Good morning from a bright, cloudless Bristol, in loco Mick, who I trust is progressing well.
Wasn’t it warm again yesterday afternoon? I’m so very glad that the nights are still in the low teens.
My inmate coffee morning went well; I met different people. The last one was very full, the first in some 6-8 months and also people were keen to have a dekko at me! I found out that 4 flats in the complex were empty. All victims of probate, one for nearly 2 years now. Scandalous!
The book group went well, with the usual person more vocal and tending to monopolise the group. Very few enjoyed the book, which is always a good thing as it causes much discussion.
Today, I have a t”ai chi class, then go to my weekly dinner at DD’s.
Happy birthday/anniversary to those with them. Hope the poorlies feel better and manage the heat.Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩

Good morning. GM good to hear that you are getting to know the other ‘inmates’ as settling into your new home.
I hope that Mick is going along ok and will be home tomorrow.

Hope the heat isn’t too bad for everyone, one advantage of being in the heat abroad is the aircon in the bedrooms, it’s a life saver and the cool breeze during the day helps.

Have a good day everyone, I’ll pop back later to see what’s going on.it’s 7.48 here so I’m ahead of you.

Good morning, a hot sunny day today and I am not liking this restricting heat. 29 yesterday and likely to be the same today

I was too wakeful last night, no wind and the air was stuffy. I am going with the flow again today and am already looking forward to my afternoon nap in my cave. I am hoping to get the knitting mojo this afternoon

My dress pocket and surrounding fabric tore on a door handle yesterday, I love that dress, hand made `the factory dress` and only a toile, made in a cheap cotton/viscose, a cool dress. A big tear but there is a pattern on the fabric and I have managed to do a very tidy repair. That dress lives again.

I picked another 2kg of gooseberries and bought some sugar and elderflower cordial, found more jars and am prepped and ready to make jam this morning. I even enjoyed topping and tailing, while sitting on a bench in the shade.

The only other `job` is to make almond milk from soaked nuts. The skins should slip off and then it only takes a few minutes to make

A quick wipe around the en suite and cloakroom and that will be me done for the day. The gooseberries are already on a low heat and jam will be made in an hour or so

Sciatic pain radiating from my hip is very much subsiding, I know exactly the cause, digging and twisting. Intensive care to myself has had a good result

Have a lovely day, the birds are certainly enjoying themselves and are a wonder to watch

RosesandLilac Thu 15-Jun-23 06:08:15

Good morning, a bright start here too.
The breeze yesterday made the heat more tolerable although I didn’t go outside other than to hang out washing, but when it dropped in the afternoon it was sweltering 🥵
Today I’m off for a few days to a residential crafts break, looking forward to a change of scene and no cooking!
It’s a few hours drive so I’m going to be very thankful for air on in the car; I will leave about midday and hope for an easy drive.
I’ve booked a painting holiday next year in Wales, that should be different because it’s painting en plain air, never tried that.
Have a lovely day everyone 🌹

Stilllearning Thu 15-Jun-23 06:09:20

An unlikely early good morning from S Lanarkshire.
Nice to read such a positive post grandMattie, your courage is doing its job and it’s good to see.

I haven’t in fact managed my holiday with family in Connel, I became a bit unwell when I was at lunch at DD2’s on Sunday and stayed there for a couple of days, sleeping mostly. I’ve been at home since Tuesday evening and just taking things easy. I think I could get used to this. Bossy family says yes.

I’m keeping Mick in mind and hope he’s doing a little better.
He is so uncomplaining.

Best wishes to everyone for a good day and comfort for those struggling.

Good morning grandmattie, good morning All. Birds are singing and the sky is blue, cheers me to wake to it.

Not sure what today will bring, perhaps a trip to a stately home, cool inside and plenty of trees for shade outside. Oh yes, decent ice cream too

Pleased pain is subsiding karmalady, it can be debilitating. I smile at your ‘inmates’ comment grandmattie. Thinking of mick and all managing health challenges. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

monk08 Thu 15-Jun-23 06:34:44

Good morning all from the Black country another sunny start.
DH has early blood tests so will go for breakfast afterwards they do a nice one at the garden centre.
Will water garden before we go so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day everyone and may you all find some ☀️.

Ashcombe Thu 15-Jun-23 06:38:24

Good morning from a warm and sunny Torbay where it hardly cooled overnight.

Supplies are running low so I’ll have to do do a Lidl run this morning. The smaller local one will suffice as it’s quicker to reach and to negotiate than the more distant bigger branch.

