To be able to hop skip and jump, walk, run, twist and turn with out pain.
To hear clearly, see without a cataract haze, to have a full set of teeth with no fillings.
To have pain free joints so I can put my own socks on, do up fastenings with out fumbling fingers.
If I could go back to my younger body I would cherish it more, put only healthy things in it, exercise more and maintain it's health and beauty even more. What do you miss most about your younger body??

Being able to do my bra up without having to twizzle it around after fastening it at the front.

I took my body pretty much for granted until I turned 40, just the occasional yoga or step class. Far too busy raising five children and running a business with DH to think about my body, I guess I remained skinny due to never sitting down for any amount of time 🤣

I joined a gym at 41 and still go regularly, a one to one personal training session, Callanetics along with a couple of other fitness classes.

I shall continue to go, as I age they will adapt my exercises to suit my body.

I miss being able to walk miles without knee pain. Being able to hear without the incessant hiss in my ears. I developed tinnitus in my late 40s, I would love complete silence.

I never wanted to go for walks in the countryside when I was younger and fitter and now that I want to I can't because I can't physically manage it!

I’ve always fastened mine at the front - even when I had 34As.
Maybe it’s easier if you’re not bountifully endowed - the only time I was ever anything remotely like bountiful in that department was when I was pregnant or breastfeeding.

I miss having seemingly endless energy and having total confidence in my body's ability to just do what I want. I am pretty lucky though, bits of me have got damaged over the years, generally playing one sport or another, but I'm OK for someone in mid 70's. I'm found an instagram site which promotes exercises for 60s,70s and 80s and try to do the balance ones on a regular basis, I go to a pilates class 2x weekly. I ought to do some weights but I just never get round to it and I do get tired!

Me too witzend grin
I have arthritis and can no longer climb onto a bicycle.

I think I have kept fairly fit and healthy but teeth, eyes, joints all fail eventually.
I remember in my youth being told to use facecream to prevent wrinkles. Seriously!

As if I was bothered about getting old.

That stretch you make when you first wake up in the morning, with no consciousness of what’s hurting today, and not even thinking about my body at all because it was all in good working order.

My body is still pretty good. No aches or pains.

But oh my face.

I wish I had that friendly face back. Now, unless I go around grinning like a Cheshire Cat, I look permanently 😾

And I’m really not.

I now know exactly what my dear, late Grandma meant when she said to me in her latter years : "If I'd known I was going to last this long perhaps I would have taken more care of myself".

annodomini Tue 06-Jun-23 10:05:45

I'm just glad I still have a body, never mind the state it's in. It's still just about functioning and is grateful for the amendments made, in its time, by science and surgery.

I would love to have my old, no my young body back. I was slim and had good skin and hair. I’m told my skin is still good and that I look younger than my age, which is amazing as I never put on face cream until I turned forty. I wish I’d used an spf cream when young though as I have some darker spots and so I need to use concealer.
I used to love my tai chi class but the lady who ran it stopped some time ago and I’ve been unable to find another class that I like. It was good for keeping me supple.

I miss having hair (any) and teeth (any).

I'm lucky that I can still do everything I want to physically, although I do have an autoimmune disease which is controlled with daily tablets. I do feel rather pooped after looking after 2 year GD for the day, but all in all I can't complain.
I started using Factor 50 sunscreen on my face and neck a few years ago which I think has made a big difference to wrinkles. I also do arm weights and exercises after getting wrinkly upper arms. With the addition of body cream daily, they've really improved so will be able to wear sleeveless clothes this summer.

henetha Tue 06-Jun-23 10:32:19

I used to be able to walk miles, at least ten, easily. But now my back pain kicks in after about 20 minutes or so.
My wrinkles aren't too bad for my age, but I'm having trouble getting rid of my rosacea.
And what's happened to my tummy? It used to be flat as a pancake.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 06-Jun-23 10:34:03

I hope you will not take this in bad taste…

DH has always joked that his job was to remove my bra not put it on 🤣🤣🤣

henetha Tue 06-Jun-23 10:36:49

Not bad taste at all, GG13. Just funny! grin

I miss the ease of giving myself a pedicure. My feet don’t want to come up as far as I need them to..
I hate wanting to sit down after walking for a while and I’m not liking the new slightly swollen finger joints on my left hand.
Throw in a hernia, tinnitus and gammy right arm after lymph node removal.
Having said that, I do enjoy life, glad I’m still here and just make the necessary adjustments.

I’ve forgotten what it’s like to be able to get down on the floor ( eg the other day I had to get something from under the bed) and not have to get up in stages. Or go ‘ ooh’ every time I get up from a chair. I must say, though, that my creaky joints improve dramatically when the weather gets warmer and also when I remember to take turmeric. I’ve often said that, if my younger self was transported straight into my current body I would wonder how anyone could exist like that! I walk at half the speed that I used to but ( touch wood) I am walking ok at the moment. Sometimes I struggle with walking ( I’ve bored people on here endlessly with my walking issues) and I’ve never found out why I have problems that then seem to right themselves.

When I said I wished I could skip like her, my DGD assured me, Never mind, I'd be able to skip like her when I'm a bit older 😂

It's frustrating, isn't it, travelsafar

What do you miss most about your younger body??
Everything!

Callistemon21 Tue 06-Jun-23 11:27:54

Oh, to see without spectacles, they are so annoying.

And remembering Pam Ayres's poem:

Oh, I wish I’d looked after me teeth,
And spotted the perils beneath
All the toffees I chewed,
And the sweet sticky food.
Oh, I wish I’d looked after me teeth.

Calendargirl Tue 06-Jun-23 11:32:04

But on a positive note….

I don’t miss having spots, greasy hair, worrying about my flat chest( still never had much in the bust department, but not bothered now), periods…

Grammaretto Tue 06-Jun-23 11:36:07

So true Calendargirl

Same here MayBee70 I haven't been able to kneel for many years now and as for getting down on the floor that's just about impossible. Groaning does seem to help though smile
