even gurning.
Whilst Jack Brooksbank apparantly took the trouble to obscure his face when answering, Harry seemed to take a lot of pleasure in being as noticeable as possible.

11) Did the pot holes in the road get filled in for this occasion?
I don't think the crown would stay on their heads if they had a road like the one I live on!

12)
Oh and last but not least, I adored the gorgeous voice of Pretty Yende.
Not so much the banana coloured dress, with it's outsized collar. Lacked dignity for the occasion, in my opinion.

And you? What quizzical tiny detail impressed you, or made you chuckle?

So why do you say the same thing again and again Glorianny?

Oreo Mon 15-May-23 22:19:06

New York! New York! So good they named it twice.😁

You think King Charles would have sulked?
You’re probably just projecting what you would have done. 🤣🤣

Posting something twice doesn't make it true you know Mollygo
It just shows some obsession.

Bendygran Mon 15-May-23 19:28:07

I don't think Charles sulked.
I think he demonstrated that he wasn't afraid to show his frustration. This made him seem him all the more human.

The man who lost his temper at a fountain pen, and moaned because he thought he was late for his coronation? Couldn't possibly sulk could he??? grin

Misinformation.

The pen was in a dodgy position, who would want ink spilled everywhere?
He was early for the Coronation. The timing should have been impeccable.
Perhaps the horses had too many oats for breakfast?

You must try harder 😂

The pen leaked onto his fingers. Being the gentleman he is, he handed it to Camilla so she got covered too!!

Full marks on that one!!!

I do wonder if in future years Archie will ask why his grandad chose his birthday to be crowned.

Oh, for goodness sake! I should think finding a date suitable for the vast majority of the RF and distinguished guests is enough of a headache without trying to avoid the 4th birthday of a child whose parents have chosen to make their lives abroad

Am quite sure as Archie grows up, his mum and dad will be sure to make a point of telling him how his birthday was picked as Coronation Day to spoil his birthday, the fact that very few people can claim to remember their 4th birthday is irrelevant of course.

I always think it’s sad for children to have little or no extended family, even more so when it’s through family rifts.

Anniebach Mon 15-May-23 17:09:00

The child was flown to S.A. Canada to America, America to England, England to America

I wonder rather more as to how Archie and Lili will feel about being denied assess to both their grandfathers and their step grandmother. Also the rest of their extended families, aunts, uncles, cousins. Also their royal heritage. Maybe they’ll shrug and say they don’t care but maybe they won’t. Maybe they’ll ask why.

He could have had a lovely 4th birthday party at the Palace with all his cousins.
He and Louis could have had a fine old time tearing up and down all those corridors!

Oh come on. Do you seriously think the palace was empty? Not to mention the long flight, complete strangers, press pack hounding them and none of A's friends. Not a perfect party for a 4 year old.
Then Charles sulking cos it was meant to be his day.

I don't think I said the palace was empty did I? 🤔
How strange.

I had visions of Louis and Archie having fun and Nanny chasing them before they floored a footman carrying a platter of coronation chicken.

My DGC managed longer flights when he was younger. It's amazing how well children can sleep on a long haul flight, especially in First or Business, or someone's borrowed private jet.
Mind you, there are a lot of interesting dials to twiddle in Business 😁

Yes Callistemon21 And it would probably have been mentioned as an extra reason for it being a special day.

How are they"denied access" ? I'm sure if Charles wanted to pop in they would welcome him. Not sure about Papa Markle of course, but didn't he commit the same crime some want Harry ostracised for? Telling tales to the media.

We can all have opinions of how he felt and put our own views on what he felt about anything.
Harry attended, seemed to enjoy chatting with those near him, and with his Aunt if the picture is to be believed.
If the apparent bitterness continues, Archie will have no need to wonder about his Grandfather’s choice of coronation date. His parent(s) and the manure-stirring media will all make sure he remembers and has their point of view.

Glorianny Mon 15-May-23 12:53:13

Well here he is saying "Hi" to his Aunty Anne. Can't help but think he finds her outfit funny. Don't all good dads rush home from work on their child's birthday? I do wonder if in future years Archie will ask why his grandad chose his birthday to be crowned.

pascal30 Mon 15-May-23 12:21:15

I thought he looked anxious and uncomfortable.. and I don't think anyone thought he was going back because of the birthday. It was IMO a way for them all to save face..

specki4eyes Mon 15-May-23 12:05:58

How can anyone perceive, or even imagine, that Harry looked happy at his father's Coronation! Like a spoilt sulky toddler better describes his demeanor. And as for dashing back to attend his (phantom) son's 4th birthday...does anyone honestly remember their 4th birthday? Clearly Archie's mother didn't deem it important..she took a hike!

Norah Fri 12-May-23 13:30:36

Dickens If you look at modern men's hair styles - they are quite varied... they're not compelled now to have the traditional short-back-and-sides.

Indeed. Look to Boris, his hair may seem untidy, but he brushes it. I think we need not worry to any hair apart from our own.
