Good morning from Bristol. The dawning sky is clear, we are promised another hot day. Thankfully, the nights are still tolerably cool. Been awake for at least an hour.
I trust that Mick is doing well after his surgery and will be back soon.
It was hot yesterday wasn’t it? I made some of my famous Nutella brownies for this morning’s coffee with the inmates. I’m not sure how long I’ll be there as a meeting planned for Friday has been brought forward to this morning.
My shopping trip was very early as the mile-long walk in the sun would have been appalling. I’m not good at all in the heat; I become very grumpy and listless.
DS came in the afternoon, we had a large lump of gammon for dinner. In other circumstances, I would have made him a Christmas dinner but knowing that a) I wasn’t at home last Christmas, and b) I was moving, I didn’t make any preparations for such.
After dinner, we went to the church to start putting up rails and sorting out clothes for a clothes exchange on Saturday. DS’s muscles were much appreciated for assembling the rails.
This afternoon, I have a book group meeting in the local library. My first. We’ll see if I get on with the people and the books..
I hope all is well for everyone. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩

Good morning, another very hot night in The Midlands to try and get to sleep. Up before the larks again. I'm not much use to anyone in very hot weather, remember when I used to lie out in it, now it's the shade and a book.
What a busy day you had yesterday Grandmattie and lovely having dinner with your son.
Have a good day everyone, I'm having a chill out one.

RosesandLilac Wed 14-Jun-23 05:45:42

Good morning!
I too am pretty useless in hot weather, luckily the house is reasonably cool so I sat, knitted and listened to podcasts.
More of the same today I guess though I will pack for my few days away from tomorrow.
DH is out walking the dog, a lovely start to the day.
Have a lovely day.

Jaxjacky Wed 14-Jun-23 06:21:30

Morning, I hope Mick is improving daily. Thanks for opening gMattie your meeting hopefully isn’t too long in this heat.
Saw my GP yesterday, the phone appointment next week with haematology will answer more questions.
A busy morning planned, getting jobs done before the heat kicks in.

Good morning all, it’s another beautiful day here in South Lanarkshire.

I had a free day yesterday and spent most of it reading in the garden.

Today I have to attend a regional meeting, one of our shops has a large space which is usually used as a community hub so will accommodate all of us assistant managers. I did think I’d finished with all of this when I retired years ago, at least it’ll be a change from our weekly Teams meeting and I’ll meet people in person rather than on a screen.

Have the best day possible everyone.

karmalady Wed 14-Jun-23 06:28:37

Good morning from what will be another very hot s somerset, yesterday was 29 degrees out

I was like a sloth yesterday, once I was home and in my nest. I sat and read and gazed at the garden from a shady spot. More of the same today with lots of water and some cold watermelon that I stashed in the fridge

Have a lovely day

Good morning from another sunny day in Cyprus, a cooling breeze all day yesterday and this morning helps to keep the heat down, plenty of shade for me too, my heat rash isn’t a good look and came up on day 2 even though I’m very careful, going home with blood blisters all over me isnt something I want to have.
Have a good day everyone, hope those who are unwell start to feel a bit better today, best wishes to Mick, MD and the Urms.

Greyduster Wed 14-Jun-23 06:36:37

Good morning, Mattie, Michael in absentia and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire. Hope you’re doing okay, Mick. I enjoyed my swim yesterday but not getting back into my car that had been baking in the car park for over an hour! I had a visit from a gardener in the afternoon who is going to do some work on my overgrown hedges. If he does a good job, I will offer him some regular work. Writers group at the library this afternoon and then I might wash my car when the sun has gone off it.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 14-Jun-23 06:36:44

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It feels hot already! I had to go to the bank in Oxford yesterday and by the time I got back home I was so warm and listless I didn’t want to go out again. So today we are definitely going out to buy a tree and one or two other garden things. It is the local History Society tonight so I might go along to that. Our cleaning lady is unwell again so won’t be coming. Have a good day and don’t forget the sunscreen!

