Good Morning Everyone,
Looking a dull grey sky this morning but dry here in brackley .
Yesterday , a day of hell on the roads , roadworks plus temp lights etc and accidents causing diversions .
I also have got my surgery date for next month so will be relaxing and enjoying things while I have a chance .
Today , do I stay in and watch the Giro , a race marred by weather conditions such ice, snow and rain in Italy .
Or do I do my usual routine and go out?
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Michael! Decisions, decisions, eh?!! Great pity about your racing cancellations but even worse the reasons for it. Poor old Italy has really taken a hit. SO sad. I've a lovely day ahead first lunching with a friend and then later picking one of my sons up off a train. Haven't seen him in the flesh for ages but we communicate regularly. All good and decidedly yippee! Hope everyone who follows has an equally happy heart.

Ashcombe Fri 19-May-23 06:04:14

Good morning from a sunny Sarthe for my 73rd birthday!

I’m glad you have a date for your surgery, Mick and hope you stay well for the next few weeks.

Another sunny day yesterday saw us enjoying the garden, where our gardener was cleaning out pots to fill with some colourful plants. In the evening I could still hear birdsong at 10.00 pm as I closed the volets.

No plans to celebrate - not really up to eating out although our coughing is much less frequent and severe. DH has suggested a drive round some of the country lanes which appeals.

Wishing you all a good day with sunshine to lift spirits. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

BlueBalou Fri 19-May-23 06:26:40

Good morning, it’s a bit cloudy here in Wiltshire after yesterday’s sunshine.
DH spent yesterday afternoon sorting the edges of the front lawns, over the years the borders have got wider and wider but now I want them reduced so there’s less gardening. There will still be plenty of growing space!
DS and family are coming down at half term, it will be so lovely seeing them again, the boys are growing up very quickly.
Dgs1 (10) was telling me all about a long cycling trip he and DS will do next summer, crossing from Austria into Italy, his first ‘proper’ one, very excited about it bless him 😊
Dgs2 is very proud of his missing front (baby) teeth, apparently both accidentally knocked out by his brother? They were luckily already wobbly……
Hoping for sunshine for us all x.

karmalady Fri 19-May-23 06:27:20

good morning and it will be another lovely sunny day today

I intend to take full advantage of the present perfect weather, warm enough in my sheltered garden to be out there all day. I felt as though I was on holiday yesterday.

The same today but cycling first this morning, for the exercise

Happy birthday Ash

A good day to everyone

grandMattie Fri 19-May-23 06:41:38

Golly, is that the time? I have only just woken up! Normally I wait for Mick to open up…
Good morning from Bristol. It is a glorious day, clear, sunny and mild. Summer is at last on its way.
The hairdresser proved very good; I’m happy with the cut. It was far more than I have been paying, but not more than I expected.
I usually spend Thursday evening at DD’s. Last night , there was a jazz concert at Portishead given by DSiL’s big band. Very loud, but excellent. We only stayed for the first half as the girls were with us.
Today is DD’s day off and ATM she spends some of it with me, helping put things together etc. Today, we shall attempt the bed for DS if we have the right tools. I have no idea where mine are at present.
I also have to go to Waitrose to see if they have the squash plants that DSiL would like.
Holding all with troubles in my heart, especially our own Urms and family. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️

Grandmachrisy47 Fri 19-May-23 06:41:42

Morning from a dull Co Durham.
Yesterday a slightly poorly dgd was dropped here to stay instead of school. Nothing got done 😀 but we had a nice quiet time. Took her home (lives only 15 minutes away) when DD2 finished work. Then back to ours for my Pilates class. Phew !!
Happy birthday Ash 💐🎂. Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I’ll come back later to read all your posts.

BlueSapphire Fri 19-May-23 06:52:38

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton; showers forecast later this morning; I know I should have cut the grass yesterday!

Attended a very interesting talk yesterday afternoon about the various things that happen to our eyes as we get older; care and treatments available. The over-riding advice though, was to visit your optometrist regularly (which I do, having an automatic call-up every year).
Afterwards I visited the library, and came out with three books - as if I haven't got enough to read at home! I did manage to finish my book club book yesterday when I got home.

My usual shop outing this morning, with coffee and a bite to eat in M&S.

Good wishes to all for today, and especially to Ash for her birthday 🎂 flowerscupcakewine.

