Good morning from Bristol. The dawning sky is clear, we are promised another hot day. Thankfully, the nights are still tolerably cool. Been awake for at least an hour.
I trust that Mick is doing well after his surgery and will be back soon.
It was hot yesterday wasn’t it? I made some of my famous Nutella brownies for this morning’s coffee with the inmates. I’m not sure how long I’ll be there as a meeting planned for Friday has been brought forward to this morning.
My shopping trip was very early as the mile-long walk in the sun would have been appalling. I’m not good at all in the heat; I become very grumpy and listless.
DS came in the afternoon, we had a large lump of gammon for dinner. In other circumstances, I would have made him a Christmas dinner but knowing that a) I wasn’t at home last Christmas, and b) I was moving, I didn’t make any preparations for such.
After dinner, we went to the church to start putting up rails and sorting out clothes for a clothes exchange on Saturday. DS’s muscles were much appreciated for assembling the rails.
This afternoon, I have a book group meeting in the local library. My first. We’ll see if I get on with the people and the books..
I hope all is well for everyone. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩

Thanks Gwen for the update on mick, sad news though, hope to hear from him soon

Thanks marydoll DH is making good progress, the pain is manageable and he’s moving slowly about with his crutches. It’s still early days though. Pleased to hear you’re feeling a bit better and able to work your magic on babydoll!

Good morning all from another sunny day in the Black country.
Yesterday evening we had a phone call to say our friend had been taken into hospital, she's been struggling with breathing, and inhalers she had been given previously weren't helping.
As is the norm in a lot of places no drs appointment available, finally she got one and oxygen levels so low he sent her straight to hospital. Hopefully now she's in they can find the cause and bring her some relief.
Nursery pick up today and quick tidy round then back to my book in a nice shady spot.
Shall get my cuppa 🍵 and read through everyone's news.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton. Like most of us, shall try and take it easy today.

Have a load of washing waiting, some of it with stain remover on, but am dreading hanging it out after washing - yesterday I was out for no longer than 5 minutes hanging the bedding out but it was enough to start my hay fever off for the rest of the day. I didn't go on my health walk, but instead took myself off to Boots on the bus, and bought some of the medication recommended by Marydoll. Shall try it in a moment, fingers crossed it will help. Also got some Sudocrem for my sore nose.

Undecided as to going to the well-being cafe after lunch, will see how I feel.

Stay cool everyone, and have a good day.

Good morning from another lovely start to the day from Suffolk, although my start isn’t as early as some of yours.

I had a couple of things planned for yesterday but, apart from ironing, the lure of reading in the summerhouse with doors and windows open and in the shade was too much. I spent a very pleasant few hours there reading. DH always brings me a cup of tea mid afternoon if I retreat there as he prefers indoors with some curtains drawn.

Off to keep fit shortly and then meeting a friend for coffee which will morph into lunch. We haven’t seen one another for nearly three weeks so lots of catching up to do.

GrandMattie you seem to have not only done so much to your flat since moving in but also to establishing a new social life for yourself. I’m most impressed. I’m visiting Bristol next week as youngest GC there has a big role(according to her) in the end of primary school play.

Her mother our eldest DD was shocked to find out that her latest history project is about life in the 1950s to 1980s. She said that she now feels very old to be part of history!

Thoughts with all those not in the best of health and hoping Mick is on the road to recovery post op.

It’s good to hear news of Mick’s progress; thank you, Gwenisgreat1.

I hope your DD is soon well enough to go home, Gingster. It’s lucky you’re able to care for DGD. 💐

Good morning friends it’s to be a hot hot day here on the east coast of Fife, yesterday was hot too I think it’s a day for sitting in the garden must lather the cream on and not the fresh kind 🤣🤣

monk08 Wed 14-Jun-23 08:05:04

Gwen Thanks for the update on Mick
Ginster hope DD is back home soon.
Marydoll your garden looks very magical especially the seating area.

grandMattie Wed 14-Jun-23 08:11:58

Gingster, my prayers are with your DD and the whole family.
Gwen, thank you for the update on Mick. 🤞for his rapid progress.
Marydoll, I hope the sea air helps your breathing.
Love to the others I have missed.

