For Scots Grans (not political!)

Taps aff, not a pretty sight, especially with peely wally Glaswegians.

I’d heard of gallus and taps aff but didn’t know what they meant - have lived in the north east of Scotland for 37 years! Having said that there are many other words/expressions used here but not in other parts of Scotland. Are these mainly Glasgow/central belt?

In Glasgow gallus means very bold.

Beamer was a very common expression, when I was a child in Glasgow.

I love them! When I was in hospital waiting for a repeatedly cancelled operation, I giggled at my Indian doctor asking every morning if I was still ‘ wabbit and scunnered’

Great to see these. I could have used these 40 yrs ago.
I married a Scot all my in laws lived/live in Scotland. My dear old MiL came from "The Kingdom of Fife" as she was proud to say.
Well, some of the terminology she used, total mystery to me, for several years.
I would just look blank as my dear FiL explained what she was going on about.
When I went out with her ( to do her messages) she always introduced me as her English DIL. Bless her
