Good morning from Bristol in loco MickI hope he’s feeling better.
It is daylight, cloudless, clear and warm. I’m getting fed up with this…. Give me some rain!
Yesterday was quiet. I had a T’ai Chi class just before lunch. Apparently, the tutor is new. He is very sweet, but not always audible - he doesn’t explain what we are supposed to do, just copy him. I tend to get my limbs tangled and my eyes crossed trying to follow! Boy, he does exercise us, very gently, but we do get a good workout.
I did a little sewing with DD’s borrowed sewing machine. It was so nice. I tried to buy a pedal and power cable, but it seems my own machine is too old (some 18 years) for anyone to keep spares. I’m half minded to buy another, newer model.
Had dinner at DD’s with the family, came home and fell into bed - just after 9. Rotten night, I don’t know why. Probably the heat.
Today, I think I have a meeting with my financial advisor. Not sure. In the mail he said “Friday”, but it could be next week!
I’m baking for a church clothes exchange tomorrow. Coffee and walnut sandwich, Biscoff fairy cakes.
May today bring contentment to all for the forthcoming weekend.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️

Oops I'm so sorry for you being so far from home and feeling so cut off from everyone. If there's no way to cut your holiday short just tell yourself that the rest will give you the strength to be a great support when you do get back. flowers

aggie Fri 16-Jun-23 18:32:22

Oh I’m so sorry please forgive my thoughtlessness

annsixty Fri 16-Jun-23 17:06:14

So sorry to upset or annoy you.
It was the last thing I would ever want to do.

Marydoll Fri 16-Jun-23 17:00:03

Oops 😪💐

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 16-Jun-23 16:33:23

Well let me think, hug my daughter or text her?

Go to see my BIL or text him?

I know which I would prefer to do.

Kim19 Fri 16-Jun-23 16:33:11

Hello from my lovely Isle of Wight where annual pop festival is getting underway. Terrific atmosphere. Love it. Sixty four years ago today I joined the WRNS. Complete life changer and such a happy carefree time for me. Oh yesssss.

aggie Fri 16-Jun-23 13:18:33

Oops what would being at home change ? You need your holiday to take care of yourself xxxx

annsixty Fri 16-Jun-23 12:46:20

Please do away with your guilt.
You cannot help what is happening and probably couldn’t change things if you were there.
Your relative choosing not to have treatment has made his own decision.
Try to rest and relax.
You can deal with what you are able, probably not a lot, when you get home.
Guilt is a destructive emotion. X

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 16-Jun-23 11:47:42

Sorry to be so negative, had some bad news yesterday concerning DBIL and also from our eldest daughter, just wish we were at home.
Other news regarding the relative who is refusing treatment hasn’t helped either.
Not much sleep and feeling so guilty that we are away when those close to us are having a tough time.

dustyangel Fri 16-Jun-23 11:23:18

Good morning everyone. It’s very hot here, 33°yesterday and the same expected today.

I’m still catching up with you all daily but often not till late afternoon, I’m doing the minimum housework as early as possible and enjoying the company of DGS and his dad who despite DGS’s work commitments are enjoying their boys time together.

MiniMoon Fri 16-Jun-23 10:12:39

Morning all. I have delivery men here to install my new washing machine and oven.
On the way to our house they overshot the driveway and whilst reversing hit the car behind them, damaging his bumper. I felt a little responsible, but it wasn't my fault!
Anyway the new white goods should be better than the ones they are replacing. My oven hasn't worked properly for months and the washing machine has been getting louder and louder and trying to shake itself to pieces.
It's a beautiful day again in the Tyne Valley with temperatures expected to reach 23°c. Let's enjoy it while it lasts.

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. It remains hot with clear blue skies. Hope you’re doing ok Mick and we hear from you soon.

The water butts in the garden are a godsend at the moment, we are planning on adding a third as soon as there is some rain to fill it.

I’m glad your phone consult was successful Marydoll and hope the new meds help.

Sorry you’ve had another nosebleed Jax, hope you’re having a restful day today.

Sending love and positive thoughts to Oops and family.

Safe journey to any travellers and healing thoughts to any poorlies.

Have a good day all 🌻🌻🌻

Jaxjacky Fri 16-Jun-23 09:30:39

Morning all from an already sticky S Hants. I slept deeply after Wednesday night in A&E with a three hour nose bleed, one nostril is now packed, I’m hoping it’ll be removed today as it’s awkward.
Consequently, not a lot to report, just trying to stay cool,
MrJ uses magnésium spray for cramp, other gransnetters have found it helpful too.

