Happy Birthday Corner.
Good Morning Tuesday 21st April 2026
Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dry and pleasant start here in brackley on this bank holiday Monday morning.
Apart from some household chores and hopefully my light done in the bathroom today .
A quiet day of watching cycling on TV ,and maybe take a walk.
Take Care,
Mick
Happy Birthday Corner.
Mizuna, I was thinking of you. My pear tree has abundant blossom, the apple tree is a little behind. It is much colder here!
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a rather drear South Yorkshire, but we had the sun all afternoon for our garden party which was lovely. My neighbour’s young son has made scones for our last three gatherings and it’s become a standing joke that they have to pass my approval before anyone else gets to eat them. Needless to say they always do! I made a quiche and two strawberry flans which were very well received. It’s nice to be able to contribute.
DD and her menfolk are popping over for coffee today and bringing me some compost so I can plant my new rose. I was hoping to be able to cook lunch for them but they’re mega busy today.
A Very Happy Birthday, Corner. Enjoy your day!💐🎂🎁
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning from the South Downs.
Happy birthday corner May there be plenty more to come🥳🥳
A wet day is forecast although at the moment the sun is trying hard.
Very early walk again. I think it is something to do with spring and a female dog who is clearly walking in our locality. We go around at top speed, and I can’t let him off his lead as I can’t keep up with him. No doubt he will calm down in a couple of weeks.
I shall nip into the garden and do a bit if the rain keeps off, otherwise a bit of housework I think.
I shall also watch the coronation concert. My son phoned yesterday evening, and talked for ages, so I have recorded it. He said that they’d applied for and got tickets, but were in Mexico, and didn’t see them so were timed out. So they went to the ABBA hologram thing at Olympic park. He said he hopes the technology gets better😄😄😄. It cost ABBA a fortune apparently.
Might have coronation chicken for dinner or I might make fish and chips - see what we fancy later.
Have an excellent day everyone.
Morning all, rain is imminent here in S Hampshire. Glorious weather yesterday, family bbq went well, lots of leftovers.
MrJ is at work already, so a quiet day for me.
Happy Birthday corner 🎉🎂🎈.
🦩🦩
Good morning all from cloudy 🌥️ Harrogate
I hope you let your neighbours know that you, too, have the perfect family!
Happy birthday 🥳 Corner
Hope your coughs soon diminish Ashcombe.
Yesterday my little party went well though it was only half the number I had expected, but the twelve of us did very well and mixed very well.
Today we recover! My telephone 📞 call to my school friend and calls to my sisters, and probably take down the bunting.
Have the best day possible folks
Good morning from a mild but overcast and showery Tyneside. Off this morning to spend the week in bonny Berwick upon Tweed, so just about to start packing. As usual, both pooches know that something is in the offing, and have just had a mad half hour chasing each other around the house. Weather forecast for the week isn't that great, but at least it's a change of scene, which is always good for morale. Hope your day goes well.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and dreich. The rain is pelting down. Cornergran a very happy birthday to you.
Yesterday was a bad day. I had been so sick in the night then received a message from my brother that mum was unwell and an ambulance was on its way. We have a difficult relationship but I went straight there. I won't go into the details but there has been appalling lack of care by him (he lives with her). It looks like mum has had a stroke and possibly has an infection of some sort. She was comfortable and sleeping when I left last night and I'll go back to the hospital this morning to speak to the doctors. Her care by the paramedics, the emergency doctor and the nurses has been exemplary. Apart from that, I'll do a spot of cleaning in the house. Have a good day all
GMBatty what a difficult time, you are having. 💐
Good morning Mick and all from a wet Oxfordshire, at least we had a lovely warm, sunny day yesterday after a wet start, hopefully the same will happen today.
Nothing much happening here , some housework and that’s it. Although I started clearing unused crockery and glasses from the kitchen cupboards yesterday, I might carry on today.
Happy Birthday Corner have a lovely day.
Hope everyone sees some sunshine, actually and figuratively.
Have a good day everyone.
The weather was perfect for our very enjoyable Street tea party
so today’s rain is forgiven, though I hope it is not too heavy as I have five new roses waiting to be planted in the new bed plus some bits for a couple of pots.
Thinking of gMattie, suffering the inevitable deflation after months of planning and decision making; it will get better though I know what you mean about other people’s perfect families!
Good morning from a sunny Suffolk. Yesterday was a gloriously sunny afternoon and the garden seems to have come on in leaps and bounds over the last 48 hours….a combination of heavy rain and warm sunshine I suppose.
We watched the coronation concert and, although much of the music wasn’t to my taste,I thought the lighting and special effects were stupendous. Off this morning to look at a glamping site for a large family gathering next year. Luckily there is also a cottage on site for those of us of a certain age.