Marydoll Wed 14-Jun-23 08:12:53

Multi, I think you look fabulous! Having know you before you became ill, you actually look younger! That is meant to be a compliment, even if it doesn't seem like it! 😘

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 14-Jun-23 08:14:21

Gwen thanks from me as well, hope Mick is able to get home soon with a treatment plan.
Gingster your poor girl! Hoping she is able to get home soon as well.
Marydoll continue to take care, pleased you have a lovely family to visit you.
The owner of the Villa popped by a few minutes ago, fortunately he speaks English, he wanted the spare keys that go with our new lock, I explained that we didn’t have a new lock fitted, the chap who came pulled out the piece of key, gave us his spare key and we were done, he looked surprised, went home and brought back his old key and as it fitted went off scratching his head. I’m assuming that the chap told him we had had a new lock fitted? I told him that the washing machine wasn’t working ( no water) but he said that the water is off in our area until this afternoon, apparently it was on the local news! Needless to say the TV hasn’t been on as we don’t speak Greek. But all of the taps have water so ……?
Anyway, hope everyone manages to find some cool spots today

Susan56 Wed 14-Jun-23 08:24:08

Good morning from a beautiful day in Essex by the sea.
Gingster I'm so sorry to hear that your DD is back in hospital, she is certainly going through the mill at the moment.
DH has his diabetic eye check up this morning so I shall be doing the driving.
Not much else planned today.
I hope Mick is on the road to recovery from his op.
Have a great day and take care in the sun xxx

Taichinan Wed 14-Jun-23 08:33:59

Good morning from another sunny day on the Angus coast. We're not nearly as hot here as some of you are, but even so it's too hot for me! But I do love the blue skies and sunshine!
So sorry to hear about your poor DD gingster. She's going through such an unimaginably hard time - as of course are you flowers.
Marydoll I too love wandering round the garden in the cool of the evening. It all smells so lovely then, and fresh.
Poor Mick with the diagnosis I'm sure you dreaded. I hope the healing vibes and thoughts from the rest of us help flowers
How lovely to watch your DGD's choir concert Brook. A proud granny indeed.
Now I must stop lolling in my bed looking at my lovely view and get moving before the day gets too hot. (I didn't think a week ago that I'd be saying such a thing!). Enjoy your day whatever you're doing and I hope those meetings are refreshingly short grandmattie and baubles

Georgesgran Wed 14-Jun-23 08:36:03

Good morning from Durham. Another sunny day forecast.
Meeting a friend for coffee this morning. DD1 has raging toothache - it’s on going - if she can get antibiotics, I’ll collect the ‘script for her.
DGS1 to pick up from school later and some clean laundry to return to DGS2.
Best wishes to all. X

EkwaNimitee Wed 14-Jun-23 08:50:50

Good morning everyone from hot sunny Carlisle.
Another day I shall be spending indoors with the blinds down.
I had the washing out yesterday and the heat from the sun was fierce. I had the hose out on the garden in the evening. My amelanchier has started showing some autumn colour, I took it as a hint that it would appreciate a good soaking, which it duly got. I hesitate to put more plants in, I think I shall keep them on the watering tray I put them on whilst I was away.
There's plenty to do indoors though it won't involve hauling the vacuum around.
Best wishes to all the poorly and their carers and to Mick who I hope is progressing well.

Good morning from a boiling hot Co Armagh
Today is the last Wednesday club till September, we are going for lunch in the local pub where there is a huge wood burning stove !!, please goodness it’s not lit 🤣🤣
Marydoll I’m very fond of a solar light or ten !
I have solar fountain in my pond , it’s great fun these days , the Grandkids used to love standing in front of it and jumping away to see it springing to life . The sound is quite soothing too , I know to put my hearing aids in if I can’t hear it 🙄
Best wishes to Mick , thanks for the update Gwen

GrannySomerset Wed 14-Jun-23 09:19:52

Another hot night and a hot day to come. At least the washing will dry quickly - yesterday’s bedding was done in an hour - but otherwise I will be keeping a low profile. Singing this afternoon so I will need to summon up sufficient energy for that and for the necessary watering in the evening.

