Good Morning from a wet Co Armagh , bit of a let down after a nice morning yesterday
We had a very interesting talk at the Village club , about girls from Irish workhouses being sent to Australia in the late 18 hundreds , shades of the Ten Pound Poms in the 50s
Nowadays youngsters go backpacking all over the world and keep in touch with mobile phones .
Most of those girls spoke Irish and were illiterate, so few were ever heard of again
My eldest Grandson is thinking of taking off , much to all our dismay , he is such a sweet lad , we will miss him

Good morning all from sunny Lancashire. We have had a lot of rain overnight so everywhere is looking green and fresh.

We are off out to a local farm shop for some goodies shortly. I hope everyone has a good day, will catch up later.

Good morning from the south coast where I am keeping an eye on the weather. Having had a lot of weeds removed last week, I am trying to create a woodland type of garden in a large bed. I saw something similar at a National Trust garden so I Am trying to copy it. So far, I have used 9 bags of 70 litres of bark with 6 more to lay today. I’m trying to make a defined pathway between shrubs and roses. My hope is that I won’t have to have the gardener so often as it’s so expensive.
I must also put the vacuum round and tackle a big basket of ironing. That’s my day (and May run into evening) sorted.

GM glad you have got settled in at long last. Warder might prove useful in future and from our experience at MILs retirement flat they were really good and did their best to help.

Then I. The afternoon I have to accompany my DHon a hospital appointment where we could be for3 hours. This will be cutting it fine for zooming tonight

I do think the Warden is doing her job gM from the years of experience with mum its the ones that don't visit and chat who are a nuisance. I bet she is used to forthright elderly ladies! they are everywhere.

Good morning, it was a sunny start in Wiltshire but it’s clouded over. The sun felt really quite warm on our early morning dog walk, what a lovely change from the miserable days we’ve had recently.
Just enjoying a coffee before sorting out my summer clothes; there will be plenty for the charity shop as I’m having a radical clear out again. I have far too many clothes and probably only wear less than a fifth of them 🫣
Hoping it doesn’t rain because I have hung out the washing……

Good morning all from Perthshire where I stayed overnight at DD's with the DGDs. Sunny at the moment, but a lot of rain clouds scudding across the sky. Some of the downpours yesterday were horrendous.
DD is slowly moving forward with the insurers after her car was written off and now has a hire car arranged for this weekend, so she can at last come home. Luckily she works from 'home' (wherever that may be!) so doesn't have to stress about that.
But the problems kept coming yesterday. She took DGD to the station to catch a train north so that she could get back to College, but there was an accident on the motorway and they got to the station just as her train was leaving! No problem - she got the next one and I met her at the station just an
hour later than planned. We got to DD's where she loaded her stuff into her little car - only to find it wouldn't move!! I think because of all the damp weather while it had been sitting idle, the brakes had seized up and she just had to move it backwards and forwards a few times (knowledge gained on my part after 60+ years of driving 😉) and she was off! That was almost the straw that broke the camel's back for her, so let's hope that's the last in this particular chapter of accidents.
Susan I'm so sorry your news wasn't good .
Glad your mum is showing a return to her old self Grandmabatty, and I hope you get that call from your doctor soon about yourself. Grandmattie I had no idea wardens were quite so pro-active in sheltered housing -,though on reflection I suppose they do need to get to know the residents. I hope it all settles down soon for you.

Glad you sorted those pesky American tourists out yesterday Marydoll - and enjoyed your visit to St Andrews. You're really in my old stomping ground - I both went to school there and taught there. A place of fond memories. In those 'olden' days the uni students all wore their red gowns all the time (over both shoulders in first year, off one shoulder the next,, off the second shoulder in third and thereafter trailing half way down their backs.) They all cycled everywhere and the streets were awash with flying red gowns as they sped between classes. The town belonged to them! Enjoy the rest of your stay.
Today I shall wend my way back home. Oh I nearly forgot - the long-running saga of the problem with my hearing aids was (🤞) resolved yesterday while I was in Perth. That was my original reason for being there before all the drama started!

