Good Morning Thursday 11th May 2023

Good morning from a dry Bristol. We’re due a dry day.
Yesterday,I’m rushed to hang the washing out to dry before the rain. It didn’t! The afternoon as wonderfully sunny.
Mick, I’m glad all the infusions, etc., are working and you seem well enough for surgery.
The warden came and was very defensive; I don’t think I was abrasive, just asking a lot of things and suggesting others. Like - there is a tiny totally enclosed square of grass under my kitchen window. I asked if the grass could be cut, but apparently the gardener can only get into it if a car isn’t parked nearby. I suggested that a bush should be removed for a) easy access to mow, b) for me to be able to use this piece of lawn… it seems too difficult to conceive. I suspect the gardener is a bit of a lazy bully. I also suspect I’m not sufficiently submissive.
The local vicar also called. He’s a friend of DD’s.
I filled my pots and bought some more plants. Half were flowers, the others were some runner beans and a couple of cherry tomato plants. I hope for a good harvest.

Good morning from a sunny South Downs - not sure how long it is going to last. The weathermen seem to find it very difficult to get right at the moment. It must mean that the weather is very volatile.

Took in a summers dress yesterday - which sounds impressive but in actual fact the sizes are very generous and I could not get a small er size. Now need my sewing machine back from its service.

Still weeding, planting and feeding - never ending this time of year. I also need to tackle a clematis Montana as it is far too overgrown.

Dog is sat staring at me - so must go
gm sounds like a jobsworth warden to me 😄 you do come across them occasionally.

It’s good news from the hospital, Mick, and having a definite date is helpful.

It sounds like you’re already making your mark, grandMattie, which is good news. The warden will respect your forthrightness, even if it is unfamiliar in most of the residents.

Today we await the arrival of a telephone engineer to sort out the failed internet service (again!) Meanwhile I’m on my second bolt-on to access extra data. Sigh.

Good morning Mick and everyone. All I can say is that it’s dry in Leicester at the moment! I quite enjoy the spring weather. I was out in the park with a friend yesterday and we just dodged a downpour.

Mick it’s all sounding much more positive.

Grandmattie, moving into the flat sounds as though it has been such a stressful experience. I’m sure that once you become settled with church activities etc you will find some inner peace.

I don`t blame the warden, she sounds very conscientious in keeping an eye on the people who live there, that is her brief. She does not yet know you gm and your capabilities and it will take time to reach an harmonious situation

All the leaves on my baby fig plant have been devoured by snails, now it is all twigs and I am disappointed

Morning all from a dry and bright looking West Oxfordshire. We are having a new bed delivered today. This is for the newly refurbished spare rooms. When that has happened I will pop round to a friend’s house with a card. Her husband died on Tuesday night. They had been married less than four years after both being widowed. This evening I am popping round to another friend’s house. Have a good day.

I had a hospital appointment yesterday where I got news of deterioration of a long term health condition.To be expected I suppose but upsetting.DH decided we needed cheering up so drove us to Liverpool to have our evening meal at our favourite Italian restaurant.We had a walk around the Eurovision village soaking up the atmosphere.Just what we needed.

Thinking of Grandmabatty💐and everybody else with family worries.

Morning Mick, morning All. Light cloud over our corner of Somerset.

Preparations finished yesterday today is day one of flooring installation. It will be good when it’s finished I’m sure! We noticed an unpleasant odour in an outside cupboard yesterday, best investigate today. Best guess it has become the final resting place for a small creature.

Sounds positive, mick. What a shame karmalady, it’s sadly a good year for snails and slugs. Things will settle I’m sure grandmattie, it sounds as if you will have a varied oasis with your pots.

Good morning all from a chilly Anstruther, only 7°C. However, I have given up trying so sleep after a restless night, for the sun is streaming in the window, which bodes well for the rest of the day.

Good news Mick, glad to hear your consultant is happier with you.
GM, I am sure things will settle down, it's early days yet. You may eventually find the warden is actually a nice person.

We had a lovely day yesterday in St Andrew's. We couldn't figure out which side of the road to get the bus, so we split up and stood on either side of the road. We asked a fisherman and he said even the locals don't know, because the route keeps changing! 🤣
Lunch was one of the best Indian meals, I have had. We ate there a few weeks ago when we were visiting Dollie and her parents.

