Good morning from a dry Bristol.
Mercifully, I shall have a quiet day today. Yesterday was all go.
DS and I waited for the Salvation Army to collect then started on the IKEA stuff. We spent most of the day assembling an armchair, a small sofa, a dining table, two dining chairs and a footstool. The hall was filled with cardboard boxes!
We then decided that I needed a bigger armchairs as well, so why not go back to IKEA and get one. Hmmm…. We found one, took every shortcut known to man, but couldn’t find in in the stock room. We had to order it from “the desk”. Assuming incorrectly that it was the payment counter, we did that and went off to the warehouse to collect. Grave error, a) it wasn’t in stock, b) we had managed to mess up their computer as the item now showed as -1 on their screen!
We were sent to another desk - the returns, etc., where we had to wait about30 minutes before being seen. Eventually, we were seen , only to be told that the armchair was out of stock in the whole country, but would be available in a fortnight, did we want to wait?
Finally, we decided on the same item, in a different colour, in stock, in the warehouse (again), with a small refund. Different colours of the same item are priced differently (!).
Finally home and cream crackered, I made dinner, having a well earned glass of wine. The results are in the photos. Forgive the mess.
Hope today brings peace to everyone. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩

Good morning, s somerset will be hot and breezy

Oh well done GM, those photos are a delight and I am not surprised that you were cream crackered. Your home is emerging and looking lovely

The heat will soon make me turn into a cave dweller, I hardly emerge out during the day when it becomes too hot for me. The build-up has started here. These new very insulated houses were built to save energy in winter but they hang onto the heat in summer

I am only pottering today with periods of relaxation, I need to go to the butchers as they sell lovely home-produced items that are quick to cook and very tasty

Have a lovely day

Good morning from a glorious South Downs.

Haven’t posted much lately, as it would have been too full of woes, and no one wants to hear that. But at last all sorted and operation listed and I’m feeling pain free! And hopefully a week of antibiotics will clear any potential infection. Yippee.

Today will be hopefully my first day of normal, so back into the garden I go. Catching up to do. DH has been manfully watering for me but he is clueless about plants so I’ve a lot of supporting and cutting back etc to do.

Parent starlings bringing their babies into the garden - what a lot of noise! They are quarrelsome children, but good to watch.

High sun factor needed now and hat. I retreat into the shade under the umbrella after midday though. Doze with a book. How good is that🙂?

Life is good in summer ☀️☀️⛱️

Lemon chicken with jerseys, watercress and beans for dinner.

Morning Mick, morning All. A clear start to our corner of Somerset.

Enjoyed a day out yesterday, today we plan to wash the outside of the conservatory. A job we both enjoy, odd folk that we are. Lots of pots to water this evening. We don’t have so many this year, our holidaying neighbours on the other hand have (far too) many. Oh well, they’ll be back in a week and it keeps me out of mischief.

What an achievement yesterday grandmattie. Can you relax a bit now? Please be careful out there mick, I know I sound like a stuck record, just concerned for you. Stay cool karmalady, we’ve still got a chilly breeze to keep the temperature down outside, so far so good inside.

Thinking of all facing challenges. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

RosesandLilac Thu 08-Jun-23 06:53:48

Good morning from south Gloucestershire, it’s a bit cloudy and cool at the moment but apparently will be rather warm later 🤞🏻
Yesterday I managed to plant out everything I had growing on from seeds or plug plants so rather pleased with myself. I also moved two climbing roses that were being swamped by the thuggish day lilies in the border under the living room window. Poor things really were struggling, so hoping that they will do better now.
I gave everything a really good watering last night.

Today I don’t plan to do much other than the washing and sitting in the sun 😎
Enjoy the day x

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s overcast at the moment and one of the street lights is still on!

Went to see my friend yesterday and helped her out with an on going job. We had a nice chat too. Back home I watered my pots and sat in the sunshine for a while hoping the sunshine would help my achy shoulder.
Today is shopping and if I remember I’ll pick up my prescription.