I had a thorough prune at the hairdresser's yesterday, I've lost the batty old lady look! She cut it a bit shorter than usual as it grows so fast. I did also have a wander through M&S but wasn't tempted. I don't need anything really, my storage overfloweth already.
I sorted out more paperwork once at home, more shredding ensued.
Today, ironing and, hopefully, mow the lawn if it stays dry. I've let it get longer than usual in the hopes it will beef up a bit. A bit more re-seeding may be on the cards.

Good morning all from a,so far,sunny Suffolk. The torrential rain of Tuesday meant that the lanes around here were badly flooded but thankfully nothing like the flooding in some parts of the country. Such weather always brings complaints from locals that farmers don’t look after their ditches like they used to do!

Off to my stretch class shortly and then I have a parcel to collect from the town which will inevitably involve coffee and cake in one of the lovely bakeries there.

Thinking of those struggling at the moment and hoping for a pleasant day for all.

DH's twin DGC are 6 today, we will be visiting them after school. I remember the day they were born and laying in the same cot in the hospital.

Unusual day for me today, I’m going to help on a church outing to a lovely quiet ‘Grotto’, well known in Lanarkshire but probably not any further afield. It’s beautifully calm area and we’ll have mass followed by afternoon tea so here’s hoping for a dry afternoon! Tea is in a hall fortunately.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Glad things are looking up for your surgery Mick. Rather damp in South Yorkshire today. We had torrential rain yesterday while I was in the library. Glad I was watching it through a window! I have a chiropodist visiting this morning so I shall miss the walking group. I shall be very glad when I can cut my own toenails again. If it stays dry this afternoon I will endeavour to get some of my new plants into the ground. They are not going to go very far stuck on the garden table! I noticed yesterday that the plum tree is setting fruit. That doesn’t mean that we will actually get any - they all drop off before they are ripe, but at least it’s making an effort!

Had a dreadful night with hip pain and more horrible dreams.
Dd3 and DGS3 will be here for a short visit after the school run. I will then get some materials together for a craft project. Also have some knitted prem. baby sets to finish off.

Good morning all and it’s fine at the moment here in Essex.

What a nit wit I felt yesterday! 😕. I walked up to town after Mass with my trusty trolly , did a large shop in Iceland , queued up to pay (it was busy) , packed my trolly and …..duh, duh, duh! , I’d left my bank card at home.!
I left my trolly there and walked home, had a quick coffee and got the bus back up those dreaded hills (couldn’t face the walk again), paid for my shopping and walked /ran back down those hills, with my loaded trolley nipping at my heels. Boy did I feel stupid! 🥵.

Today I have Bowls club and then will pop to DD’s. She still suffering withdrawal symptoms. She messaged to say little DGD has lots of tiny warts on her body, so she’s trying to get an appointment with the doc. I remember one of the twin boys had them. They went as fast as they came. 🤞.

Marydoll your holiday sounds lovely.
GM stick to your guns. The warden is probably used to bossing others around. She’ll soon find out you are no pushover!

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another warm day with on and off sun and showers. It held off yesterday until the evening and then chucked it down.
Housework and shopping today. I need to decide what we shall eat and whether or not to hang the washing out....not good for a ditherer.

Yesterday was busy. I visited mum three times which isn't sustainable but the second visit coincided with coffee with my aunt and uncle. Last night mum was much more like herself, making jokes, chatting away and arguing with me. She's convinced she'll be home by the weekend though. 🙄 Given that she's flat on her back and complains when the nurses raise her bed and can't stand, that'll not be happening. However, it was good to see her feisty self return. She had been for an MRI late afternoon so the test results should be back soon. I did get soaked on a couple of occasions as there were frequent really thundery type showers. Dd and sil popped in to steal my KitchenAid so we had a chat. Marydoll no appointment yet. I did phone the surgery and they said someone would call me back, however that hadn't happened yet. There's no signal at the hospital inside the building so that might account for radio silence. I'll try again today.
Today is busy but in a different way. I have art class this morning and I'm looking forward to it. I'm starting a painting/pastel work of orange oriental poppies based on Georgia O'Keeffe's work. Today I'll spend sketching and planning. Then I'll leave early to visit mum about one and hopefully find out results. After that, I'm going to a friend's house for coffee and a chat. Possibly omelette for dinner minus the portion of airfryer chips. Have a good day all