I was allowed a little retail therapy and DD bought me a beautiful poncho for my forthcoming birthday. I also manged to locate a copy of The Owl, Who Was Afraid of the Dark, a classic I had read to my pupils many years ago. I also found a mini Scottie dog, a wee brother for Dollie's toy Scottie dog, her daddy brought back from a previous golfing trip to St. Andrew's.
The assistant tried to give me a lesson on how to read a book with a child of a high reading age. She was quite patronising. I listened politely, until I eventually I decided to inform her that I had written a thesis on the development of reading skills. 😉

Unfortunately, I had a wee blip in the bus station, when I had a vertigo episode, but it eventually passed. I think I had overdone things a bit, but I don't want to spoil things for my family, so kept stumm.
We found the wait in the bus station very entertaining. There were a number of American tourists, who wanted to get back to Edinbro'. Despite the advice of the bus station manager, that they needed the X59, they boarded the X58 and X60 buses, refusing to believe it would not take them to Edinburgh. The buses were held up, because they were standing on the steps and in the bus bays, insisting on a discussion with the increasingly irritated drivers, who had a tight timetable. The locals waiting to board, were not amused. DD, on the other hand, found it highly amusing.
Eventually, much to the embarrassment of my family, I stuck my nose in intervened and informed them they •needed the X60* How do you know that?, asked the very rude gentleman, Because I heard the manager telling you, you needed to board the X59 and it comes in at 15.20. Its only 15.10 just now!
They then got off the our bus! DD was mortified!

Today, we plan to walk along the coastal path to Pittenweem. Well, they others will walk and I will probably get the bus. I'm struggling a bit. Parking is so difficult here, even off season, once our cars are parked, we don't move them.

The rain will, obviously, hold off until I leave the hairdresser's. We also have a Sainsbury's delivery later.

DH is also having his hair cut today.
He has an appointment for his Covid booster this afternoon - I am, obviously, far too young to be eligible.

Susan, its so difficult for our partners, when they get news like that about us. We try to be strong for them, when we are upset ourselves 💐

Yesterday was busy. I visited mum three times which isn't sustainable but the second visit coincided with coffee with my aunt and uncle. Last night mum was much more like herself, making jokes, chatting away and arguing with me. She's convinced she'll be home by the weekend though. 🙄 Given that she's flat on her back and complains when the nurses raise her bed and can't stand, that'll not be happening. However, it was good to see her feisty self return. She had been for an MRI late afternoon so the test results should be back soon. I did get soaked on a couple of occasions as there were frequent really thundery type showers. Dd and sil popped in to steal my KitchenAid so we had a chat. Marydoll no appointment yet. I did phone the surgery and they said someone would call me back, however that hadn't happened yet. There's no signal at the hospital inside the building so that might account for radio silence. I'll try again today.
Today is busy but in a different way. I have art class this morning and I'm looking forward to it. I'm starting a painting/pastel work of orange oriental poppies based on Georgia O'Keeffe's work. Today I'll spend sketching and planning. Then I'll leave early to visit mum about one and hopefully find out results. After that, I'm going to a friend's house for coffee and a chat. Possibly omelette for dinner minus the portion of airfryer chips. Have a good day all

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another warm day with on and off sun and showers. It held off yesterday until the evening and then chucked it down.
Housework and shopping today. I need to decide what we shall eat and whether or not to hang the washing out....not good for a ditherer.

Good morning all and it’s fine at the moment here in Essex.

What a nit wit I felt yesterday! 😕. I walked up to town after Mass with my trusty trolly , did a large shop in Iceland , queued up to pay (it was busy) , packed my trolly and …..duh, duh, duh! , I’d left my bank card at home.!
I left my trolly there and walked home, had a quick coffee and got the bus back up those dreaded hills (couldn’t face the walk again), paid for my shopping and walked /ran back down those hills, with my loaded trolley nipping at my heels. Boy did I feel stupid! 🥵.

Today I have Bowls club and then will pop to DD’s. She still suffering withdrawal symptoms. She messaged to say little DGD has lots of tiny warts on her body, so she’s trying to get an appointment with the doc. I remember one of the twin boys had them. They went as fast as they came. 🤞.

Marydoll your holiday sounds lovely.
GM stick to your guns. The warden is probably used to bossing others around. She’ll soon find out you are no pushover!

Had a dreadful night with hip pain and more horrible dreams.
Dd3 and DGS3 will be here for a short visit after the school run. I will then get some materials together for a craft project. Also have some knitted prem. baby sets to finish off.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Glad things are looking up for your surgery Mick. Rather damp in South Yorkshire today. We had torrential rain yesterday while I was in the library. Glad I was watching it through a window! I have a chiropodist visiting this morning so I shall miss the walking group. I shall be very glad when I can cut my own toenails again. If it stays dry this afternoon I will endeavour to get some of my new plants into the ground. They are not going to go very far stuck on the garden table! I noticed yesterday that the plum tree is setting fruit. That doesn’t mean that we will actually get any - they all drop off before they are ripe, but at least it’s making an effort!

Unusual day for me today, I’m going to help on a church outing to a lovely quiet ‘Grotto’, well known in Lanarkshire but probably not any further afield. It’s beautifully calm area and we’ll have mass followed by afternoon tea so here’s hoping for a dry afternoon! Tea is in a hall fortunately.

DH's twin DGC are 6 today, we will be visiting them after school. I remember the day they were born and laying in the same cot in the hospital.