Good morning GrandMattie, Mick, Annie and all.
Yesterday was DH's birthday, and the phone never seemed to stop ringing. If it wasn't for him, it was hospitals for me arranging new appointments.
We got the new garden bench assembled with the help of our neighbour who popped his head over the fence and was soon round with tools at the ready.
LLFL, was the plane you heard a Hercules? I believe that it was making a last flight and we were hoping to see it go over, but no luck.
Off out for a small shop soon, to avoid most of the heat.
Hope all is well with Oops, that Marydoll has a restful day and that the poorly daughters of GN's can recover gently.
Have a good day one and all.

Grandmabatty Fri 16-Jun-23 09:21:40

I'm just back from Marks and Spencer where I spent a fortune on picnic food. I could probably feed the entire nursery and then some. I hope all is well with Oops but it doesn't sound like it.

GrannySomerset Fri 16-Jun-23 09:19:15

Still too hot and lethargic and am summoning up the energy to meet friends for lunch in a pub in a nearby village. I feel as if I have been unplugged from the mains! Hope everyone has a good enough day.

grandMattie Fri 16-Jun-23 09:19:14

Marydoll

*Gwen*, I'm intrigued about the soap.

Does it matter what kind it is and where in the bed, do you place it?

I think it is at the foot of the bed.
I have also heard that a strong magnet does the same thing!

luluaugust Fri 16-Jun-23 09:19:06

Good morning from a sunny, hot W Kent. Another medical morning at art, we certainly do try and get one another sorted out over our paint brushes. This morning is a U3A group meeting, I just hope a few more turn up or this group is going to fail. Hair cut this afternoon and then starting to pack up for a break to lovely N Wales after a visit from DB and friend over the weekend. Too much all at once really but that is how it seems to go now. I'm/was a knitter my mum always did the sewing.
Hope Mick is doing ok
Best wishes to all

Marydoll Fri 16-Jun-23 09:12:22

Grammaretto, my DIL was project manger for the new Burrell, I shall pass on your compliments!
Once she comes back from mat leave, she is working on some other big projects in Glasgow.

I too was a wee bit concerned with Oops post (or lack of it.)

EkwaNimitee Fri 16-Jun-23 09:11:11

Good Morning GM and everyone and to you Mick if you are reading. Home soon?

I managed to park right outside the dental surgery door yesterday. The result of my check up...the broken tooth can be built up, the dodgy crown is dodgy and will eventually be extracted..in September. The problem with crowns for me now is that the nerves are calcified and need a specialist dentist to try and drill them out, something I'm not prepared to endure! Nothing to be done about tender gums except to apply gel to them. I keep telling my aging body to hang on in there, there's at least another 20 odd years to go!

I'm praying for rain, I'm fed up with this watering lark, my new trees especially need a lot of it.
My amelanchier is ripening its berries and it's amusing to watch a determined blackbird trying to get them. The berries are on the end of the branches where the bird's weight isn't supported so he needs to perform various acrobatics, including vertical takeoff from the ground to get them. He's quite successful.

I spent ages yesterday afternoon applying for an ESTA to visit the US. The form seemed even longer than when I did it last time. I despaired of ever getting completed as it kept returning error messages that didn't tell me what I was getting wrong. Success finally and they are letting me in. A naughty bit of me wondered what would happen if I said yes to the question asking me if I'd ever indulged in terrorist activities etc....

Today, another day of doing little physically, it's too hot. Not too hot for filing and boring admin though. For entertainment, I have started a new book, it's about the Arctic navigator, Barents, and gives me a pleasant cool feeling reading about all the ice!

Have a good day, everyone.

hulahoop Fri 16-Jun-23 09:02:52

We had a lovely day in knaresborough yesterday ,like others in here I can't sew but loved knitting especially themed ones e.g. Ateam van and helicopter, The Snowman. Hope everything ok Oops . I have washer on and have to go shopping at some point. Have a good day .

cornergran Fri 16-Jun-23 08:52:46

Your post has concerned me oops. flowers and a hug should it help.

karmalady Fri 16-Jun-23 08:52:32

GM, this man in Edinburgh takes old machines apart and keeps the bits. Definitely worth a try and btw I bought my overlocker from him after hearing how good and reliable he is

Good morning all. I am so loving this weather now I've become acclimatised to it. The breeze off the North Sea means it doesn't become excessively hot, and everywhere looks so beautiful under blue skies. It doesn't get dark at all at night, with that rosy sunset travelling along with sun until it rises again. Sorry - waxing lyrical!
Today I'm off over to Perth and then on to Dundee, from where I shall pop over the river to my old home town for a visit to the hairdresser's. I usually meet up with my niece while I'm there, but she's away at the moment and my hair can't wait any longer!
I hope everyone enjoys their day and the poorlies find relief x

aggie Fri 16-Jun-23 08:41:32

Good morning from a warm but bearable Co Armagh, I actually slept well last night! Mind you I’m still in pjs
