Good Morning Friday 2nd June 2023
(50 Posts)Morning Mick and those following.
More planting out yesterday in the sun. Today sorting out of winter togs to put away, Tesco delivery this afternoon and a chicken curry to make.
Enjoy your day 🦩🦩
Good morning from an overcast Bristol. There seems to be a pattern. The day starts grey, chilly and breezy, then morphs into a glorious, warm afternoon and evening.
I had a very busy day yesterday. Having established what DS’s plans were,I called the Salvation Army to see if they would have my large dark furniture? Yes, they would. Collect? Yes. On Wednesday… so I then ordered replacement stuff from IKEA to arrive the day before.
I sorted out my electricity with help from a delightful and helpful young woman.
DS took me to a walk-in covid clinic for my booster (sore arm now) then he took me to IKEA to choose a small dining table and chairs. In return, I gave him an enormous sirloin steak. He eat no beef in India; the rare steaks he has are buffalo meat.
Quiet day today, probably nurse my sore arm.
Ekwa, the inmates here are mostly widows, one has been here for 30 years! I think there are about 3 couple, two men with demented wives in homes, but I’ve only seen about 4 men out of some 30 apartments… spoken to only one male near neighbour.
Hope you all have a Good Friday. Carpe diem 🦩🦩❤️🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from a cloudy South Downs.
Still pottering in the garden, cutting back and tidying spring away, and supporting and feeding summer.
Sad to see a very thin fox yesterday with a nasty limp. They have such very difficult lives, evidenced by the fact that they live such short lives of barely 2 years. I put left over food/bones out which disappears overnight just to try to help. No animal deserves to suffer.
I am hopeful that this wretched wind will go back from whence it came in the near future and we can all begin to enjoy summer.
Enjoy your day one and all.
Good morning from a dull start in mid Devon with sunshine promised later.
I did my Winter➡️Summer clothes swap on Monday, Jaxjacky. Good luck with yours! A job I dread but having DH here for the lifting helped. There's a useful cupboard in my bathroom for storage but long arms are needed! I call it The Priests’ Hole because it could accommodate a person wishing to hide from the Roundheads!
That must be a relief, grandMattie to have found a willing recipient for your furniture. Now you can enjoy choosing items to fit your new home.
We’re staying on site today as the entrance is closed from 10.30 a.m. for four hours whilst maintenance is carried out. I shall probably wash the nets. (yawn!)
DH has just made me laugh - he’s just attempted to don my fleecy pyjama top which he lifted from the airer at home, thinking it was one of his fleeces! Should I be worried?!
I hope all of you find a reason to smile today. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Enjoyed your story about DH cross dressing, Ash!
I enjoyed the logo on a bakery van yesterday morning - “Clint Yeatwood”. 😂
Specsavers Ashcombe? 🙂
Thanks, ladies!! 🤣
Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.
More volunteering for me today - this time with Carers whose partners have a diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment. Yesterday we had a natter day at the Memory Cafe which flagged up quite a few people who are struggling with various things.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Feels chilly but it's early yet.
My visitors leave today (nice but long enough!) and I am taking the day off work and going to a yarn fair.
The funeral plans are taking shape for DMiL. It's still a way off.
Have the best day you can.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 10°C.
I'm another, who was sorting out summer clothes. Unfortunately, half them no longer fit me. 😞 My reduced mobility has meant an unwanted weight gain. Some lucky person will get a few good bargains, because I am being ruthless and they will be going to the charity shop, How on earth did I accumulate so much stuff?
Many items were a result of my sorties in my beloved Rome. Happy days!
DH is golfing today and I have a telephone rheumatology appointment this morning with my consultant. I am hoping that he will have some suggestions about my very painful joints. If I had been at the clinic, I may have been offered a steroid injection of Kennilog, but he has been reluctant to prescribe steroids due to me being immunocompromised and Covid still being about. He is running out of medication options and is considering putting me back on a new biologic medication, now the other one is out my system. I'm in two minds, because it took me six months the last time to get used to it and the side effects were horrendous.
I will have to do a supermarket shop after that. I like to go out when its quiet, crowded places still unsettle me, but not possible today. Sainsbury's is usually crowded with, indecisive, elderly couples, with all the time in the world, who block the aisles chatting to friends and stand side by side, in front of the shelves with their trolleys, refusing to allow anyone near the products. I have become agist and impatient. Of course I would never behave like that. 😉
Wishing you all a pleasant day and envying those, who have a great deal of busyness!
As always, the poorlies are in my thoughts and prayers.
Good morning from white sky s somerset. Windy but not as windy and might be brighter this afternoon
Bits and bobs to do today, to do with wool and I will be able to start knitting my home spun jumper this weekend. Off out for some exercise and fresh air in a couple of hours
Have a lovely day
Morning Mick, morning All. Light cloud over our corner of Somerset, sunshine to follow.