GM your comment about the brilliant offspring of some of your new neighbours reminded me of those ‘ round robin ‘ letters which used to appear in friends’ Christmas cards where their offspring had the highest possible grades in violin exams, school exams etc.
Hope all have a good day,in spite of the rainy weather in some places.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It's raining.
The plants will be happy. I said I'd join the community gardeners today by filling raised beds with new compost. I may go and watch!
After my foraging I made nettle soup yesterday for the Quakers. it all got eaten!
A df invited me to join their barbeque last night . They cooked freshly caught trout for the coronation meal.
Well done gM ! It will get better. We do love to boast about our DGC to anyone who'll listen. You must be a good listener. What a relief you missed all those visits from the warden!
I am glad so many here have had a great weekend. Baubles I am determined to see Dublin soon. I've not been.
Happy birthday 🎉 Corner such a lot of celebrations.
Sending warm wishes to you Multi and others who are bereaved. It is times like this when we feel most alone
Good morning everyone from a dull but dry North Yorkshire but forecast to rain later. Coronation day and yesterday were gloriously sunny after dodgy starts so yesterday’s village hall party went well with enough food to feed an army. DGd had a whale of a time on the bouncy castle and making new friends. A late bedtime but at least she didn’t wake till 7.30 this morning. A great weekend all round. Grandad still snoring as I write. Today we must crack on with preparations for the new flooring coming Wednesday so will take DGd home at lunchtime. I’ve got lots of sorting to do with tomato plants repotting etc but mindful of my poor spine after scan result. Hard to keep asking DH to lift this, move that, but I suppose I’ll get used to it. Hope everyone has a good day if possible.
Marydoll you're not wrong! 2023 has been a helluva year so far. As they say, things can only get better.
I’m so sorry you’re having such a difficult time Grandmabatty.Look after yourself too💐
Good Morning from Normandy. Today is a Bank Holiday in France on May 8th, VE day. I am taking a posy of flowers from our garden to the ceremony at the village War Memorial in memory of an English pilot who died here in June 1944.
Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast.
Finally unpacked from my trip and watched the coronation concert. Too much pop for me, but liked Lionel Ritchie. My DD lives in Windsor and watched it on the long walk.
Will have a warble today as on the desk for music club tomorrow and singing.
Very pleased to hear your news re your DD Gingster, being away, am late catching up.
Thoughts to GMBatty and many happy returns of the day Corner
Over cast and likely to rain here in S Yorks tho no rain yet.
Happy birthday Cornergran and a very tough time GMBatty
Quiet day here, just a gentle gym. GFS very bad atm so its nice when I can get out. Quakers was its usual oasis of peace yesterday.
Good morning from Essex by the sea. The sun is shining at the moment but rain is expected later.
I watched the concert last night and enjoyed it very much.
Happy Birthday to Corner, have a lovely day.
Thinking of you GMBatty.
Roast pork later, we couldn't be bothered yesterday.
Enjoy Bank Holiday Monday everyone xxx
Good morning Mick and everyone from gloomy rainy Carlisle. It's going to last most of the day I believe so has scuppered my thoughts of a drive out and maybe a visit to the garden centre. Yesterday was largely fine and sunny. I went for a walk round the country park after breakfast. There was new life out on the pond, baby mallards, coots and moorhens. The latter were tiny balls of black fluff probably only a day old but swimming vigorously and being fed by Mum/Dad.
Later, I was out in the garden re-locating some spent tulips and spent time reading the papers and a book.
Today, I might just as well get on with the housework and hope for better weather later in the week.
Happy birthday to you Corner.
And I hope your mother improves, Grandmabatty, and that you stay well.
The best possible day to you all.
Good morning all. The weather here is really beginning to depress me - although it did improve slightly so that the hills were visible first thing. But I honestly can't remember an April and May like this. It's so stupid to be like this because I usually live my life with the Serenity Prayer in mind! Anyway, suffice to say it's raining on the Angus coast!
Happy Birthday Cornergran. Have a lovely day.
So glad you are having such a lovely time with your Dublin family, baubles. DH used to visit Dublin a lot on business and loved it - he always said he wanted to take me there.
I think I'd get on with your neighbours grandmattie because my family are perfect too 😂. As my own life is so uneventful I tend to live my life through them. This weekend I have had a wonderful time dancing in a beautiful theatre in Estonia - the second performance was amazing! -
watching a pipe band on the Scottish west coast and enjoying the sunshine and warmth in a little village near Nottingham! All that and a coronation too!
Today is kitchen blitz day in my real life - I shall enjoy that once it's done!
Enjoy your Bank Holiday everyone x