Not read anyones news properly yet so will go back and do that. Have a good day all 🌺🦩

ginny Thu 08-Jun-23 07:13:54

Good morning.
We are off on a short break today to Bath where we are meeting friends for a couple of nights stay.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Mizuna Thu 08-Jun-23 07:14:53

Good morning from sunny Cornwall with a nice fresh breeze today, yippee. I'm off to my allotment to top up my pond water and trim the perennial rocket plants which will be going to seed in this weather.

Had an unexpected phone call yesterday from someone who said, 'Hello, it's Splinting and Bracing here.' To my shame I laughed - I didn't know it was the hospital - but then apologised and she took it well. Anyway, looks like another leg brace is being prepared, good old NHS, I only mentioned it to my doctor last week, and it means I can walk better till I get my next new knee.

Grammaretto Thu 08-Jun-23 07:19:24

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Overcast again but it will brighten up later.
Your IKEA exploits make me tired just reading gMattie . Well done for all you've achieved.

I have yoga this morning and I am teaching a pottery class this afternoon.
Meanwhile I am going back to sleep for an hour!

Have a good day everyone.

Gingster Thu 08-Jun-23 07:25:14

Good morning all and it’s chilly here in Essex. That wind was so cool yesterday and I sat with a blanket over me last evening.
Due for hot days soon. Crazy weather.

Picking up little DGD for school and taking DD’s shopping in. Hopefully go to bowls club and then see what the afternoon brings.

Nice to see you back whitewave. I’m glad you’re doing better.

Enjoy the day! 🌸

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 08-Jun-23 07:26:33

Morning all from West Oxfordshire, I should get up soon as I’m off to London. I’m meeting younger son for lunch and then we’re going to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition Buyers Day. Because I bought something at last year’s exhibition, I have been invited, with a guest, for free! It should be fun. Have a good day.

Ashcombe Thu 08-Jun-23 07:30:16

Good morning from a sunny Torbay but with a persistent NE wind.

What a saga with your furniture, grandMattie, but you seem to be taking it in your stride and it’s good to see your new home. Thank you. Take care of yourself, Whitewavemark2, and welcome back!

Lots of busy gardeners here. You may remember my concern about the over long grass in the parks near me - no mow May was suggested. Following emails to the Council and a newly elected Lib Dem Councillor, several contractors turned up immediately after the Bank Holiday and all looks better now. Most roundabouts locally are being left to grow wild, resulting in a delightful plethora of wild flowers.

Yesterday we attended a fascinating talk on Devon Air Ambulance at Wednesday Club where a collection raised £120 for this magnificent cause. Back to the theatre last night to rehearse for Dad's Army.

Today we plan to have lunch out at The Babbacombe Inn which we are happy to patronise. It’s very well run - plenty of staff and a friendly atmosphere so it’s becoming our regular watering hole.

A good day is wished for you all. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

brook2704 Thu 08-Jun-23 07:41:32

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a beautiful sunny start to the day with no clouds around. This run of good weather is so good up here, we’ve been really lucky
It’s looking good gMattie, thanks for the pictures, a trip to Ikea is always a challenge!
Good to hear things are improving whitewave, take care
I’m just back home from dropping DH off at the National treatment centre for his knee replacement surgery. It’s a lovely new modern building on the university campus, more like a hotel than a hospital. He’s first on the list so I’ll stay home until I get an update and then go back there to see how he’s doing
If you’re out and about today have a lovely time and enjoy the sunshine
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

kittylester Thu 08-Jun-23 07:44:45

Good morning all from a misty but sticky ish North Leicestershire.

Today I have to make a cake (hopefully my iffy oven will cooperate) I also need to go to the butcher's and we have a Sainsbury's delivery at tea time.

