What would you have done if you were in the pub when they walked in?

Yes, 'inclusivity' often excludes the majority rather than simply including the minority as it's meant to do.

I'm unlikely to see this in the States as Americans are so prudish as to make the British look like amateurs. Being French I don't find nudity very disturbing. As for hygiene, who knows where people in pants and skirts have been sitting before they plopped down on the pub seat? I am mindful of the fact that computer keyboards have thousands more dangerous bacteria than toilet seats. People often fail to properly wash hands (for 30 seconds, with soap and warm water) after using the toilet then touch the doorknob, chair backs, table, etc.. Hands have far more bacteria than bums.

Many years ago my husband and I and our two sons aged 2 and 6 were on a French beach when an entire naked family walked past us and sat near us. I waited with bated breath for my children’s response “That man has forgotten his trunks” said the 2 yr old loudly and disapprovingly!

Indeed.

Many "inclusivities" (my word) can do whatever inclusive thing I dislike without me and my family in audience- we'll leave quietly.

I would like to have heard what my 8 yr old gson who has Adhd would have said ( he would not ! have held back ) if we had walked into this situation. I know for a fact he would have marched up to them and made a statement of some kind!

Ha, that happened to us.

We've only daughters, they'd no idea "Mum, a snake is hanging out of that man with no pants." Oh well, education on the beach.

Not wanting to see a naked dude's willy whilst eating is not being a "prude".

And being British, I don't find nudity on the beach, etc, disturbing either. It seems like the perfect environment for it. Unlike a pub and restaurant.

I am prudish!

I am prudish!

We all have our personal boundaries.

And we don't have to justify them to anyone.

This is very upsetting. It's indecent exposure. If it's not illegal, then it should be. There's something very wrong and disturbing about this, especially in a 'family' establishment. People get upset about women breastfeeding in public, but think this couple's actions are ok? This country is mad.

Callistemon21 Sat 10-Jun-23 22:54:09

In the case of naturism a balance needs to be struck between the naturist's right to freedom of expression and the right of the wider public to be protected from harassment, alarm and distress

grandtanteJE65 - you may be too old-fashioned to want to eat in company with complete strangers in the nude.

They aren't making you be naked.

Batworthy Sat 10-Jun-23 23:49:44

It's surprising that some people still complain about mothers breastfeeding in public, but it's apparently OK to wave your possibly smelly bits around where others are eating.
It's a strange world!

We are having a weekend away on the Suffolk coast. This afternoon a man cycled down the slope wearing just a black vest. My husband said he could see his bum cheeks. Sure enough he chained his bike up and walked past us, pulled off his vest and he was totally naked.

Callistemon21 Sat 10-Jun-23 23:55:25

I really can't understand anyone who wants to cycle in the nude.

It can't be a pleasant experience.

Agreed, but maybe that’s what he likes! 🤣

In hot weather, even with cotton shorts and underwear, it begins to feel rather warm, damp and uncomfortable.

I can't imagine what a long ride with a bare backside must feel like!

Or maybe they put a towel on the seat or something similar?

But - imagine falling off the bike on a gravelly road shock - a couple of layers of clothing might at least prevent some very unpleasant and painful grazing.

I really do understand why some might like to feel the wind, sun and air on their skin - unclothed. But why is it necessary to do everything, anywhere, anytime, completely naked?

I assume Neil and Danielle wanted an enjoyable and relaxing holiday - and now look, they're the centre of attention and they're explaining themselves to the media, reading comments on TAdvisor and getting upset with people for not "understanding". Quite ridiculous. If you stand out from the crowd, for good or bad, you're going to get noticed! If you walk into a pub where 100% of the customers are dressed and you're naked, you will draw attention to yourselves... "as any fule kno"

FannyCornforth Sun 11-Jun-23 10:09:53

Dickens Neil and Danielle aren’t a couple, they are both in a relationship with other people.
They are just friends who like doing stuff together in public with no kit on.

I feel sorry for the kids who are eye level to adult genitalia.

I don’t know whether I’m prudish or not, but I find it disgusting and downright wrong.

They're on holiday, going to Cornwall, stopping off in various places en route, hoping to gain attention.
Perhaps they didn't get enough attention from their Mummies and Daddies when they were toddlers.

I would call them a pair of exhibitionists.

I'm well aware of that - I read it, too. My point is that as a couple of holidaymakers regardless of their relationship, they wanted to enjoy a relaxing holiday together. As friends do.

travelsafar Sun 11-Jun-23 11:07:23

Even if you have the most beautiful body i can not understand why you would want to do this. Walking around a harbour as well, they are just attention seekers to my mind. What is the world coming to.

Glenco Sun 11-Jun-23 11:56:27

If it's not illegal then I suppose it has to be accepted, but I'd want the seats properly disinfected afterward.

... it has to be accepted - but only up to a point.

If someone crosses your personal boundaries, maybe you have the right to object, if they get too close to you and invade your space and make you feel uncomfortable? However, the law as it stands, is firmly on their side, rather than yours. Just being naked for the sake of being naked, is not an offence.

I think the seats had bin-liners put on them prior to the couple sitting down.

Callistemon I was being tongue in cheek.
I would call them ‘exhibitionists’ too, in fact, I already have.
I’d probably go as so far as to call them perverted.
I’m probably one of the least acceptant posters on the thread.

But it is true that they are not a couple; well, that’s what they have said in the articles linked here.
They are in relationships with other people.
I mentioned it because I find that odd, too.

Callistemon21 Sun 11-Jun-23 13:25:55

It's rainy and cooler today.
I wonder if they've found a nice warm pub to linger in.
