Oh, Foxy have a moan about your PF! I’ve got it too and it hurts.

Baggs Mon 24-Jul-23 15:33:58

Thank you, everyone, for the kind replies to my little outburst. BTDD is so stoical and matter of fact about it all, as is her partner, that I feel guilty giving in to despondency. But the tears come and they must flow.

Foxy, a Scottish dancing friend I had in Oxford had PF when she was quite young and it made her very miserable to be prevented from dancing. I hope you get some ease.

Good afternoon kitcheners. Well, back to childcare with a vengeance. Both boys were very good today. Soft play this morning tired them out and dgs2 had a two and a half hour nap this afternoon while dgs1 cooried in with me on the couch and had a quiet time. I'm making chicken curry for dinner in a while after I tidy the mayhem. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Well never listen to weather forecasts.
My D and I have had a lovely day in Llandudno with sun and blue skies all day.
We had coffee sitting on the end of the pier and a trip round the Great Orme by a land train which was great fun.
After eating a hot dog !!! Outside we made our way to M&S and bought lovely food for the next two nights.
Our location is not conducive to travelling to eat out sadly but we aren’t at all bothered as we don’t have to get changed and comb our hair.
We shall be eating very well.
Have the best evening you can everyone and sincere good wishes to all who really need them.

I’m more than pleased you’re enjoying your holiday ann. May the sun keep shining.

brook2704 Mon 24-Jul-23 18:41:23

So pleased to hear you’re having such a lovely holiday ann, your day sounds just perfect. Good that you’ve got done lovely M&S food to enjoy in the comfort of your cottage later without having to go out
I’ve had a busy morning at the gym and then a trip to Aldi. But I’ve done zilch this afternoon- it’s been cold here so after the gym I sat on the sofa and nodded off … probably won’t sleep tonight now
Pleased your day has gone well grandmabatty, you’ll de needing a rest too!
Baggs ❤️

Jaxjacky Mon 24-Jul-23 18:50:06

Sounds like a lovely time ann.
Feet up Grandmabatty enjoy your curry.
Anytime Baggs anytime x
Voluntary phones today, just finished sorting out, quick walk earlier between showers, it’s so dark and dreary.
Daughter and children called in, they’ve booked to Menorca in a couple of weeks, first holiday abroad together 🤞.
Quiz later, enjoy your evening.

Good evening Kitcheners.
I feel SO much happier now I have completed my Speed Awareness course which I was frankly dreading!
I did it online, on Teams, which was a nightmare in itself as I could not see how to download the App on the “big” Mac without parting with (more) money but I could do it on my my iPad so I went for that but found myself running out of battery and I spent the last fifteen minutes holding the charger into the tablet socket!
The Course leader was really nice and I can honestly say I learnt a lot and was made aware of how I can improve both my technique and approach to driving in the future. Hint - address complacency and lack of concentration on those familiar “popping out to the shops” types of journey.
Anyway LSS it’s done.
Now all I need is a course on how to avoid ramp barriers in multi storey car parks and I’m sorted!
Not having a lot of luck with cats these days I fear.
Thank you for PF good wishes, today my foot feels easier but I have hardly been out so perhaps the rest has been beneficial. Or the Amitriptilyne (which I would prefer not to continue with) or the Naproxen, likewise. I just don’t know.
I realise the last couple of days have been particularly hard for many of you , warmest wishes to you all and my hopes and prayers for respite or peace of mind TOYA

Hello everyone. 🌺🌹💐 to all of you who’ve had a difficult day. I mainly did a weekly shop and laundry. I also made one of those Middle Eastern style cakes where satsumas (or more usually lemons) are boiled for an hour or so until they are very soft. Whizzed up in the food processor until a puree and then ground almonds, egg and sugar are added. I might decorate with chocolate ganache so it resembles a Jaffa cake. The cats are hovering near to me because they know it’s nearly dinner time! Have a good rest of the evening.

Blossoming Mon 24-Jul-23 22:19:57

Good evening dear Kitcheners. Today has been sunny but not hot. I have had a productive day, laundry done and hung out to dry, a huge pile of documents checked and shredded and I can once again see my office carpet grin

I also made a slow cooker chicken curry, with some trepidation after recent problems. We had with some pitta bread and it was so delicious. My stomach is fine so far. I haven’t been enjoying food recently, I love hot and spicy foods and was beginning to think I might have to go without.

