Lace Dresses for evening wear

Hello ladies, I am, unexpectedly, going on a cruise later in the year. In my "cruise" wardrobe, I have 2 lace dresses which I have not used for a while.

They would be very useful as cocktail dresses for some of the evenings - my question is - Are lace dresses now very "old hat"? They are both just below the knee. Thank you.

Lace dresses are meant to be worn as fun items, they are not party dresses or tea dresses, that’s old hat. rip out the sleeves, wear with laced boots and denim jacket for everyday wear. I would love a vintage lace dress to alter and wear. I’m a bit old fashioned and wear leggings under all dresses tho. I haven’t got the legs now.
On the cruise I went, we had two formal nights I just wore black trousers and a vintage lace top.

Go for it, as others have said!

One of my favourite dresses for formal nights is a knee length plum and black dress, originally from Debenhams, which I bought in a charity shop for £10!

Enjoy your cruise, LilyoftheValley!

The 70's love of crochet and lace is back in

I saw a lovely cream crochet (looked like heavy lace but wasn't) dress on a young girl on tv the other day.
Just like one I bought from C&A back in the day 🥰 I had a bag made from wooden beads, sandals with wooden heels and a straw floppy hat to accessorise.
I thought I was the bees knees, straight off the Cadbury Flake advert.🤣

If you feel good in them, wear them

A website I was looking at yesterday had a whole section listed for lace dresses.
Not "old hat" at all.

Thank you everyone for the advice ! The dresses shall come with me. I am arranging to have sleeves put into one of them in order that I do not have to "iron" my arms before going into dinner!