Morning Mick, morning All. Another fine, dry day ahead.

Thoroughly enjoyed the butterflies yesterday. All very active and whizzing past our noses. Spent a long while popping in and out, the humidity drove us outside for air several times. Another wander out today, a city beckons.

A very happy birthday ash, nothing wrong with a quiet day. Hope the bed building goes well grandmattie. Good news about the surgery date mick, please don’t overdo things between now and then.

Take care everyone. Hope Friday is kind to us all.

brook2704 Fri 19-May-23 06:58:06

Good morning everyone from a slightly grey Cambridge but very mild. Hopefully the sun will show up later
A very Happy Birthday Ash enjoy your special day whatever you do! 💐🥂🎉🎂
The DGSs will be up very soon, I’ll get them breakfasted and off to school and then have another day to myself. Sil is due home mid afternoon and DD1 this evening so lots of time to tidy up!
Hope your DGD feels better soon grandmachrisy
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Wyllow3 Fri 19-May-23 06:58:28

Good Morning from an overcast S Yorks where rain s expected, which is a shame as I was due to meet a friend in the Botanical Gardens for a walk around, but it will be a cafe unless rain doesn't materialise.

Have a lovely birthday Ash.

Bests for poorlies and have good family times and outings..

Susan56 Fri 19-May-23 06:58:55

Good morning from Shropshire.

Happy birthday Ash.Enjoy your day🍾🥂🎂

Yesterday was a quiet day.H enjoyed playing in the garden and spent a happy hour looking for bugs.

We had the good news that DD has a new job.We are so relieved and thankful.

Today I have a drs appointment at 9 then lots of things to do in town.

Thinking of Urms and family.

Have the best day you can everyone 🦩

Morning all from Kew. I’m going home today so I hope the M4 isn’t too hideous! I’m taking granddaughter to school and when her mum is back from her morning classes will leap in my car and set off. I’ve had a lovely time but my stays here are never usually more than two or three nights at the most. I am seeing my friend who misbehaves in restaurants for lunch tomorrow and will be feeding a friend’s fish for a week. Have a good day everyone - it sooks like summer is on its way at last.

kittylester Fri 19-May-23 07:06:06

Good morning all from a slightly misty North Leicestershire.

I'm helping on a dementia pre diagnosis course today and calling at Waitrose on the way home.

DGS, who started his GCSEs on Monday, broke one of the fingers on his writing hand playing football at lunchtime. shock

Had a lovely catch up with a fellow Leicestershure gransnetter yesterday - we need to meet more regularly as we hadn't finished chatting when they threw us out of the cafe.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Beechnut Fri 19-May-23 07:07:34

Good Morning everyone and Happy Birthday to you Ashcombe 🎂🎉🍸

I’ll do a little gardening when I’ve finished my breakfast and then I’d like to go out and get some more plant supports. It’s that time of year when my peonies come into flower, it usually rains and flattens them. I want to be ahead for once.

I see we have some pleasant days ahead so enjoy the sunshine all 🌞💐

monk08 Fri 19-May-23 07:18:58

Good morning all from a bright Black country.
Happy birthday Ash enjoy your day 🎂🥂💐.
Glad you was happy with your haircut GM
No plans for the day but we are over to our friends in Redditch later, we have been seeing each other most weeks now for nearly 50yrs
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

loopyloo Fri 19-May-23 07:22:08

Happy Birthday, Ash.
Today, going to take the dog on a bus, to see how he copes and to get to the dog groomers for him to have his claws trimmed.
Very exciting.
Then hairdressers for me this afternoon.
Not so exciting.
Have a great day.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 19-May-23 07:29:34

Morning all

Happy Birthday Ashcombe 🎂🌸🍾🥂

Not sure whether or not to go to the gym this first thing, I need to go food shopping and do not fancy doing that with The Imp sitting in the trolley 🤣🛒

Off to local Indian restaurant this evening.

(((Hugs))) to all in need

Have your best day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Kitty my DS broke his scaphoid bone on his writing hand and was in plaster during his A levels, someone had to do the writing for him while he dictated.