I’m exhausted now so off to bed. Sleep well all 💤

Catterygirl Mon 24-Jul-23 23:42:35

What a lovely post this is. Sleep well everyone.

The news of my beloved Corfu is awful. They always have forest fires but this one seems really bad.Thinking of all the local people and the poor animals so many cats and dogs and chained dogs guarding property will perish.
Was typing this last night but fell 😴 Have a good day everyone.

dragonfly46 Tue 25-Jul-23 06:53:52

I too popped into the kitchen as so many of you are in need of hugs right now. I am sending you all my thoughts and best wishes.

kittylester Tue 25-Jul-23 07:15:20

Hi dragonfly, hope you are OK.

I have had 3 Speed Awareness Courses, foxy - don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed!!

brook2704 Tue 25-Jul-23 13:00:02

I’ve not had to do a speed awareness course yet, but there’s still time! So pleased you’ve got yours over with now foxy
Talking about online things, DH has his 6 weeks post op call later today by an NHS video call, I’ll have to loan him my iPad and get it set up for him. He’s not that tech savvy and leaves it all to me 🙄
It’s dreadful about all the forest fires Yia, it’s bad enough for tourists but so much worse for the local people who could lose everything. My heart goes out to them

soop Tue 25-Jul-23 13:51:24

Catterygirl Yes. In my humble opinion, thanks to you lovely lot the kitchen is one of the most supportive forums on Gransnet.

Gentle hugs for Baggs together with every Granspal in need of comfort.

I spent several hours yesterday removing every item of clothing from my wardrobe and drawers that, due to the size of the parastomal hernia, no longer fit. Mr Soop will drop off four bags of clothing at the Salvation Army collection point. There will be many other garments to donate to the Res Cross shop. I am comforted by the thought that money raised will help a very good cause.

Now it is time for an afternoon of ironing. Oh let joy be unconfined. wink

Earlier I took a photo of a sweet bird sitting on the garden bench and peering through the window. I hope that it makes you smile.

Be kind to yourselves. smile

Jaxjacky Tue 25-Jul-23 17:00:29

I’ve never had a Speed Awareness Course and am feeling left out!
I’ve been in all day awaiting an Amazon delivery, normally I’m happy for them to leave whatever tat I’ve ordered out near the front door, but this is a Firestick, so a few ££’s. It came a few minutes ago, now figuring out how to connect its remote controller to Alexa, tonight’s entertainment.
I’ve picked my first greenhouse tomato, washing outside has dried, indoor not yet, there was a risk of showers.
MrJ, as he’s been on the 🍺 all weekend, I mean visiting his family, is cooking sausages tonight, one of his two signature dishes.
Enjoy your evening.

annsixty Tue 25-Jul-23 17:03:01

My D and I are just back at our holiday home after another lovely sunny day here in North Wales.
For those who don’t know it, it really is such a beautiful area.
I have been visiting old haunts from the days when my H and I had a caravan here.
So much has changed at the actual coast with much being an improvement.
Colwyn through-to Rhos on Sea is having a promenade constructed, it will be a lovely walk by the sea.
I so want to tell my H about it….
M&S Fish pie for dinner with a glass of something white and chilled, I am on holiday after all.

Grandmabatty Tue 25-Jul-23 17:35:12

Good afternoon kitcheners. I have never had to do a speed awareness course, but I was stopped for speeding by an ex pupil and got away with a warning because I told him I had had a parents night and I was bursting for the loo! Both were true.
Boys are deposited back home and I'm sitting on the couch looking at the shambles which is my living room. It'll tidy up quickly. I'm going to visit mum before I have dinner, so I might do a little tidying before I go. I need to restock the kitchen cupboards because dgs2 has emptied them. He enjoys doing it and I put up with it because he will grow out of it. Today has been a good day. Take care all

Grandmabatty Tue 25-Jul-23 17:36:22

Annsixty we went to Colwyn Bay twice when the kids were small and really liked it. I'm glad you had a good time

gillgran Tue 25-Jul-23 18:42:44

That's a lovely photo of the sweet bird, soop, thank you. Great to have something to smile at. smile.

Your holiday sounds good for you & your daughter, annsixty, I'm pleased that you are enjoying it.

I've not had to do a speed awareness course, (yet!), but my DH has. ( I do tell him that it's the speed limits, not the target to beat. hmm......

Warm thoughts for you all, especially Urms, Baggs, Kalu, & others with extra worries. flowers.