It’s good to hear of holidays and happenings at home. Your energy in this heat is impressive, grandMattie. Lovely photo, NannyJan53! I hope you are feeling better, Stilllearning, and you sound like you’re unwinding in Cyprus, Oopsadaisy1.

Best wishes to Mick as he recovers in hospital.

Take care, everyone! 🦩💐😎🥰🦩

GrannyGravy13 Thu 15-Jun-23 06:44:28

Morning all

We arrived back home from Cyprus at 11.15pm last night. Today will be spent mostly on laundry duty and gazing in fridge and/or freezer to find my cooking mojo after 8 days of five star luxury.

Sorry to learn of Micks results and hope treatment starts soon.

The photos are of the beach side Restaurant and the view from my sun lounger.

Looks like a glorious day ahead.

(((Hugs))) to all in need 🦩🙋‍♀️

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° with beautiful blue skies. I've been outside and there's a delicious coolness in the air so I have my back door wide open to catch it. I'll probably end up catching wasps!
Stilllearning I hope you are feeling better now. Such a shame about your holiday. NannyJan a lovely view. It looks like you are having a good time. RoseandLilac enjoy your painting trip.
Yesterday was lovely and quiet after two busy childcare days. A short haircut first thing set me up for the day. My hairdresser is a lovely man who makes me laugh. I pottered about the house and garden happily until evening when I visited mum. I bumped into my friend who was visiting her mum at the same time so we had a quick blether. Later, I watered the garden. I had bought a new house and halfway through soaking the pots, the blooming thing disintegrated, water spraying everywhere. But especially on me!I had to finish the job hauling heavy watering cans round. Like Queen Victoria, I was not amused.
Today I'm not sure what I'll get up to. I might go to the garden centre as I need birthday cards and they have a good choice. I will probably buy plants though which would mean more watering! Cheese omelette and tomato salad for dinner. Have a good day all

Grandmabatty Thu 15-Jun-23 06:48:41

Hose not house!

Whitewavemark2 Thu 15-Jun-23 07:08:52

Good morning from a glorious South Downs. What wonderful weather we are having. The temperature is just right.

Everything in the garden is thriving, thanks to DH’s vigilance with the garden hose. Cauliflowers getting bigger by the day and broad beans fattening. They are being lined up for accompaniments to roast beef.
The flowers are wonderful this year, I do think that we are being rewarded for having to put up with so much winter rain.

My saturated fat free diet is beginning to pay dividends as well! Lost 6lb in a fortnight!! So even my dodgy gallbladder is bringing benefits! My aim is to fit into two summer dresses I particularly love. I shall now begin to plan to get myself ready for surgery and recovery. I think good nutrition is a key and some aerobic exercise.

Beef bourguignon for dinner, made with very lean beef and olive oil, not butter as I would normally use. The flavour will be different, but needs must!

Everyone whose is feeling under the weather, May your sparkle return and everyone else enjoy this glorious day.

NanKate Thu 15-Jun-23 07:12:42

Good morning grandMattie. Hope Mick is improving.

It’s hot and sunny here in South Bucks.

My niece is arriving from Northern Italy for a 5 day stay. It’s the same temp there ! We’ve decided to give her a beautiful diamond brooch now which was left to me, instead of leaving it in our Will for her. If she wants to sell it that’s fine.

What lovely holiday pics NannyJ and GrannyGravy.

I love the light mornings and evenings.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 15-Jun-23 07:15:38

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I am still in bed and can hear the birds cheeping outside my window. We are meeting old friends for lunch. We haven’t seen them for a year but they have recently moved from their home in Wales so are only about half an hour away. When we get back I have a hanging basket for the front garden to organise. We bought some beautiful plants for it yesterday. Mainly blue and purple. I do hope it’s not quite so muggy and humid today. Have a good day and I hope Mick is being well looked after in hospital.

luluaugust Thu 15-Jun-23 07:18:45

Good morning from a hazy W Kent. Off to art group and then a quick visit to the supermarket, otherwise hope to sit in the garden. gM glad you are settling in with the inmates!
Enjoy your craft break RoseandLilac
Best wishes to all

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sun's up!
I read new house 3 times grandmabatty grin before the penny dropped.
I am sorry you haven't been well Stilllearning . Sending hugs.
Our annual U3A outing today. We're off to Glasgow to see the Burrell Collection.
Will we sing in the bus!
Glad to hear gMattie is settling in.
Karmalady I don't know how you can cook jam in this heat. Well done anyway.