Grandmabatty Fri 19-May-23 07:42:56

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and sunny again. It's so nice to have a run of good weather. Ash a very happy birthday to you.
Yesterday I enjoyed art class very much. I took my time with the underpainting as normally I hash on. Too impatient! Then visited mum. She has deteriorated quite quickly and I was shocked to see her. I'm not impressed with the ward at all. The healthcare workers who were feeding her bits of sandwich were chewing gum which I found to be unprofessional. Then they didn't use the name she's called, despite it being clearly written on the board. My aunt and uncle also noticed a big change. I think she's given up which is sad but not unexpected.
Today I have a good shop to do. Then I'm meeting a couple of friends for coffee. After that, I'll visit mum and try to find someone who can tell me what's going on. Have a good day all

Good morning all and it’s not too bright here on the Suffolk coast. Lovely yesterday but that wind off the sea makes it so chilly in the afternoons.

Our friends came for drinks and an evening meal and it was lovely seeing them. They are off back to Essex today but we don’t live far from them and will see them often. They’ve had an enjoyable week. We always spent caravan holidays here together with others . Lots of children and happy family times.

Today we are going for coffee to our old neighbour. She bought my SIL’s bungalow when she died 2 years ago. It will be strange going into the house without SIL opening the door to us. 😢.

This evening I’m off to the cinema with my next door neighbour.Book Club 2. Hasn’t got great reviews but we just like going!

Happy birthday Ash. Enjoy it whatever you do.🎂🍹.
You are a couple of months ahead of me. 1950 was a good year! 👍.
Safe journey back from Kew Ladyleftfielder.

Have a lovely day all ☀️

Greyduster Fri 19-May-23 07:56:15

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Wyllow has our weather spot on. I had a wonderful ramble round the woods with the walking group yesterday, and then after lunch with DD, spent the afternoon doing a horrible job in the front garden which was so exhausting I didn’t even have the energy to cook my evening meal. The fact that I couldn’t face doing anything with the garden last year is coming back to haunt me. Today is housework, and some writing if I get round to it.
Kitty what a thing to happen! Poor chap! GS is also doing his GCSE’s this week and my mind has been full of “what if’s”.
A very Happy Birthday to you, Ash💐🎁🎂. A drive round country lanes sounds just the ticket.
Have a happy day, folks.

Liberty Fri 19-May-23 07:59:12

Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk where we are promised sun later. Yesterday was glorious and so warm I had to hunt for sun screen.

Meeting a friend for coffee this morning. We have decided to go to a very out of the way cafe which has a lovely outdoor space. After that,I suspect a huge pile of ironing will just have to be attended to.

Hope those with health or other worries find some solace and those celebrating have a great day.

Pittcity Fri 19-May-23 08:02:39

Good morning from an overcast but mild Colchester. The sun is due later.
It sounds like roadworks have started up nearby. What with that and builders next door but one it'll be a noisy day.
Yesterday evening was eventful when our neighbours opposite were burgled by a couple who walked bold as brass in through the back door and swiped a purse and some food. The neighbour came over to see if our doorbell had recorded anything as did the police later. A lot of people round here use their back gate and door instead of the front door. We keep our gate locked and use the front.

A bit of shopping and general faffing today.

Happy birthdayAsh 🎁🎈
Love to all 🦩 x

Marydoll Fri 19-May-23 08:03:29

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 11°C.

Happy birthday, Ash, I hope you have a lovely day.

Lots of poorly DGC, I hope they are on the mend soon. I know how exhausting it can be and we are not spring chuckens. 😉.

My own plans to gallivant today have been cancelled, I'm not doing so well, Side effects of Covid booster are compounding things, so a day in bed ahead.
My GP was so supportive yesterday, but was at a loss as how to improve my quality of life. 😔 Not unexpected.
As you have all being advising, which I have stubbornly ignored, I must spend more time doing absolutely zilch, including having duvet days!!! Lazing about is not in my make up and there is much needing to be done in the garden.
She kindly advised me that I am my own worst enemy.😚 You knew that anyway

The house is reeking of garlic, after buying wild garlic plants for DD ( to save her being arrested for picking it in the wild) on the advice of a gransnetter.
They were rather wilted, so I left them soaking overnight in water to try and revive them. Somehow, I managed to put a random Paisley post code on them, when I have a Glasgow one. They have been round various sorting offices! 🤭

Good luck with medical appointments (a shout out to Mizuna and all the busyness today.
Enjoy your day folks.