Good to have news of Mick, though not what he will have wanted to hear, and so sorry for Gingster’s poor DD who has had far more than her share of problems. Hope babydoll has the threatened red hair, Marydoll - having had a red haired husband, two reddish children and fabulously red DGD I am all in favour!

ShazzaKanazza Wed 14-Jun-23 09:31:59

Good Morning grandMattie and everyone from Hull and another hot day.
I’ve just hung out my washing, had a walk around the garden and watered the Cosmos I planted last weekend.

Yesterday’s ride out to Skegness was great and what a resort it is. I was highly delighted to find gluten free doughnuts . I haven’t eaten a doughnut in years. I was in heaven. They haven’t done a lot for my waistline today as I’m usually a healthy eater.
I need to check on Mum’s house today and pick her post up while she’s at her caravan and picking up GS from school later.

Gwen Thankyou for the update on Mick. That’s worrying news. Looking forward to having him back in a few days though grandMattie is a good deputy.

Thoughts to your daughter this morning Gingster 💐

Have a lovely day everyone. 🌻🌞

Auntieflo Wed 14-Jun-23 09:37:57

Good morning ( my iPad keeps wanting to say "Good.Orning"!
to Grandmattie Michael in his absence, Annie and all.

My you are a lot of early birds. I haven't done anything yet, except have my breakfast.
Ginster, so sorry to hear that your DD has had another setback. Let's hope she soon feels better.
Love your garden lights Marydoll, and 🤞that your proposed outing is a success in the sea air. How I would love a sea breeze right now.
Yesterday was a Face to Face with one of the Oncology team. I was delighted to see her, ( and not her boss), she is so easy to talk to, and I felt better for the visit. I was told that I have an upcoming appointment with the TIA clinic, as a precaution after my 'odd' episode a few weeks ago.
Best wishes and speedy recovery to Mick, and hugs for all the poorlies.
Keep cool and have a good day one and all.

luluaugust Wed 14-Jun-23 09:38:15

Thank you Gwen for the news about Mick

Blossoming Wed 14-Jun-23 09:55:30

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. Another hot day, still no rain as yet. Thinking of you today Mick and hope there’s a treatment plan in place.

For some reason, despite the heat I’m sleeping really well. My stomach has been behaving itself so that may contribute to it.

I overdid it a little yesterday and gave MrB a fright as I fainted while hanging out the last of the laundry after I got home from my walk. I really should have had a rest after my walk but I thought I’d just do that last job first. I managed to sit down before passing out and was right as rain after a glass of water and a lie down. MrB helped me upstairs then went and hung out the laundry. Only 2 mismatched pegs grin

Nothing much planned for today, we’ll see how the day goes.

Have a lovely trip out Marydoll, Babydoll seems to be thriving. Long live the redhead! MrB is one, as are many of our nieces and nephews.

Safe journey to any travellers and healing thoughts to any poorlies.

Have a good day all 🌻🌻🌻

Greyduster Wed 14-Jun-23 09:58:46

Good to hear that Mick came through the surgery okay. One step at a time.
Gingster your poor DD must be worn out with it all. I hope she’s back home soon💐
I found a dead pigeon behind my garden bin this morning. I saw it yesterday in the back of the flower bed and it looked a bit out of sorts so I put a dish of water down near it, but seeing it this morning brought a tear to my eye for some reason. Daft old woman! I didn’t want to put it in the bin so I took it down to the top of the field and left it in the hedge. Back to nature.

hulahoop Wed 14-Jun-23 10:02:18

Good morning from Sunnyside northwest coast.
8 o’clock this morning bell rang and a couple of chaps with a delivery of large mattress I hadn’t ordered, wrong address.
Didn’t enjoy music club yesterday even wearing new dress and feel in a strange mood, nothing to do with the heat, which I like. Don’t feel like seeing or talking to anyone, so not going to my usual lunchtime recital, even though I know the pianist
Might just finish my beloved book.

Thanks for news re Mick Gwen and thoughts to Gingster and all with worries.