I hopeMick is making good progress.
Enjoy the day everyone.

Another good morning from South Lanarkshire, we’re having a gloriously sunny start to the day.

Thoughts are with Mick.

Love your attitude gM, you decided to be happy in your new home and are making it happen.

What a shame Stilllearning, I do hope that you are feeling much better.

Yesterday’s work meeting was ok, much talk of KPIs. I’ll go in to work today trying to bear it all in mind. grin

Grandmabatty, it must be so hard to see the contrast between your Mum and your friends’s mother.

Hope you enjoyed your trip to the coast Marydoll and that it hasn’t taken too much out of you.

Off to get myself ready for work. Wishing everyone the best possible day, keeping Urms and her DH in my thoughts.

BlueSapphire Thu 15-Jun-23 07:38:02

Good morning everyone from a lovely bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, another fine day forecast.

Hairdresser this morning, cut and colour, then home.for a quick lunch,.and then get the bus to my early afternoon ballet class. Shall have to miss tap lesson.

Hay fever seemed just as bad yesterday morning, but had eased after lunch, so I decided to go to the well-being cafe. Not many there, the heat maybe keeping people away, but I had a delicious slice of Victoria Sponge, sat and knitted and chatted.
Tidied a.few things in the garden when I got home, and did the watering.

Hope Mick is going on ok; best wishes to all feeling under the weather.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 15-Jun-23 07:40:42

Good morning all from bright Harrogate. Lovely photos ladies!
Hope you are feeling better Stillearning. You sound like you are well and truly home GM
Yesterday a trip to Aldi then in the afternoon we picked up DGD from school, she was picked up by DD in her new to her car with puppy on the back seat. Last night was a sleepless night with so much to do today. Shopping delivery this morning, food preparation, feeding DD2’s. Budgies, surgery for a blood test, then station to meetDsis from the train. She will be staying for two nights before we all travel north of the border.
Have the best day possible folks.

Liberty Thu 15-Jun-23 07:44:50

Hello all and another hot and sunny day. We had a lovely breeze yesterday but it appears to have left us today.

Off to my stretch class in an hour or so and then apart from a trip to our local town for a birthday present for the first birthday of our youngest great nephew, nothing else I have to do. So an afternoon with my book in the summerhouse with doors and windows open enjoying the fresh air but in the shade beckons.

I hope that Gingster’s DD is improving and will be home soon and others with health problems are feeling better. Thoughts with Mick as he continues to recover from his op.

Marydoll Thu 15-Jun-23 07:50:55

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow.
Thank you for opening up, GM, you are indeed an early riser.

We had a lovely time in Troon yesterday, although I spent much of it, sitting in a shady shelter on the prom, people watching.
We never made it to the garden centre in Seamill for lunch, DH noticed I was flagging, when I turned down a browse in the shops, so suggested remaining in Troon, having lunch in our favourite restaurant and visiting Seamill another day. An ideal solution.
I did make one purchase, which delighted me, a bag of locally grown Ayrshire potatoes. I haven't been able to get them anywhere. I am easily pleased.

I have to go over to the surgery this morning and also try to get hold of the RA specialist nurse (nigh on impossible, as it's an answer machine).
Yesterday, I received a phone call from the company, who will deliver my biologic injections, wanting to confirm a delivery date. ( They have to be physically delivered to me personally and refrigerated immediately.)
Unfortunately, I haven't been up to hospital for screening yet, so can't start them, until that is done, just in case something untoward shows up in the results.
I already have £1000's worth of my previous medication, sitting in the fridge awaiting destruction. No wonder the NHS is struggling.

It's good to hear of all the holiday joys.
Best wishes to all the poorlies and of course wishing Mick a speedy recovery.

Enjoy your day folks.

Marydoll Thu 15-Jun-23 07:54:10

I meant to say, it is lovely to see NanKate posting. Kate, I lied about the lack of shopping. I bought yet another scarf, in a shop I passed on the way to the prom. 😉

harrigran Thu 15-Jun-23 08:01:49

Good morning from a sunny NE yet again, made 21 degrees yesterday, definitely summer.
DS left work at lunchtime and came and ate with me then we went and did a Sainsbury's shop. I remembered to take a coolbag so was able to buy a tub of ice cream, go nicely with the strawberries 🍓.
Nothing planned for today, think I might rearrange the freezer so I know what I have in there.
Those on holiday, enjoy.
Poorly people, get well soon.