Grandmabatty Wed 14-Jun-23 06:49:47

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and misty. grandMattie Nutella brownies sound amazing. I have never yet made any sort of brownie which worked. Baubles I hope your meeting doesn't last long.
Yesterday was quite a fractious childcare day. Dgs2 was fine in the morning but grumpy in the afternoon. He and his big brother wound each other up. We all ended as friends afterwards. I visited mum later. She had fallen out of her chair and understandably got a fright. When I arrived, a doctor was checking her over and she was fine. The nurses got a fright too and were extra solicitous. I couldn't get rid of them! They were going to monitor her closely overnight and refer back to the doctor if required. I visited a friend's mum who was in the next room. The difference between them was saddening. Her mum was up and dressed and blethered away. My mum lies in bed unless she's made to get up and rarely initiates conversation. I think she's given up trying.
Today I have an early haircut then nothing else planned. Hooray! I'll potter about the house and garden and go back to see mum tonight. Have a good day all

Good morning from Torbay where it’s 16 degrees already.

Yesterday, I enjoyed lunch out with one of my theatre friends who is in the Props team. At least, it saved cooking in the heat. In the evening there was a committee meeting at the theatre for which I was late arriving, having got the start time wrong! I blamed the heat….!

This morning, my DD2 is ringing me as she drives to work. In their busy lives, she fits in calls to me where she can. Also, I think she prefers the privacy of her car as DGD has “ big ears”!!

Take care and keep cool. 🦩💐😎🥰🦩

Good morning from Norfolk.I don’t manage very well in the hot weather either but a nice breeze here yesterday.

We had a lovely day yesterday. We spent the morning at Horsey watching the seals and then went to Horsey water pump where a very knowledgeable lady told us the history of the pump and lots of information about the Broads.

Hoping Mick is recovering well and thoughts to everyone unwell and those with worries about family.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩🌺

Good morning all from a cooler North Leicestershire.

Up early this morning to try to get the ironing done before it heats up too much. DH is off to the gym.

Have the best day possible everyone.

harrigran Wed 14-Jun-23 07:10:20

Good morning from a sunny NE. Comfortable temperature in the bedroom overnight, so sleep was not a problem.
Woken at 6.50 by my tablet pinging, it we DS telling me he is able to visit this afternoon as his meeting has been cancelled.
Sister brought me some geraniums yesterday, BIL has promised to plant them out on Saturday.
Have a good day.

Marydoll Wed 14-Jun-23 07:16:31

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where its 12°C and humid.
Hoping Mick is on the mend.

I struggled again with my breathing yesterday and at one point drove my car round the block, with the air con going full blast. Bliss!
I have taken to wandering around the garden in my pyjamas later at night, when the air is cooler. It's slightly magical, as I have a penchant for solar lights. DH is worried that, because we are on the flight path for Glasgow Airport, pilots may mistake our garden for the runway.

Yesterday, we had an unexpected visit from babydoll, pure joy. They appeared at lunchtime and fortunately, as I have a seige mentality, with a nuclear bunker , (DS2's comment), they were well fed and watered. Baby is so much more alert and DS was most impressed, when I sang a screaming hot and tired baby to sleep. I thought I had lost my touch.😁
My neighbours also came across to see her and thought she was going to have red hair, like myself and DS. 😍

I feel slightly better today, so today, DH has offered to take me a run to Troon, where hopefully breathing in the sea air, will be easier, than here.
We will then go to the garden centre at Seamill for lunch (then I won't have to make dinner!). Not too long a day, so home after lunch.

Wishing you all a pleasant day, Baubles good luck with your meeting and Jax, hopefully you will receive some reassurance and support.

Morning grandmattie, morning All. A sunny day ahead for our corner of Somerset.

Yesterday went to plan, dust was removed, faffing completed and as predicted our gas meter remains in sulk mode.

Off out today, we’ll enjoy the air conditioning in the car.

Hope mick is on the mend Thinking of all poorly folk. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Gingster Wed 14-Jun-23 07:21:15

Good morning all and it’s another bright and s7nny one.