Goodness yesterday was tiring, the driving tells me I’m not as young as I was. Of course everything didn’t go to plan, there were traffic issues for us all. Our friend was very stressed, in spite of amazingly helpful builders major renovations to her home have become too much for her resources. She’s been living in a building site since January. It all settled eventually, the food was as good as ever, the cake enjoyed, our not so Littlest was impeccably behaved (wonder what his parents put in his breakfast), the decorations raised a smile - eventually. A walk around a small lake and it was off home. The builders will have cake today
.
We plan not a lot today. I’d like to finish taming the montana, Mr C will watch and offer advice which I will mostly ignore.
Mr C spent a day in my jeans recently ash and wondered why they ‘just didn’t feel right’. Men eh?
I’ll have missed much news writing this so will go back and read. Have the best day you can everyone. Hope Friday is kind to us all.
Good morning from another clear day in Cornwall. A lovely afternoon with my daughter-in-law yesterday, full of fascinating conversation and tasty food. Bought some Indian hippy-style trousers from a market stall, lovely and cool. To the beach today with my Krakatoa book, a mighty tome.
Ash, I’m tempted to ask if they is enjoying it😂!
Good morning from Shropshire.
I have a hospital appointment today at a hospital we haven’t been to before. We have no idea exactly where it is and no clue about the parking. To add to the stress we will have two grandchildren with us as DD and SIL are away.A large bag of snacks and activities will be packed!
Wishing all a good day and thoughts to all unwell and those with worries about family members 🦩🌺
Morning all from West Oxfordshire, it is our monthly WI Coffee morning. Not in our village cafe but in a village about half an hour away. A village where my late mum and stepfather ran the post office and where my sister was married. I haven’t been back there for years. Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all and GM you described the weather exactly, the same here in Essex.
Yesterday I took Dd and one of the twin gs’s to the docs as he has a worrying condition. Poor Dd wasn’t fit enough to take him on her own.
While we were there Dh attempted to fix her mower. Dgs was mowing the lawn but went over the cable 😤. No success so Dh will go back today with our mower and do her lawn.
I’m having a trim at the hairdressers today - growing it longer into a bob, so just a tidy up. I have a dry cut now which takes about 15 mins, - last time cost me £15. How different to years of 3 hour appointments with colour, style and blow drying, costing an arm and a leg! I’m lucky to have ‘good’ hair.
Hoping to meet our Friday friends today for lunch. We’ve had to cry off recently , so it will be good to catch-up.
How funny Ash. 😂.
Wishing you all a gentle day.🌸
Susan, a stressful day ahead for you. We used to take Dollie to my appointments and suggested she watch for the air ambulance landing, to keep her amused. It never did!
I hope your appointment goes well. 💐
Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. Sun is forecast for later but it's still not Summer clothes weather here.
A few bits to pick up in the City centre today, including a parcel that I was told would be delivered today but arrived yesterday while I was out.
I'll make a start on my holiday packing later.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning from a cloudy Angus but the forecast is for full sun today.
Spent the day in Dundee yesterday, went to V&A and the Discovery museum which was really interesting.
Last day today, maybe dinner out tonight.
Have a good day.
Mornings all
It’s grey here, seems to be a pattern grey and windy till around 1-30ish then the sun appears and out of the wind it’s nice and warm but the wind still has a chill to it.
We have The Imp today so it will be mountains of Duplo and the park I think. Off to the local Indian restaurant for dinner this evening.
Gingster so sorry that your DD is still poorly, what a worry for you all. I think you will look very glamorous with your in a bob 👍🏻
As for sorting out summer/winter clothes I am wearing winter clothes in the morning and changing into summer ones in the afternoon, I do want this weather to make up its mind 🌤️💨🌕☁️
Have a good day folks 🦩🙋♀️
Do they have supermarket home deliveries in Scotland, Marydoll? Very useful.
Good morning everyone from a sunny Inverness, the forecast is for another good day ahead.
A quick trip to the gym and Tesco this morning and then back home to potter in the garden
I also did the swap over to summer clothes a week or so ago and this week I washed all the gloves, hats and scarves I could find. They looked so funny all lined up on the washing line!
Hoping all goes well for your appointment today Susan
Also hoping all ok with your DGS *Gingster - enjoy your very well deserved lunch later
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning from an overcast W Kent. Interesting time at art as I shared a table with a different lady we don’t usually get much of a chat but found a lot of common ground. DD and GC popped by and E sat in a sunny garden. DGS helped empty a difficult kitchen cupboard for me so the tidying up and throwing out continues.
Lunch out today and a visit to hearing aid battery clinic, makes a change.
All the best to all