Susan56 Thu 08-Jun-23 07:44:49

Good morning from Shropshire where it already feels like it’s going to be another hot day🥵

We are going over to Cheshire today to see my mum.We will go out for lunch and then take her shopping so she has everything she needs while we are away.We are tired getting everything and everyone sorted so we can relax next week😴

Glad you’re feeling better Whitewave.Thoughts with all unwell and those worried about family members.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩🌺

Grandmabatty Thu 08-Jun-23 07:45:35

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and quite grey. It'll burn off eventually, I expect. GrandMattie well done on building the furniture. It looks lovely. Whitewave were your woes toe related? It's been quite a difficult time for you. Ash reading your post mentioning Babbacombe brings back very fond memories of holidays in Ilfracombe and the surrounding areas. We visited Babbacombe while on holiday.
Yesterday ended up being a non day. I gradually became more choked up and developed an eye infection into the bargain so went back to bed late afternoon. I slept well last night, considering my lengthy nap earlier.
Today I will definitely do nothing and attempt to get back to normal. Have a good day all

Susan56 Thu 08-Jun-23 07:46:46

Hope all goes well today brook.

Grandmabatty Thu 08-Jun-23 07:46:54

Brook good luck to your husband and his knee surgery.

Greyduster Thu 08-Jun-23 07:47:01

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Grey and very cool in South Yorkshire again today. DD came yesterday and we set to work clearing my shed. She proved how ruthlessly efficient at throwing away other people’s stuff she is - thank the Lord, because I would still be hanging onto things that are neither use nor ornament now. Her “now this will only hurt for a minute” attitude left me with a tidy, safe, usable space. I’ve booked her for the garage!!
Walking group this morning and then I have to drop by the fishing tackle shop on the way home.
Welcome RosesandLilac - sounds like you’re getting on further with planting out stuff you’ve grown than I am!
Have the best day you can folks.

baubles Thu 08-Jun-23 07:56:58

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s quite cool at the moment.

Great work Mattie, you have such patience.

Thinking of your DH today Brook.

Good to hear that you’re more like your old self Whitewave.

Welcome RosesandLilac.

Happy Lanimers to Stilllearning, hope you all have a great day.

I’m off once more into the breech. I’ve left such a mess in the sorting room which I’ll have to clear before we get any more donations in.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Marydoll Thu 08-Jun-23 07:58:30

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 11°°, it seems it will be cooler than yesterday.

GM, that was a very busy day, thank goodness you have your son to help.

Litterpicker, how disappointing for you, concerning the burnt jam. After many years of using my mum's jelly pan with a few disasters, I bought an electric jam maker. It has naade the whole process stress free and paid for itself many times over!

Borrheid, Yesterday, I met a fellow pupil from our high school days, who would have travelled with you on that rickety old, lean to McGill's bus to your hometown.
After over fifty years, I keep bumping into people from school.

Much to my surprise, yesterday I received a large information pack about my new RA treatment, a letter detailing the injection delivery schedule and a separate face to face appointment letter for 2024! Since I only spoke to the consultant on Friday, that is excellent service from the NHS.

I have no plans for the day, after a poor night, ( poor DH woken up again) so I shall just chill.

Glad you are back, WWM and sending best wishes to all, who are unwell or worried.

Have a good day folks.

Wyllow3 Thu 08-Jun-23 08:01:36

Good Morning from an overcast S Yorks. I haven't been getting the sun here at all! Envious!

All the best for DH Brooke and the furniture a good option for a smaller space GMattie. Can I borrow DD Greyduster good work there.

Am car free most of the day as its being collected at 9am for its MOT. Not expecting any shocks but you never know. It's just so nice they collect and deliver. Will be pottering and resting as pulled back again yesterday.

Bests for poorlies and family poorlies and those just getting better, and enjoy outings and gardens.

Marydoll Thu 08-Jun-23 08:03:52

Best wishes for your husband today, Brook.

A warm welcome to RoseandLilac.

Sar53 Thu 08-Jun-23 08:19:10

Good morning from another cloudy day in Essex by the sea.
I hope all goes well for your DH today Brook.
A busy day for me today.
A visit to our Accountant, then drop off a bag at the charity shop then some food shopping.
Later this morning I am driving over to Kent to DD2's house.
They are going to a funeral tomorrow so I will be picking the girls up from school. I have to go and show my face this afternoon so that they know who I am tomorrow !!!!
DH is off to the doctors soon then he is going to London to meet up with old work pals.
Enjoy your day everyone and hopefully the sun will shine xxx