Yesterday morning I had a message from Dd. She was in hospital again with excruciating toothache. She was taxied to another hospital where she had surgery on a very infected tooth. I think her immune system is so low , that she’s picking up everything. She’ll be in for a couple of days. We have little DGD here. Poor little thing, missing her mum again!

Today Dh will go fishing and as I’ll be without a car I’ll walk to mass and then up to town. Pop into the bank to change details and back home to the cool off.

Hoping you all have a ‘good’ day and try to keep cool. 🌞🥵

brook2704 Wed 14-Jun-23 07:30:19

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a clear sunny start to the day with a high of 26º forecast for later, another gorgeous day ahead
Oh dear Gingster your poor DD, something else for her to contend with. Sending 💐 and hope yur DGD gets her mum back very soon
Had a lovely day yesterday, the highlight was seeing DGD in her end of year choir concert. Shes been singing in the Inverness branch of the NYCOS junior choir for almost a year now and seems to enjoy it. It was the last session yesterday so Tuesdays will become a bit less busy until they start up again next term.
Today I’m going for just one class at the gym before it gets too hot and then home to spend the rest of the day in the garden with DH.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gala Wed 14-Jun-23 07:32:29

Good morning from a very sunny Sefton. I too get grumpy & listless grandMattie. I recall Michael Caine complaining about the "unrelenting Californian sunshine" - I'm beginning to understand how he felt! I have been rising early &taking advantage of the coolish early mornings to get jobs done. I managed my Zoom exercise class yesterday morning with the help of a large fan & every door & window open. Then a flying visit to our u3a weekly gathering, a quick essential food shop then retreated indoors for the rest of the day. I did contemplate joining the dog who had discovered that our hallway was the coolest place in the house.
Another zoom exercise class this morning - might need to hijack DH's "personal " fan.
Then possibly a visit to the nearest garden centre to purchase a comfortable lolling around/feet up type of garden chair that is not in danger of collapsing underneath me...as is my current lolling around chair. Rest of the day at leisure in the shade with a good book.
Stay cool. 🥶

Marydoll Wed 14-Jun-23 07:32:37

Corner, we had your meter's twin! After months of hassle, phone calls and stressful online chats, the smart meter was removed and replaced with a good old fashioned refurbished one.
Our readings are now normal, instead of the hundreds of pounds of gas, we were allegedly using daily! 🤬

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 14-Jun-23 07:33:56

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate. Mick called me yesterday to let us know he’d had his op and it had gone well, he is on medication. The results of his endoscopy proved he has bowel cancer. I didn’t want to upset him asking about it. He seemed chirpy and is hoping to be back home on Friday. So hopes to be back at the helm on Saturday. Yesterday was enjoyable, met our 8 week old grand dog. He’s a golden retriever called Winston. He snoozed most of the time. Today hope to do some shopping, then later pick up DGD from school and bring her back with us.
Have the best day possible folks

Marydoll Wed 14-Jun-23 07:34:59

Gingster, your poor daughter, I'm so sorry to hear of her latest setback. 😪
brook, hoping your DH is making good progress.

Marydoll Wed 14-Jun-23 07:36:38

Thank you for the update, Gwen.

luluaugust Wed 14-Jun-23 07:39:12

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Meeting a friend for coffee later but otherwise getting ready for a visit from DB and an American friend of his. We entertain so rarely now with people staying so heavy going in the heat.
Gingster so sorry to read about your DDs day.
Marydoll hope the sea air helps.
Best wishes to all

Good morning. Another bright sunny day coming up here in N. Bucks. Hooray !
Yesterdays eye test resulted in new glasses for reading and close work.

Luckily distance vision is still fine.
Smallest DGS was very excited to find a baby blackbird behind a chair in our dining room. It must have hopped in between us having breakfast and before we went out as the outside door was open, Anyway it was duly rescued and it’s Mum who had been making a lot of noise seemed very pleased to see it.

Today is an at home day so, household jobs and some baking. Luckily our kitchen faces north so stays cool

I haven’t read through all the posts yet so wish all a good day with a smile along the way.
